Hillcroft House

Staff are superb, they look after my father dealing with his every need whilst also ensuring a high level of care to other residents. Hillcroft is like a happy family home, offering high quality care, 'home cooked food' and lots of love.

All the staff are very kind, caring and friendly towards my mother. Recently, two carers visited my mother who had to be taken to hospital on their day off in their own time, which was very kind of them. All staff members are genuinely concerned about the well-being of my mother.

Very very relaxed and homely atmosphere! Like home from home. All the staff are extremely friendly, cheerful and helpful. Nothing is too much for them. Although my granddad is confused he is very happy and settled!

The atmosphere is homely and cheerful, impromptu singing can often be heard, and the food is well cooked and appetising.

Very happy with my uncles care. Have no problems at all.

Happy calm atmosphere. Plenty of activities if desired. Residents seem content on the whole. The home is clean and cheerful, though some of the rooms are dreary. Staff are quite gentle and caring, especially deputy manager who is such a support to relatives. She always finds the time to reassure visitors and is really kind with the residents, very 'au fait' with their problems and medication. Car park is totally inadequate, which makes visiting awkward at times. Pretty gardens but I have never seen them.

The staff at Hillcroft all treat my mother (and also treated my late father)with care, dignity and respect. She is well looked after and when I visit, everyone is friendly and gives me time if I need it. I couldn't ask for better care. It would be nice, however, for there to be more activities like there used to be to try and spark the residents interest, for more mental stimulation.

Totally satisfied with care that my uncle receives. He seems to have settled in nicely and seems quite happy. All staff very friendly and always helpful and very caring. My uncle really enjoys his trips out with them.

Too early to have a really informed opinion but indications are really positive. My father in law is comfortable and well cared for. We sincerely hope he will be a permanent resident.

Very very impressed with the friendliness and attitude of all of the staff here. The care provided is second to none and means the world to know my grandad is looked after by such loving and wonderful people. The activities organised are great and the residents always seem to enjoy them. It gives the family great peace of mind to know grandad is properly cared for and there are always enjoyable things around the corner for him. Keep up the good work guys, it means a lot!

My mother has been at Hillcroft House for the past 2 years. She has Alzheimers and finds it difficult to communicate her needs/wants and to mobilise. I have found staff at the home to be patient and to treat her in a dignified way, even when she can be quite difficult to communicate with or even a little aggressive. My mother also has problems with a poor appetite and the staff at the home have taken extra care to ensure her calorific intake and fluid balance are optimised. The room that my mother sleeps in is always clean and tidy, with clean bed cloths.I cannot comment on the entertainment/activities at the home as I'm often at work at these times.

The home has a calm atmosphere and staff react positively to the residents needs and emotions. The food appears to be good as my mother normally eats well. Drinks are always available as are small treats such as cakes and biscuits. Staff appear well dressed and clean as do the residents. Medical conditions are treated with the correct and prompt action.

My mother spent the last two and a half years of her life at Hillcroft House, having been diagnosed with dementia. We chose Hillcroft House having visited several others and were immediately impressed by the friendly staff and clean environment. My wife, who had visited numerous other dementia care homes for her father, said it was undoubtedly the best care home she had ever seen. During my mother's stay we visited regularly and always found that she was well cared for. She had a lovely room with an en suite toilet and a view of the garden where she enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds. There were lots of activities available during the week to which she could join in when she felt well enough. The food was home cooked and always excellent. Mum could be difficult at times due to her illness, but the staff always showed great patience and built up a good relationship with her. Towards the end of her life Mum spent most of her time in bed and was provided with a hospital bed with an air mattress to prevent bed sores. During her last illness she returned to the home from hospital and was regularly attended to by nurses from the hospice in addition to the normal staff. My sister and I spent a lot of time at Mum's bedside playing her favourite music and she was able to pass away peacefully with dignity in a comfortable and homely environment. The manager and all the staff were extremely supportive and sympathetic to us during what was a very difficult time. Hillcroft House is an excellent care home and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The home itself is very appealing. The facilities are very good, nice size rooms. Staff are very helpful and are always about to deal with things. The food is very good. They cater for all and if there's something you would like they do it for you if they can. It is very friendly and really do try to please all. I found even people who keep it clean are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The only fault I could find is car park is too small but not a problem.
