Montana Care Home is a residential and nursing home with strong values, allowing residents to choose their own way of life and personalised support.

They provide person centred care based on respect for human dignity and the personal development of each individual to promote a secure and loving family atmosphere and care for people, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, religious persuasion or belief, cultural or linguistic background, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability. They offer long-term care but can accommodate short-term care (including respite) when there is availability.

The Home is set in a traditional single-storey house, now extended to provide spacious accommodation in the very heart of rural Suffolk near the culturally historical town of Bury St Edmunds. They have accommodation for 19 people (16 rooms - 3 of them can be used as double rooms with en-suite facilities) and provide residential care of the very highest quality to older people (male and female) who are in need of care through frailty, disability or choice.

Friends and family visit at their convenience and are able to spend as much time with their relatives as they wish.

FEES

Residents contributions to fees (or the full amount for some who self-fund) are usually collected by four weekly standing order. The fees are reviewed each year and usually change (subject to government guidance) each April.

Most people are eligible for financial assistance with their fees. This can be explained in detail by the relevant Social/ Health Services Department, but typically consists of a payment from Social Services
according to their assessments of their needs, with the remainder paid by you from your benefits or from your family
Other people have more than the “minimum level of savings” (set each year by the government) which leads to them having to pay the full care home fee (they become “self-funding”). For these people the NHS help by making a small contribution to fees.
Should your circumstances change, and you can no longer meet the full level of fees, Social Services will be contacted to assess your needs which usually culminates in them paying a finite amount, the outstanding balance being met by your family.

Our now 97-year-old mother had a stroke earlier in the year whilst still living alone and after a 2-month spell in hospitals, transferred to Montana Care Home Grace and Compassion Benedictines to be close to family. What a find by my brother!


The care home is relatively small and provides a very

personalised service for our mother. The staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating of her and the family's needs. We feel very happy to have found and secured a place here for our mother and are absolutely confident that she is receiving the best possible care from an environment dedicated to helping others.

I am very pleased with Montana. My 97 year old mother suffered a stroke, while living independently at home and need to go to a care home. She has been very happy at Montana Care Home and extremely well looked after.

My mother was very happy to choose Montana as her care residence when she became unable to care for herself. From the very beginning, the high standard of care and attention to detail was obvious. Her deteriorating health gave the dedicated staff extra challenges which were gladly met and often surpassed.
Despite being bed bound, the sisters and care staff are constantly checking on her well being and including her in various activities and visiting entertainers etc. A regime of thorough documentation and an ongoing personal care in all areas are all provided with a friendly smile.
My previous job took me to several care and nursing homes and I can say that Montana ranks as the best in my opinion in both staffing and atmosphere.

My mother is 91 and has been confined to bed for nearly 2 years. The staff take it in turns to sit and talk with her, just this week they arranged for one of the entertainment group to visit her room and sing for her, she enjoyed it so much that she even sang along with him. The head sister made a video
of the event and showed it to me and my brother, such kindness forethought and attention to care is typical of the very high standard of care in the home. Tomorrow she will be visited by a lady and her four-legged doggy friend, a regular event she always looks forward to. A lady member of staff has been reading a story to my mother in the evenings and this seems to be keeping her mind alert and content as she has very poor eyesight and watching TV is a strain.

On entering the home a warm greeting by staff.
It was obvious from the start that all the staff were dedicated carers with years of experience.
Staff respected your privacy and dignity.
The food consisted of a well thought out nutritional menu, freshly cooked and well presented, served on hot plates
when appropriate - in fact, all tastes were catered for.
Medication was efficiently dealt with.
The room I am in overlooks a well-tended garden - fittings etc very adequate and of good quality.
The atmosphere in the home is tranquil and nothing is too much trouble if one requires help.
How lucky I was in finding this 'GEM'.

Montana is a unique care home. We were very lucky that it is so close to us but it would be worth travelling many miles, it is the BEST. The staff are special, they are like Angels. Happy, smiling and totally committed to their work. You could not ask for better care. We are grateful for the service
which was beyond the call of duty. It is a SAFE and LOVING home. The palliative care was excellent.

The accommodation was excellent, ensuite, and the staff (religious sisters and lay people) were most helpful and kind. The food was of very good quality, well cooked and plentiful - with two hot meals in the day. That it was all on the ground floor was, I am sure, very good for those who have difficulty
managing stairs. There is seating outside the building as well.

I found Montana Care Home to be a good place to live. The staff are very caring, a friendly environment. Food is good, security and hygiene very good. My sister who lived for only 2 weeks soon said "It was now her home." She was happy to be there.

Montana Care Home is where caring really means caring. It caters for patients wellbeing and spiritual needs, nothing is too much trouble for the Nuns.
Patients are treated with dignity and as a family unit.
Rooms are comfortable, the home is well kept, hygiene and cleanliness are a priority.
Meals
are excellent and cooked on the premises. Patients feel safe and secure.
I would definitely recommend Montana Care Home if you want the best for your loved ones.

I first visited Montana late one evening. I had flown back to the UK to attend my uncle's funeral, and the Sisters had kindly invited my aunt to stay with them until she was ready to go home. Despite the late hour, I found the Sisters to be very friendly and welcoming, and quickly saw that my aunty
was being well looked after in her bereavement.
I visited the care home regularly over the following two days, and was always impressed with how much love they showed to all of us. It had been my uncle's wish to pass his final days there, but the thing that touched me most was that they continued to look after my aunty as well, making sure she was comfortable and well fed the whole time. They all wanted to be sure that she didn't feel that she was alone in her grief, and for me, living overseas, it was a great comfort to know that they had treated my aunty with the same love they had shown my uncle.

My relative was extremely well cared for in his final days. The staff were so thoughtful and friendly and I will be forever indebted to them. The efforts they all put in to make us welcome were unbelievable. Even after the weeks of constant care and attention, they helped to provide a wonderful funeral
that all our family appreciated so much.
I feel that they managed to provide not just practical care and attention but helped us all spiritually in his final days.
