Over all time Stratton House has 70 reviews.
He was reluctant to give up independent living but could see it was the only way forward.
The staff are attentive, welcoming and warm, and I can not praise them enough.
He has the opportunity to be sociable when he wants to, but the staff respect the fact that, at times, he just wants peace and quiet.
Beautiful grounds too.

The atmosphere at Stratton House is similar to that of a quality hotel. All staff are very pleasant and helpful and treat my friend with utmost care and the food is great. No request is a problem, which helps in reducing her anxiety.

Stratton House is a happy and caring home. The staff are friendly, caring and responsive. There could be more variety in activities, such as invites in such as charities, liaison with a nursery for activities, basic cooking i.e. rolling and cutting pastry for jam tarts if residents agree, and slightly too much dependence on karaoke. The food is good, although the variety of vegetables could be increased. Staff really do make Stratton House the client's home, for example enabling my mother to eat tea in the garden on a lovely, sunny summer evening. Overall, I am very pleased with the care that my mother receives and I feel able to discuss issues with staff.

It’s also pleasing to read you are pleased with your mother's care she receives. I will ensure that I share your review with the staff, and such lovely comments are very much appreciated.
My father has been a resident for 18 months. He was quickly made at home and the staff at Stratton House bent over backwards to accommodate his needs. Over this time we too have been made to feel a part of the Stratton House family. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the care is delivered with a lightness of touch and a smile. Thank you.
It is so pleasing to read that your father was able to feel at home at Stratton House and his needs were accommodated and staff delivered this with a light touch and with a smile. I’m also pleased to see that you too also felt part of the Stratton House family, which is what we set out to do. Thank...
My mother wanted to move here as some of her friends had lived here, good choice. It took a while for her to settle in but now she is like part of the establishment and seems to be well loved by staff .The home is clean and tidy and it's like another world away from the stresses of life.
It's pleasing to read that your mum chose Stratton House on the recommendation of her friends that already lived here and that you as a family think it's been a good choice. I’m also pleased to read that the you find the home clean and tidy and has helped remove the stresses of life. I will ensure that I share your review with the staff, where such lovely comments are very much appreciated.
My father took a while to settle, having had a five-month hospital stay during the latter part of the pandemic. The staff were patient and worked hard to meet his needs. He is now happy, settled and much healthier than before he arrived. The staff are quick to notice any problems and are always kind and responsive whilst solving these. Having observed how the staff interacts with my dad and other residents during the past year, I couldn’t recommend them more highly! Whilst the home is a bit of a warren of passages on the lower floor as it is in an old building, it has a stunning garden and the toilet and bathroom facilities are all kept very clean.
It is so pleasing to see that your father is happy at Stratton House and that you have found the staff patient and hardworking, and that your father is much healthier since moving in. It is also good to read that you find the garden stunning and the facilities are well kept and couldn’t recommend...
We are always impressed by the care and quality of life whenever we visit. As we are 200 miles away, we are particularly grateful for the excellent communication between us and the management team and the lengths to which they go to ensure we remain in touch and well-informed. Most importantly, our relative is comfortable and happy - most of the time! - and has come to treat Stratton House as her home. We are happy to recommend Stratton House without reservation and to thank the entire team for their care and support.
It is reassuring to read that you feel there is excellent communication between you and the home and that you are well-informed, but most importantly, your relative is comfortable and happy and has come to treat Stratton House as her home. It also pleases me to read you are happy to recommend...
Our father made a wobbly transition into care, but the management at Stratton House problem solved in a sensitive way so that after a while he settled in. The social community at Stratton House suits him perfectly. All the staff engage with him, and activity coordinators do a great job of providing additional stimulation and fun. When we, his family, visit, there is a warm welcome. Particular praise should go to the kitchen staff for providing appetising meals and to the site manager and gardener who keeps the Stratton House garden looking lovely. In our father’s own words, “Everybody here is supportive and patient.”
It is so pleasing to read that your father feels everyone here is supportive and patient. It’s also great to read that you, as a family, when you are visiting, feel a warm welcome from everyone and that you find the meals served are appetizing and the garden is looking lovely. Thank you for taking...
The staff are brilliant and are always happy to help.
It was once described to me as a big family, and that is a great way to describe it; everyone is approachable.

I am also pleased that you described Stratton House as one big family as that is what we try to achieve here. My father is very happy and comfortable in Stratton House, and his health has improved considerably since being welcomed into the home; in no small measure, I am sure this is due to the care and nurturing he has received from day one. There is a full programme of activities which he enjoys joining in with, and he thoroughly enjoys the food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

I stayed here for a fortnight and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was good, and the staff very helpful. There was also a good range of activities. Would recommend the home to anyone who needed it for a break.

