The home is like a cross between a warm friendly family home and a good small hotel. The staff are extremely attentive to residents and extremely welcoming to visitors. There is a very pleasant atmosphere in the home and the rooms, both public and bedrooms, are very clean, bright and welcoming. A very good range of homemade freshly prepared foods geared to residents individual preferences are offered. My dad has been a resident for the last 6 months and is very happy. I cannot recommend the home too highly.

Hi Paul, what a lovely review. It has been a pleasure from our 1st meeting with your dad to welcome him as part of the Penhill family. He has certainly settled in to become a very much loved resident. It is always an absolute delight to extend our hospitality to you and your family and we hope to share lots of precious moments with you all. Kindest Regards, Kath

The care and understanding mum received was excellent from all members of staff. The welcome received by visitors was very warm and inviting. The home is kept clean, warm and the residents can enjoy a varied menu. Mum led an independent (where possible) and dignified life at Penhill. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Very sadly, mum passed away at Penhill on the third of June. The level of care, compassion and sensitivity shown towards mum, my wife and myself was exceptional. The owners, the staff and the management have been so kind and nothing has been too much trouble. Once again, I cannot recommend Penhill enough, from the friendly, helpful staff, the management, the cleanliness of the home, the food and most importantly the homely atmosphere that sets Penhill apart from other places.

It is with sadness in our hearts that we will remember your mum with such fondness and can say that it was only always a pleasure to be a part of Mum's life and to care for her in Penhill (her home). Your kind comments are received with gratitude and love.

My mum moved to Penhill in October 2017 and to say that it has a homely atmosphere is an understatement. I can not speak highly enough of the care and constant attention that she receives there. The owners and well-trained care staff cannot do enough for the residents, to ensure that they are as well fed, and comfortable, as they would be in a 5-star hotel! I cannot thank the owners enough for establishing this wonderful home and making my mum happy. The relief of knowing that she is safe and well cared for is indescribable. I visit her frequently and I am constantly amazed by the welcome I receive every time into their community. Penhill is unique and very special.

The move from independent living to a shared home is a massive decision. Mum has been in Penhill for almost 3 months and settled in so well. The staff are kind, attentive and have created a "home from home" atmosphere. The food is cooked on site and is excellent. Mum has put on some much-needed weight. The daily activities are amazing! Mum is happier now than she ever was living independently. I can visit whenever I like and have lunch with mum. Visitors/relatives are invited to lots of events and social occasions. The surroundings are furnished to a high standard and the owners visit daily to check that residents have what they need and want. Mum and all the family are delighted with Penhill and relieved that she is in such a safe and happy environment.

I would like to comment on the excellent care given to my father-in-law at Penhill. When we visit he cannot praise the staff highly enough for the dignity, help and total support he receives. Father-in-law always comments that nothing is too much trouble for the staff as he realises his needs are very high and he feels privileged to be at Penhill. He tells us even when he calls in the middle of the night because he can't sleep a sandwich, chat and cup of tea is provided without any issues! Wonderful!

My mother in law has been in this home since December 2016. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the care she has been given. It has changed her life as when she was in her own home she had lost interest in herself and was always unhappy. She now is a different person, she is happy, looks really well, takes an interest in how she looks and all family enjoy going to visit. This is all down to the care she is given. Nothing is too much trouble and management and staff are all kind with nothing being too much trouble. As a family, we all recommend this home. Residents are encouraged to get involved in activities such as exercising, games and flower arranging. There is a very home from home atmosphere, with lovely gardens to enjoy which you can sit in the conservatory and admire. Residents have their nails painted every week by staff and they even clean all their glasses. All these things make a difference and you just see everyone is well cared for. Also it is spotlessly clean, as are the residents.

Mum has now been at Penhill for 12 months and I wanted to update my review (last made May 2016). I didn't think things could get any better but they have. We have shared a year of consistently good care with continuing high standards in every area. The Manager and the staff excel in providing a home from home with extras! Monthly trips are arranged and high days and holidays celebrated with great enthusiasm. Everyone is made to feel special and those who cannot join in with activities for whatever reason are still included in some way. I quote "if xxx can't get to the activity, we take the activity to her", it is this thoughtfulness that makes this a very special place.

Penhill is an outstanding care home. We are delighted with the clean homely surroundings; the quality of food on offer; the involvement of residents in making suggestions and planning events; the activities and outings that are arranged; and all the standard of care provided in a warm family atmosphere. The owners have set this standard of excellence and are very involved. The manager and senior staff ensure the day-to-day running of the home is exemplary and the staff are unfailingly warm, friendly, patient, and caring. What more could one want for an elderly relative?

I would highly recommend this home, my mum was reluctant to leave her own home, but sadly no longer able to cope alone. The staff made my mum welcome from day one, encouraged and supported her to engage with others and take part in activities; nothing was ever too much trouble. The home is very well managed and maintained; visitors are always made to feel welcome. The food is of a high standard, home cooked and enjoyed by all. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their patience, kindness and understanding in supporting my mums care needs during her stay, knowing she was safe and well looked after was comforting and reassuring for the family. Sadly mum passed peacefully away in September 2016, age 96. The end of life care and support provided by the staff to mum and the family during her last days and hours was excellent; mum was well cared for, treated with dignity, respect and compassion. I will always be grateful for the kindness and care my mum received during her stay.

I found Pennhill to be a safe and enjoyable environment for my Mum. She is so much happier within herself. Nothing is too much for them. It is alway spotless and never untidy. The team are all very caring. Would not want my Mum to be anywhere else. I can highly recommend it with glowing colours. The food is of a high standard.

Our lovely mum has been lucky enough to be a resident at Penhill since August 2015, I can speak for the whole family on how relieved we feel that mum is somewhere where she is safe and cared for 24 hours a day. We visit every day so can see what actually goes on, it is a beautiful home with really caring staff, our mum is very happy, which makes us happy. Thank God for Penhill, we would have no hesitation in recommending this home for anyone looking for a home for a loved one.
