Overall Experience

I've been a resident here for nearly 3 months, I wasn't told about impending building extension work when I came here but now the 'modernisation work's been infull flow for the last 6 weeks or so with not a lot to show for it. I was even told today that I'll have to move out while this extensive building

work is being carried out.
The atmosphere is very tense at times due the staff attitudes towards us altho' the home's motto is 'Residents don't live in our workplace we work in their home.; This maxim has been forgotten by both the owners and staff from the office staff down
I'm a 78-year old man with severe disabilities yet I get shown little compassion here and some residents are in a lot worse state than me. Uprooting myself will be no easy matter both physically and mentally; my mind and body are worn out with anxiety and stress and physically with various forms of arthritis. If I have to leave I've no idea what the immediate future of Appleby Lodge is going to be....?

Overall Experience

Since my Mum moved into Appleby Lodge her health and quality of life have improved. I have been impressed with the standard of care and the friendly and helpful staff. The food is of a high standard and the home is always clean and welcoming. The layout of the home is pleasant, with most of the bedrooms

looking out into the garden. The day rooms are suitable for residents to make friends with one another. ( Mum has found this very helpful). There is also plenty of space for visitors.
Mum enjoys the varied social activities which happen most afternoons, this helps her to keep her mind active.
As a regular visitor to the home, I have found that there is always a pleasant warm atmosphere.
Finally, I would recommend the home without any reservation. I never have to worry about Mum because I know she is cared for by caring and well-qualified staff.

Overall Experience

My Father has been a resident for a couple of years now and throughout that time he has been well cared for. Despite a number of relatively minor illnesses he has continued to thrive in a caring and also relaxed atmosphere. There are many activities he can choose from. The food is plentiful and appetising.

Not only is this excellent for him but also for us as we feel confident they have his best interests at heart and will ensure he is safe and well.

The home is extremely well run and the staff are all lovely and very kind, as are the other residents. I would recommend Appleby Lodge without reservation to anyone.

Overall Experience

Visited a friend today Wed 27/09/17 at 11am.
We were made to feel most unwelcome by a staff member. We were obviously interrupting her work.
We may not visit again.
Very sad.

I have spoken to the member of staff in question and am sorry that they made you feel unwelcome. I understand that the visitors requested that the resident move from where she was sitting to another area of the lounge which she refused to do.
It may be that this was misinterpreted that the member of staff was too busy to bother. We operate person-centred care in the home which means that the wishes of the residents are paramount.
We are complimented on a daily basis on the friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the home and have amazing support from the friends and relatives of our residents.
If the people visiting had mentioned their concerns at the time it would have been dealt with and I hope that they will come again as it would be a shame to deprive their friend of their company.
