Penhill is a multi-award-winning residential care home with an outstanding reputation based in the suburbs of Bristol, close to local amenities and excellent transport links.

Specialising in long-term care for up to 19 residents, the independent family-run home offers an authentic home-from-home experience through its spacious and welcoming environment.

Staff are recruited locally, fully trained and provide the highest quality care, 24 hours a day. With a warm and personable approach, they endeavour to treat residents with love, respect and kindness.

Care is focused on the needs of the individual. Upholding dignity, independence and a sense of community is essential, so weekly forum meetings are held with residents to discuss the service.

Penhill is decorated to high standards throughout to help maintain a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere and has wheelchair access to all facilities. Residents benefit from en suite bathrooms, Wi-Fi, telephones and televisions in their fully furnished bedrooms, and have several communal spaces to unwind in around the grounds.

A large, cosy lounge sits at the heart of the home which includes an open log fire.

The dining room has an open kitchen where high quality, nutritious meals and freshly baked cakes are prepared.

The conservatory is a favourite spot for many to enjoy the beautifully presented gardens. The lawns and terrace are well maintained and easily accessible for all.

There are plenty of stimulating activities to get involved with and a lively entertainment programme to look forward to.

Penhill makes the transition from independent living to residential care seamless whilst maintaining independence. Staff treat residents like family, which extends to the individualised service they provide. Through dedication and a clear ethos, Penhill has achieved an excellent reputation over the last 20 years.

My aunt lives in Penhil. On 11th February, it was her 100th birthday, and Penhill gave her a wonderful party. I brought my 102-year-old father to his sister's party. We were made to be so welcome. It was like a family party at home. All the staff were so friendly, engaging and caring. On the way home,
my father said he was so comforted that his sister was in such a warm and caring "real home".

I attended my aunt's 100th birthday party. Whilst having visited the beautiful home before, it was overwhelming how wonderful the staff were. Party decorations and beautiful buffet supplied. All staff are attentive to everyone's needs, nothing too much trouble. A very inclusive home. All residents are
happy, interacting with each other, staff and visitors. All residents - showing character and animation in their faces and beautifully cared for. Such an amazing place. Everywhere is clean and tidy with a 'real home' atmosphere. A credit to them all.

I went to Penhill for respite care, my first experience living in a residential home. I stayed for 4 weeks. It was good to get to know the carers. They were mostly very attentive although small things in my care were overlooked. The 'hands-on' manager and his assistants were extremely welcoming and
helpful. I arrived in an apprehensive state but settled down into the routine. My room overlooked the garden, it was large and beautifully furnished. The standard of cleanliness was excellent. Well done Penhill!
Reply from Nathan Corfield, Manager at PenhillThank you for taking the time to share your experience at Penhill. We appreciate your feedback and are delighted to hear that your overall stay was positive.
The small oversights in your care are duly noted, and I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. My auntie recently passed away after being a resident of the care home since 2005.
I would like to thank the staff and management over the years who have looked after my auntie with due diligence around care and dealing with her personal requirements and making her feel like one of the Penhill family.
The
care home was always very proactive in updating me about how she was and any medical issues while once a Lasting Power of Attorney was put in place the ease of receiving invoices and making payment were all made very easy by the care home admin team.
I can thoroughly recommend Penhill residential care home to anyone needing care home specialists looking after family loved ones.

Penhill is a very welcoming, caring home. Many of the staff, and the manager in particular went out of their way to make sure Mum's needs were met (Mum couldn't praise the manager enough). Visitors to Mum were always welcome, and I was often offered cups of tea and was able to approach staff to discuss
concerns.
Mum and the family would be very happy for her to return to Penhill in the future if the need arises.
Reply from Nathan Corfield, Manager at PenhillThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a positive review. Mum moved to Penhill a few days ago after a long time in hospital. The decision of moving Mum into a home wasn’t easy but Penhill is so welcoming and their home is your home. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The manager went above and beyond to help us get Mum into Penhill and I am so grateful.
They even bought Mum a moving-in gift, which was so lovely. In the few days Mum has been there my mind has been put at rest as I know she is being well cared for. I can’t fault this home at all. I even said I would be happy to move here in years to come. Thank you so much everyone at Penhill.
Reply from Nathan Corfield, Manager at PenhillThank you so much Kelly for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. I know that initially it was 'challenging' due to factors beyond our control, but we got there and it's lovely to see Mum settled and we are so pleased that you are happy with us all here at Penhill. I'll pass on your review to all the staff.

My mother died at Penhill in late December. The care she received was exceptional by loving supportive staff. Many of whom attended her funeral in February. They also helped provide refreshments and supported us as a family.

