Excellent care home and we have experience of 4 or 5 others (parents-in-law). Good caring attitude the care is well adapted to the needs of the resident.
Kind staff are doing a difficult job. Good activities for those who are capable.
Lack of dental care is the only problem.

The staff, on the whole aim to please (the odd one needs a little more training in social skills and bed-making sheet only pulled over the un-made bed!) Staff work very hard and always pleasant. As I progressed in becoming more mobile and self-reliant, it became less frustrating having to wait. Being
contained in my room and not mobile enough for the restaurant. Found food often only lukewarm.

The building is quite impressive, with easy car parking. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. The garden is attractive, well maintained and perfect for residents to sit out, should they wish to do so. The menus are varied, yet residents can still request an alternative if they prefer. It's a good
experience for both residents and visitors.

Stratton House provides a kind and caring environment for residents. Staff try very hard to meet individual needs. I feel comfortable discussing any issues with staff and feel they are concerned to ensure that my mother receives the best care and attention. I have confidence in them. The premises are

My mother's first Christmas away from her own home but everyone at Stratton House (all staff etc) made Mum's Christmas period time and present stay very happy, pleasant and enjoyable.

This home is very pleasant, the interior and exterior are very well maintained. The staff are all very pleasant and caring. Overall this is a happy environment and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I have volunteered at Stratton House since 2014. The residents are well looked after, clean, comfortable and friendly to others and visitors. Good atmosphere. Things go wrong sometimes but everyone works together to make improvements.

I am a regular volunteer at Stratton House. I engage with both residents and staff. I am always impressed by the friendly and happy atmosphere that pervades the place. The home is clean and tidy and the staff are kind and attentive. The residents are very positive about their surroundings given their
circumstances. The residents are complimentary about their meals and appreciate the efforts that are made to entertain them and enrich their lives.

My mother is generally quite happy at Stratton House.
Her room is very satisfactory and convenient. Stratton House is very good. She does complain that it sometimes takes staff a long time to respond to her buzzer.
She is generally very happy with the food provided.

I am pleased to have decided to come to this home for the rest of my life. At the age of 94, no longer could I cope at home. The staff are patient, kind and cheerful. The activities are interesting and variable and the atmosphere is uplifting.

Overall, I am happy with the quality and service at Stratton House. However, I find that there is a lack of consistency in areas such as food, care and support and management. Unfortunately, it is often the shortcomings that are remembered rather than the more positive experiences. That said, on balance,
the home is good in almost all respects.

Over the past few months things in the home have settled, with more inclusion from residents, having a say in menu's and going out on trips, the activities are fantastic with a wide range of activities and volunteers to help.
The home is always spotless and the staff can't do enough for you.

We feel very lucky to finally find a care home who really care. Great care and attention to details such as welcome flowers, celebrating different nationalities, music, involvement with the outside world and bringing this into the lives of resident no longer able to mobilise. The activity organiser
is an enormous asset to this home. Everything is thoughtfully considered. Food is sometimes hit and miss, depending on the chef on duty. Day staff are all 100% lovely - but agency staff at night time are sometimes disappointing and not enough "care" is offered on early waking.

Mum has now resided in Stratton House for more than two years and is both happy and comfortable in her surroundings. She is and always has been an easy going person who gets on well with others and she is popular with both fellow residents and staff alike. She has had a number of health issues in recent
months and the staff have been admirable and unwavering in their attentiveness, subsequently, we would have no hesitation in recommending Stratton House to others.

My mother is very happy with all aspects of her stay here. The room is good and comfortable. The staff are excellent and the choice of meals suits her very well. Overall I feel she is well looked after and she seems to be fitting in very well with all the other residents.

Stephen Hill

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2011

I joined the Stratton House family in 2011 as Deputy Manager before becoming Home Manager in 2016. My career in the care sector began in 2001 when I worked for a charity in Bristol in one of their sheltered housing schemes. I started as a Care Assistant and over the years have held roles as Care Assistant, Senior Care Assistant, Care Coordinator, Deputy Manager and now Manager.


Over the years, I have completed a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care, an Advanced level apprenticeship in Management (In the business skills sector), an EDI Level 3 NVQ certificate in Management and I am about to start a Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care. In 2023, I was awarded MHA’s Leader of the Year Award and we won MHA's Team of the Year in 2024.


I love working at Stratton House and supporting the individuals we care for to live later life well together and treat each other as family.

I began my journey at Stratton House in 2017 as a Night Care Assistant and took the opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge by completing both the NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and Apprenticeship Level 3 Health and Social Care Adult Lead. I was then promoted to Senior Care Assistant for two years before taking the role of Deputy Manager in 2022.

I am one of the Senior Care Team at Stratton House and started working at Stratton House in 2020 as a Night Care Assistant working my way to my current role. Prior to this, I worked for two years as a care assistant in-home care based in Scotland. During my time at Stratton House, I was given the opportunity to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.


I love the warm, family-like atmosphere at Stratton House. There is a genuine sense of camaraderie amongst residents and staff which makes coming to work really enjoyable!
