The staff at Pengover House are second to none, on receiving a very poor service from my father's previous home, I can now sleep soundly knowing that my father is safe, well and extremely well cared for. Thank you Pengover for welcoming my father with open arms (we know he is now happy).

Dad was resident at Pengover House from October 2017 to Jan 2018 when he passed away. Staff were very professional and caring. The general theme was that residents were treated with dignity and given choices. Nursing care was excellent. We are only sorry that dad didn't have the time to benefit from the community feel and activities provided.

My mother is well cared for, both her personal care and her wellbeing. We have found the staff both helpful and caring. Should we have any issues they are dealt with immediately we bring it to the staff's attention. If we go away we can be confident that mum will be well looked after.

Mum has been at Pengover House for approximately two years. In this time we, my family, have felt the care is satisfactory. We feel there could be improvements. The activities are not as good as they used to be - last year they were better. ]

We have bought aprons for mum to wear during mealtimes but unfortunately, they are rarely put on mum and have been seen on other residents. Toilet checks should be done regularly. Mum is often wet.

As a content visitor to my partner, I have found the home always friendly, warm and pleasant. All staff are helpful and cheerful. The décor in all areas and rooms give a relaxing feel and a cup of tea or coffee etc is always available. I say a 'happy home'.

My mother as been a resident since May 2015. My experience although fairly limited is of a caring environment where nothing is too much trouble and the carers are always polite are are often working with residents who can be fairly wearing on the soul. I would say that they all go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that everyone is probably taken care of. When my mother first came here she was depressed incontinent and unable to walk. She is sitting with us now very happy able to walk unaided and able to feed herself. The care staff deserve a medal.

Our mother has many medical needs and she has been well cared for by medical support staff except on one occasion when a bank nurse on night shift refused to contact me when my mother wanted me with her when she was feeling ill. We were both very upset about this and hope it never happens again. We all enjoyed the Queen's Birthday lunch and appreciate the staff hard work in putting it on.

My mother in law was admitted to Pengover House in August last year and was there until her death last month. The manager and her team of staff have been an absolute rock through all the good times and most recently the bad times. We as a family hold the staff and the quality of the work they do in very high esteem. They are local people and the pride in their work is faultless.
They have supported us as a family before, during and after the death of mother in law in the same humble way that they go about their work. We feel very privileged to have known such a welcoming group of individuals with true values for people's lives, no matter what age or what their ailments are.

Never once did I have a complaint, if I asked for anything then it was soon dealt with. We cannot praise this home enough.

I would just like to thank the staff for the reception they gave visiting family members and their attention to ensuring that we could enjoy and make the most of our time with Mum on her birthday. Considering the changes that we have all gone through in the last year, not least Mum, it was just great that we could relax and share quality time together on her special day.

We have found the care given to my mother-in-law is second to none. The patience and kindness given to her has been excellent in every way. The fact that she has had a lot of change giving up her home and she has had medical conditions her temperament is not always easy but the patience of the staff right along the board has been exceptional

Amy LucasJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2002

I started my journey in 2002 working at Pengover as a care assistant then progressing to senior care assistant after completing my degree in Psychology.

As I grew into my role an opportunity to become a Deputy Manager came up and I was fortunate to apply and was successful. I worked closely with the Manager, learning more skills to ensure that Pengover, the clients, staff and family members felt valued and respected.

I remained in the role of Deputy for five years, during this time I completed my Operations Departmental Management CMI level 5. This opportunity gave me insight not only into myself but also into Management style and leadership styles.

In 2022 I applied for and was successful in the role of registered Manager. I continue to learn, I feel that learning and evolving are never-ending.

I am passionate about Pengover, the clients we care for, the staff we support and the families that visit their loved ones.

I believe that Pengover is a home, not only for the clients we care for but also for

staff, family members and visitors.
