The food is very good. I have eaten lunch there myself on several occasions.
The best thing about the home, however, is the staff. They are always very friendly and attentive. I would particularly mention the activities which are laid on for the residents. There is no plonking the residents in front of the tele. Indeed there is no television in the sitting room, which encourages interaction between the residents.
Thank you for your recent review. Your mother is very happy at Stratton House and enjoys all the activities and likes to take part daily. It is always good to read about how kind and attentive our staff are; they do an incredible job, and I’m very lucky to have such a good caring team. I will share...
Until I came to Stratton House in March 2020 I had had no previous experience of any care home and was absolutely amazed at the special care and attention I received. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff - their only concern being the happiness of residents. I could not rate this care home more highly if I tried. It was like being one of a big happy family, and I shall be so sad to leave them all.
Thank you for spending the time to complete such a positive review of Stratton House. I am pleased that you found your stay with us absolutely amazing and the staff looked after you so well. I am also, pleased to see that you felt part of a family as this is what we strive to achieve for everyone....
Very good but I still wish I was able to live on my own to cook my meals and look after a small house, garden and conservatory as I did until 2019.
Thank you for taking the time to send in such a positive review. It is always so pleasing to see residents taking the time to complete reviews. I am pleased to see that overall you are happy living at Stratton House and the care and support from the staff is 5 out of 5 and you feel everyone treats...
I am a single man with severe lifelong deafness after a maternity hospital acquired infection as a very young baby. Despite this I had a successful career in engineering. Although now very infirm at 87, I am still in very good mental health. On finding it was becoming physically too difficult for me to live alone, my doctor and solicitor joined in recommending Stratton House for my future residential care. I have not been disappointed and I am very grateful for their advice.
Thank you for your recent comments about the home. I am pleased to read that we have not disappointed you by the care you are receiving at the home and that you score the home 5 out of 5. I will share your review with the staff where such positive comments are greatly appreciated.
Every time we ring to talk to Mum, whoever answers the phone manages to sound so upbeat and friendly and it is never to much trouble to take the phone to her.
When we talk to Mum she is so happy, particularly with the amazing range of activities that you have still managed to provide under such trying circumstances.
It is such a relief, whilst we ourselves are sheltering, to know that Mum is being looked after by such a compassionate and caring team. A very big thank you and clap to all of you tonight.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback about Stratton House and the wonderful staff. It is a difficult time but the staff at the home remain positive and as you say upbeat. Such wonderful feedback from yourself will certainly maintain the high morale that is currently in the home. I will ensure that I share your comments with all the staff where I know it will be greatly appreciated.
Stratton House has totally exceeded my expectations in the care of my mum, very clean, helpful, friendly, professional, the staff, delicious food and tons of activities. Beautiful house and grounds.

Very happy with the care. Staff are friendly. I feel at home. Good atmosphere.
My mother has settled very well into Stratton House. She enjoys the company, the many and varied activities and spending time in the garden. The staff have all been very supportive of my Mum and also, of her family during this time of change.

Friendly staff, manager available if needed. Activities available, outside space easily accessible, variety of volunteers and variety fo group visits. Better variety of meals access to low-fat semi-skimmed milk etc, more variety of bread not just white/brown perhaps muffins, croissants, seeded bread and bagels?
Thank you for your review of Stratton House. It's pleasing to see you find the staff friendly, the outside space is easily accessible. The residents are involved with menu planning but I will ensure I pass on your thoughts around having more variety of bread and milk to the chef.
Everything and every one perfect.
Thank you for your fantastic comments; it is always good to hear when residents find everything in the home to be perfect for them. I will ensure that your feedback is given to the team at Stratton House.
This is an excellent care home. I would highly recommend it. I am quite happy here. The food is excellent and varied.

Kind staff are doing a difficult job. Good activities for those who are capable.
Lack of dental care is the only problem.
Thank you for your recent review on Stratton House; it’s always good to read that the staff have a good caring attitude, they adapted to the needs of your relative and the activities are good. We have recently addressed denture care and oral hygiene with the staff so hopefully, you will see this...
The staff, on the whole aim to please (the odd one needs a little more training in social skills and bed-making sheet only pulled over the un-made bed!) Staff work very hard and always pleasant. As I progressed in becoming more mobile and self-reliant, it became less frustrating having to wait. Being contained in my room and not mobile enough for the restaurant. Found food often only lukewarm.
Thank you for you recent review. I am very sorry that your stay at Stratton House was not a positive one. I will discuss this with the Manager and I will be asking him to contact you so this can be discussed further.
The building is quite impressive, with easy car parking. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. The garden is attractive, well maintained and perfect for residents to sit out, should they wish to do so. The menus are varied, yet residents can still request an alternative if they prefer. It's a good experience for both residents and visitors.
Thank you for your recent review on Stratton House. We are very proud to work at Stratton House and as you say the building is impressive and we all take pride in working there. Thank you for rating us overall excellent and that you would recommend us. I will share your comments with all the staff where I know this will be very much appreciated.
Stratton House provides a kind and caring environment for residents. Staff try very hard to meet individual needs. I feel comfortable discussing any issues with staff and feel they are concerned to ensure that my mother receives the best care and attention. I have confidence in them. The premises are well maintained and clean. I am glad we chose Stratton House.

I am a regular volunteer at Stratton House. I engage with both residents and staff. I am always impressed by the friendly and happy atmosphere that pervades the place. Her room is very satisfactory and convenient. Stratton House is very good. She does complain that it sometimes takes staff a long time to respond to her buzzer.
She is generally very happy with the food provided.
Thank you for your recent comments about the home. It’s good to read that your Mum is happy and that you would likely recommend Stratton House to others. The home does carry out many checks and one of these is checking the response to call bells, which I will investigate. I will share your positive comments with the staff.

Meet the Team (4)

I began my journey at Stratton House in 2017 as a Night Care Assistant and took the opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge by completing both the NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and Apprenticeship Level 3 Health and Social Care Adult Lead. I was then promoted to Senior Care Assistant for two years before taking the role of Deputy Manager in 2022 and Home Manager (interim) in 2026.
It really is an honour to be part of the Stratton House Team. Our values of Nurture, Respect and Inspire are demonstrated on a daily basis by our amazing team.

Before joining MHA, I worked as an Assistant Wellbeing Co-ordinator for 8 months at another care home for people with dementia and nursing needs.
I went to The European School in Brussels and had a Baccalaureate (similar to A levels), and afterwards, I did a bachelor’s degree (BA) in Media Studies with Languages from the University of East Anglia. My background is in organising events and tours around the world.
I enjoy interacting with the residents at Stratton House the most, and I feel the team at Stratton House is supportive and works well together as a team.

I joined Stratton House in 2017 as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant and previously worked in other care homes for six years.
I love working at Stratton House because of the incredible team I get to work with and the wonderful appreciating residents we look after. Being part of a brilliant team is what makes my work so fulfilling and rewarding.

Working at our care home is truly rewarding. The building is a beautiful, listed landmark with stunning grounds that I have the pleasure of looking after as the maintenance person. I love that I can bring my own vision to the garden and handle repairs within, making decisions independently and taking pride in the result.
Being part of Stratton House's history since 2016, and serving the community charitably, makes my role even more meaningful.
