Heathwood is a well thought of specialist dementia care home. It has a lively and fun atmosphere but also plenty of space for quiet contemplation. They have designed the interior to feel like home.

The gardens are safe, easily accessible at all times directly from the living spaces and allow residents to indulge their hobby, walk freely or doze. In warmer weather they regularly use the space for alfresco eating...

The home is always welcoming no matter what time we've called. The staff are attentive and kind. They treat residents with great dignity and support to the right level knowing each individual's needs and personalities. I am just os pleased a great home like this exists to take the worry out of caring for mum and dad.

My mother has dementia and requires specialised dementia care. Heathwood is all that one could ask for. I know mum is well cared for, happy, well fed, relaxed and loved by the carers. The home has plenty of staff who are exceedingly patient with the residents and spend lots of time doing activities which are very stimulating. The residents being encouraged to join in but not pushed. There is usually music playing in every room, except the TV lounge, and the residents enjoy singing or humming along with it. Heathwood is a lovely home and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Heathwood is a lovely care home run by caring friendly and very supportive staff. It is truly one big happy family. It is also always kept very clean, and my mother tells me the food is just like what she would have at home. She loves going on the outings and the entertainment that they put on. We are so glad we chose Heathwood so we do not have to worry about her anymore knowing that she is in such good hands. If mum is happy so are we.

Having looked at ten care homes in Weston-Super-Mare, we came across Heathwood at Trewartha Park, my closest friends both moved in there. I have been to see them many times and cannot fault the care and love they receive, from all the staff, management, right down to the cleaners, they are making their lives so happy. It really is such a warm lovely clean and happy home and I love to visit as often as I can, and enjoy my visits there, thank you Heathwood for your devotion to all your residents. Anyone wanting a beautiful care home for their loved ones this one is a wonderful care home.

A very friendly atmosphere and welcoming, caring staff at Heathwood have enabled my Mum to make a smooth transition from independent living into the dreaded 'care home'. Mum now feels that Heathwood is her home which is testament to the attention given to meeting her specific needs - not only the obvious health and welfare ones but time is taken to really get to know the individual - what they like and dislike. A bit of lipstick and a spray of perfume go a long way towards helping someone retain their individual identity and dignity. Being able to bring some of Mum's own furniture and personalise her room has really helped her to feel in familiar surroundings and the Manager has found ingenious ways to make Mum feel useful and part of the community. I was looking for a dementia care home where the emphasis was on what the person can do, not what they can't; where they are empowered within a safe and supportive environment and Heathwood provides just that.

Heathwood provides very personal care for their residents who are all individually known and looked after. Every resident is treated as a normal human being with great compassion and understanding. I am extremely pleased with the care my relative has received over the last four years.

I cannot fault anything about Heathwood. I felt so guilty when mum and dad were no longer able to look after themselves and had to leave their home and move into Heathwood. I was working full time and my husband became ill, I need not have worried.
All the carers are so good and hard working. The home is clean and doesn't smell (unlike some homes). The food is all home cooked, whenever I visit I have tea and home cooked cakes.
The entertainment keeps them busy which is so important for dementia. They are taken out in a mini bus.

It's like one big happy family. I miss them very much but I have no worries, they are being looked after. I always look forward to visit, everyone is so friendly.

Overall Experience

My mother recently changed Care Homes because she needed constant monitoring and reassurance, which the previous home could not provide because of low expectations as well as staffing levels. An Initial consultation with the Fig Tree Group management confirmed the philosophy of care that I had been striving for and on arrival at Heathwood the Fig Tree standard of quality of care did not disappoint. This meant a traumatic move of home for my mother was carefully executed by gentle and attentive staff at Heathwood who were able to administer to her special needs in a professional, respectful and very caring way. As a result mum settled with surprising calm, contented in the comfortable, attractive and reassuring environment which meant at last she could feel 'safe'! I am delighted to know she is fully supported and cared for in the true sense of the word, and would very happily recommend Fig Tree as an excellent care provider.
