Penhill is a multi-award-winning residential care home with an outstanding reputation based in the suburbs of Bristol, close to local amenities and excellent transport links.

Specialising in long-term care for up to 19 residents, the independent family-run home offers an authentic home-from-home experience through its spacious and welcoming environment.

Staff are recruited locally, fully trained and provide the highest quality care, 24 hours a day. With a warm and personable approach, they endeavour to treat residents with love, respect and kindness.

Care is focused on the needs of the individual. Upholding dignity, independence and a sense of community is essential, so weekly forum meetings are held with residents to discuss the service.

Penhill is decorated to high standards throughout to help maintain a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere and has wheelchair access to all facilities. Residents benefit from en suite bathrooms, Wi-Fi, telephones and televisions in their fully furnished bedrooms, and have several communal spaces to unwind in around the grounds.

A large, cosy lounge sits at the heart of the home which includes an open log fire.

The dining room has an open kitchen where high quality, nutritious meals and freshly baked cakes are prepared.

The conservatory is a favourite spot for many to enjoy the beautifully presented gardens. The lawns and terrace are well maintained and easily accessible for all.

There are plenty of stimulating activities to get involved with and a lively entertainment programme to look forward to.

Penhill makes the transition from independent living to residential care seamless whilst maintaining independence. Staff treat residents like family, which extends to the individualised service they provide. Through dedication and a clear ethos, Penhill has achieved an excellent reputation over the last 20 years.

Penhill is an outstanding care home. We are delighted with the clean homely surroundings; the quality of food on offer; the involvement of residents in making suggestions and planning events; the activities and outings that are arranged; and all the standard of care provided in a warm family atmosphere.
The owners have set this standard of excellence and are very involved. The manager and senior staff ensure the day-to-day running of the home is exemplary and the staff are unfailingly warm, friendly, patient, and caring. What more could one want for an elderly relative?

I would highly recommend this home, my mum was reluctant to leave her own home, but sadly no longer able to cope alone. The staff made my mum welcome from day one, encouraged and supported her to engage with others and take part in activities; nothing was ever too much trouble. The home is very well
managed and maintained; visitors are always made to feel welcome. The food is of a high standard, home cooked and enjoyed by all. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their patience, kindness and understanding in supporting my mums care needs during her stay, knowing she was safe and well looked after was comforting and reassuring for the family. Sadly mum passed peacefully away in September 2016, age 96. The end of life care and support provided by the staff to mum and the family during her last days and hours was excellent; mum was well cared for, treated with dignity, respect and compassion. I will always be grateful for the kindness and care my mum received during her stay.

I found Pennhill to be a safe and enjoyable environment for my Mum. She is so much happier within herself. Nothing is too much for them. It is alway spotless and never untidy. The team are all very caring. Would not want my Mum to be anywhere else. I can highly recommend it with glowing colours. The
food is of a high standard.

Our lovely mum has been lucky enough to be a resident at Penhill since August 2015, I can speak for the whole family on how relieved we feel that mum is somewhere where she is safe and cared for 24 hours a day. We visit every day so can see what actually goes on, it is a beautiful home with really caring
staff, our mum is very happy, which makes us happy. Thank God for Penhill, we would have no hesitation in recommending this home for anyone looking for a home for a loved one.

My aunt was welcomed into Penhill Residential Home on the 18th March 2016 after being in and out of hospital for a month, she was quite poorly.
From day one the management and staff gave their best the Manager and Asst Manager showed her great kindness and care throughout her time there. She sadly
passed away peacefully on Sunday 1st May. I shall will always be grateful for the kindness and care that she received .

I continually stay up to date with changes in legislation, standards, and best practices through regular training, staff conferences, and collaboration with organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Society, AgeCymru, and the NHS.


In previous years, I was a Dementia Champion, and to this day, I remain a passionate advocate for best practice in dementia care, regularly facilitating training for staff, families, and community partners—including financial institutions—to raise awareness and improve outcomes. I also lead training in Fire Awareness, Infection Control, and the Mental Capacity Act, championing safety, compliance, and professional development.


Throughout my career, I’ve managed large, complex services—including dementia care homes and nursing facilities—delivering sustainable improvements in quality, compliance, and resident satisfaction. My leadership has been recognised at national forums, including the Care Council for Wales, and featured in published sector magazines.

With over 15 years of dedicated experience in the health and social care sector, I am proud to serve as the Care Manager at Penhill Residential Home. My career has been built on a deep commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred care and ensuring that every resident feels valued, respected, and supported.


In my current role, I work closely with the Registered Manager, supporting the operational leadership of the home and helping to maintain the highest standards of care and compliance. I lead a skilled and dedicated team, offering mentorship, training, and day-to-day guidance to ensure a positive and nurturing environment for both residents and staff. My responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing care plans and reviews, ensuring compliance with CQC regulations, and supporting recruitment, staff development, and rota planning.


Having progressed through various frontline and leadership roles, I bring a strong understanding of the challenges and rewards of care work.


Whether I’m supporting a new team member, resolving a resident’s concern, or stepping in to cover a shift at short notice, my approach is always hands-on, adaptable, and rooted in empathy.
