I visit my friend usually once a month- we have a rota at our church as her family all live away from Suffolk. I am impressed by the care given and my friend who has quite severe dementia seems happy and well cared for.

Everyone at Spring Lodge from carers, cleaners, nurses and management have made dad very welcome and enabled us (the family) to feel confident they care for our dad as much as we do. They have spent time getting to know dad and the family.

My father moved to S Lodge 3 months ago. As a family we have been made very welcome and feel a part of the S Lodge family. Nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are so welcoming. We very much appreciate the high quality dementia care and how those people with significant dementia are integrated
into community. Thank you for caring for my dad so well.

I have been visiting my elderly friend monthly since she came to Spring Lodge a year ago, unwell and unable to live independently. She has been made so welcome and staff clearly work hard to ensure that she is well looked after and her needs are being met. With her being a very shy person, it has been
wonderful to see how, with outings and various activities, she has responded so happily and positively. The environment has much to offer every individual along with the happy atmosphere that the staff create. I also appreciate the excellent communication offered by the Hospitality Manager with the opportunity to ask any questions or give feedback.
Reply from Sam Davis, Home Manager at Spring Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for such lovely words; I will of course feed these back to the rest of the team. Thanks again.

Pleasantly located, this care home is a mix of old and new building. The gardens are well maintained and well used (when weather permits). There is a good mix of day rooms where residents are able to enjoy each others company or have quiet time as preferred. Food and drink are good and varied. Staff
are always pleasant and make themselves available for family queries and concerns which is a reassuring comfort.

I approached Spring Lodge back in the Spring of 2024 about them looking after me following a hip replacement. The home manager was incredibly supportive and the hospitality manager stayed in touch with me all through the long wait for an op date. When I did finally arrive at Spring Lodge in February
2025 everyone was so brillant at welcoming me and looking after me. I was only at Spring Lodge for 5 days but the kindness, care and commitment shown by all the staf was very clear and greatly appreciated. Thank you Spring Lodge.

I am happy with the care my friend receives. The food always looks good. One criticism is I think the lounge could be made more cosy, not keen on the way arm chairs are arranged looks very clinical.
All the staff are friendly and I can see she is very fond of them.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.653)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.653) out of 10 for Spring Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.653 for Spring Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (97 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 317 Ratings = 4.653
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spring Lodge Nursing Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