I’m not usually lost for words, but I cannot express how happy I am with the manager and his staff at Penhill. I can’t always get in to see my aunt as I don’t live locally and I have to rely on my family to bring me in, but I love the warm welcome I’m always greeted with and the food always smells amazing
and I’m told it tastes just as good. I have been invited to stay for lunch on many occasions and on my next visit I just may.
The home is like a real home-from-home experience, it’s spotlessly clean, all the staff know my name and they are always happy, positive and can’t do enough for my aunt.
My aunt loves crafting and there is always something going on, last time I visited I sat with my aunt and we made bracelets, which I will cherish.
I can’t recommend Penhill enough and I’ve told the staff I’m putting my name down when I can’t manage at home.

Dad is 90 years old. He has problems with his mobility and his cognitive abilities which have declined over recent years. He has therefore presented increased challenges to those who care for him at Penhill.
The staff have always risen to these challenges with grace and good humour (humour being very
important to Dad) and always deal with him as an individual and not as a number.
In all honesty, if Dad had his current problems at the outset he probably would not have been accepted at Penhill, but once he became a resident the staff and management have made a number of adjustments to ensure that he can remain comfortably and safely in his home.
My brothers and I feel very fortunate that our initial, fairly extensive, research led us to find and choose Penhill and that they had a vacancy available for him.
We would have no hesitation in giving the home, management and staff our fullest recommendation to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

Can not fault this care home whatsoever!
Everyone is really friendly, the staff are always around to make sure my nan and the rest of the residents are ok, the place is immaculate, and there is plenty to do to keep everyone entertained. They also have a lovely garden which will be really nice for

My brother and I are extremely pleased to have been offered a room at such short notice for our mum back in December when Dad became ill and passed away suddenly on New Year’s Eve.
It’s never easy when the time comes to have to find a care home for our loved ones, especially one with so many recommendations
and excellent reviews. We have not looked back since Mum has been at Penhill care home. The care and support for the residents are outstanding, nothing is ever too much trouble for the wonderful staff.
Their meals are freshly cooked every day and always look and smell delicious.

I've worked with a number of care homes in the past and this is without a shadow of a doubt the best that I've come across.
It is an independent family-run business, which gives it that homely feeling and offers a wide range of regular activities for the residents.
The standard of care is second to
none and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food is freshly cooked and smells amazing.
At a time of need, the care home manager was very understanding and was able to arrange a care assessment and bed for our mum at very short notice.
The carers have made Mum's sudden transition from living at home to being in a care home seamless and always have time for her. We often visit and observe Mum having a chat and a laugh with them.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to you and your loved ones.

Small and personal residence that truly feels like a home from home with residents and staff one big happy, loving family.
I looked at 15 placements in my search for the perfect home for my lovely mum and when I visited Penhill I knew I'd found the right place. Every member of the team was friendly,
welcoming and so genuinely kind and caring. The property itself is small enough to feel like an actual home. Cosy, comfy and well maintained with a lovely lounge, conservatory, dining area, gardens and bedrooms can be personalised as much as you want. The residents are encouraged to keep their independence but offered assistance, their choices are respected and they're treated with dignity.
Meals are freshly cooked and look delicious, tea trolley rounds with a choice of drinks and biscuits are regularly offered and the residents often joke that they're constantly eating.
As a family member, I have always been made really welcome whatever time I turn up to visit and can stay as long as I wish. Mum's happy and content.
Reply from Nathan Corfield, Manager at PenhillThank you so much for your kind words, I'm so happy that you found somewhere suitable for your mum and as you know, she has settled in very well and has made some great new friends. I saw the staff support a service user to walk to the dining room. This service user is not usually able to mobilise. On this occasion, she walked a couple of steps, the staff supported her to walk all of the way by encouraging her. One staff member followed closely with the wheelchair that they were
going to use to transfer her. It would have been very easy and less time-consuming to pop her on the wheelchair. The way they supported her was a great example of person-centred support and lovely to see.

  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Penhill is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

With over 30 years of dedicated service in health and social care, I bring extensive experience, strong leadership, and an unwavering passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As a long-standing Registered Manager, I have consistently led teams to excellence, ensuring compliance, compassion, and innovation are at the heart of every service I oversee.

Confident, independent, and highly motivated, I thrive in challenging environments and am known for my energetic and proactive approach. I continually stay up to date with changes in legislation, standards, and best practices through regular training, staff conferences, and collaboration with organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Society, AgeCymru, and the NHS.

In previous years, I was a Dementia Champion, and to this day, I remain a passionate advocate for best practice in dementia care, regularly facilitating training for staff, families, and community partners—including financial institutions—to raise awareness and improve outcomes. I also lead training in Fire Awareness, Infection Control, and the Mental Capacity Act, championing safety, compliance, and professional development.

Throughout my career, I’ve managed large, complex services—including dementia care homes and nursing facilities—delivering sustainable improvements in quality, compliance, and resident satisfaction. My leadership has been recognised at national forums, including the Care Council for Wales, and featured in published sector magazines.

I am proud of my ability to motivate teams, lead change, and ensure residents and their families are at the centre of all decision-making. Above all, I am committed to creating safe, supportive environments where dignity, respect, and choice are paramount.