It is also pleasing to see you gave the staff five stars and felt they treated you with dignity. I will make sure I pass on your comments to all the staff.
Very friendly, efficient service prior to arrival provided me with the comfort of mind.
Would definitely recommend.
The food was great, and activities available to residents.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I’m glad your mum enjoyed her stay, and we enjoyed having her here. It is always so nice to read such positive reviews and to get an overall 5*. I will share this with the team, where your comments will be welcomed.
Dad moved into Stratton House four days before the lockdown, which has meant no contact since. The staff have been amazing in their care for Dad not only physically but getting to know him as an individual and understanding his needs. The contact with us as a family has been first class and the staff have worked very hard to help us to see Dad when rules allow. We feel very fortunate we found such a caring home.
Thank you for your recent review. It is pleasing to read that you think the staff are amazing in their care for your Dad and have taken the time to get to know him as an individual. Lovely location with plenty of activity if you want it maintained to a decent standard.

It is pleasing to see that you are extremely likely to recommend Stratton House to others looking for a care home. I will ensure that I share your review with the staff where such lovely comments and ratings are very much appreciated.
As my mother entered at the time of the pandemic, I have not had an opportunity to see her room or the inside of Stratton House properly. However, all the staff seemed to be lovely, very helpful and kind. I think my mother is in a very safe and supportive place.
My mother is in Stratton House, she has lived there for 5 years. As far as I can say she is happy. She is very poor at eating some of the meal but they always offer her things she likes. Mum will be 105 in June. I have been able to visit 4 times in the last year.
Thank you for your recent review. Although your mother is 105 and chooses to spend her time in her room, she is doing amazingly well and seems happy and content. It’s good to read that your Mum is always offered different meals when there are things she does not like. It is pleasing to see that...
My mother has received excellent care throughout the pandemic. She has been relatively happy and has been able to participate in a whole range of bargaining activities. She enjoys her room, the home, the garden, the excellent food, good care and the company of other residents who are her friends.
Thank you for your lovely comments about Stratton House. It’s pleasing to hear that you and your mother feel the care she receives continues to be excellent, and your mother is happy and enjoying the garden while making new friends and enjoying the food. I will ensure that I share your review with the staff where such lovely comments are very much appreciated.
My mother has lived at Stratton House for the past, coming up four years. The manager and all staff do an amazing job keeping residents safe and happy, especially considering the unchartered waters we have found ourselves in due to Covid 19 during the past year. My mother was only given a restricted life expectancy on her transfer from the hospital, and here she is almost four years later! This must be a testament to the care she receives on a daily basis. We are as a family very grateful Mum is still with us at coming 101 years of age!
Thank you for your lovely comments about the staff and what an amazing job that they do. It has been a very unsettling time for everyone, the staff continue to be amazing, and the care they deliver has always maintained a high standard. Your mum is an amazing lady, and we look forward to...
My parents are very happy and settled at Stratton House, and the management and staff have been wonderful in accommodating them through changes and enabling them to stay together. The welcoming atmosphere is felt as soon as you walk through the door, the staff are so caring and understanding and the surroundings are lovely. The food is a highlight for both my parents, activities are many and varied including gardening, guinea pigs, church services and pastoral support. In normal times, there would be visits out and about. In lockdown, the staff have gone above and beyond to keep all residents safe, and I could not think of a better place for them to be right now.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It’s always good to read such positive comments about the home, staff and the activities within Stratton House. I’m glad your parents are happy and settled, especially at these difficult times. I will share your review with the staff who will really appreciate such kind words

Meet the Team (4)

I began my journey at Stratton House in 2017 as a Night Care Assistant and took the opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge by completing both the NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and Apprenticeship Level 3 Health and Social Care Adult Lead. I was then promoted to Senior Care Assistant for two years before taking the role of Deputy Manager in 2022 and Home Manager (interim) in 2026.
It really is an honour to be part of the Stratton House Team. Our values of Nurture, Respect and Inspire are demonstrated on a daily basis by our amazing team.

Before joining MHA, I worked as an Assistant Wellbeing Co-ordinator for 8 months at another care home for people with dementia and nursing needs.
I went to The European School in Brussels and had a Baccalaureate (similar to A levels), and afterwards, I did a bachelor’s degree (BA) in Media Studies with Languages from the University of East Anglia. My background is in organising events and tours around the world.
I enjoy interacting with the residents at Stratton House the most, and I feel the team at Stratton House is supportive and works well together as a team.

I joined Stratton House in 2017 as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant and previously worked in other care homes for six years.
I love working at Stratton House because of the incredible team I get to work with and the wonderful appreciating residents we look after. Being part of a brilliant team is what makes my work so fulfilling and rewarding.

Working at our care home is truly rewarding. The building is a beautiful, listed landmark with stunning grounds that I have the pleasure of looking after as the maintenance person. I love that I can bring my own vision to the garden and handle repairs within, making decisions independently and taking pride in the result.
Being part of Stratton House's history since 2016, and serving the community charitably, makes my role even more meaningful.
