A very good friend of many years, who is a resident at Pengover House, had a birthday and her husband asked if I would go and sing a few songs for her. It was agreed with the staff that this would be acceptable and they offered to give me lunch on the visit. I found the staff were friendly and very caring, giving the residents help and assistance when needed in a dignified manner. The care home was very clean and appeared well run. The food was well balanced and cooked.

All in all, I was very impressed with the overall standard of the care home and its staff.

My husband's room needs to be updated and there is no ensuite. However, the staff are lovely and always make time for the residents and visitors. The food always looks good and the building is nice and clean.

My husband was transferred from the hospital to Pengover House while waiting for an NHS assessment to be carried out for continuing care. We found all staff to be very good, kind, caring and considerate at all times and very competent. I was always kept well-informed and supported. He was treated well and with dignity in his last days.

I have the utmost respect for the staff at Pengover House who, for some time now, have looked after and kept my partner safe, when I alone could not.
For the reason alone I am forever grateful. I still feel lucky to be able to visit which I do quite regularly but have been beaten at times as with the COVID situation, and lately, rail strikes.

So, to close, I know our situation is not desperate, but I'm very thankful for everyone's help at Pengover House.

My wife has only been here for 9 days and so far everything is ok, she is comfortable. I haven't met any management yet, so can't judge them but the nurses are very caring lovely people.

My wife has been in Pengover House for nearly 4 years now. During that time I have visited her almost daily. During that time it was noticed that notwithstanding the differing aspects of care and the multiplicity of characters of residents all staff displayed a high degree of patience, kindness, care and professionalism towards the residents. A wonderful team of carers and nurses no need to name names. I would highly recommend them and this nursing home to anyone.

My husband has been a resident at Pengover for almost one year - what a testing time for everyone involved! All the staff treat each resident as if they were one of their own and it is obvious in the kindness and professional care always given. Whenever you make contact with Pengover the response is friendly, helpful and informative and in this current situation every effort is made to keep in contact with relatives, either by telephone, FaceTime or even the unexpected photographs which are always treasured.
I rest easily in the knowledge that the care and friendship given to my husband is second to none - giving as much dignity to each individual resident as possible, whilst they live through unforeseen health problems.

Thank you all at Pengover you are all angels.

My dad has been in the care of Pengover at Liskeard since two weeks before lockdown in March, until August when he passed peacefully away. I cannot begin to thank the staff for their care of dad. They showed him kindness and respect in the last months of his life during a difficult period. They deserve every praise going. Thank you.

I am in complete awe of every single staff member in Pengover, my father went to stay with them in an emergency when his dementia suddenly got much worse and we could no longer cope. We were initially worried because he was an hours drive away from home but having spent time there with him we quickly realised what an amazing place it is and decided to make it a permanent move. Sadly he passed in March, but I cannot fault the love and care shown to him and us in what was an extremely difficult time. Everything was spotlessly clean at all times and all the staff were just such amazing people even when dad was being very difficult. I can't explain my gratitude to them all for making an unbearable illness that little bit easier to cope with.

My mother took up residence in June. From the first day, the carers took time to settle her with great kindness. The nursing care was wonderful. Nothing too much trouble. Mother's room was bright and clean with plenty of room. Her last days were handled with dignity and extremely good care. My family and myself were given good support to deal with a very sad time. I would recommend Pengover House to anyone.

I moved my mother from another home in Liskeard.

My mother has medium dementia and is quite able to communicate. This was the best move I could have made for her. She (as other residents) is treated with great respect and patience at all times. The staff are also welcoming to me and my relatives which make visiting a pleasure for us all. The atmosphere is relaxed, even jovial, yet efficient. Nothing is perfect but Pengover goes a long way to approaching this. Any problems I raise are listened to and dealt with.

My Dad was in Pengover House for a short time, however during the time he was there I was impressed by the care he received. Despite not knowing him very well the Registered Nurses were very quick to pick up on when his condition was deteriorating and access the appropriate care for him. They were quick to communicate with us and I felt very involved in his care options. On the day Dad died staff were caring and, as a family, they offered us care and support during the time we were there. They ensured our Dad died with dignity and respect and made sure he was comfortable. Thank you to all the staff.

When visiting my mother-in-law I have found the staff extremely helpful in all capacities. She has been kept very comfortable, clean and out of pain. All staff have treated her with respect and her dignity has been priority at all times. My mother-in-law could only drink and was in bed full time so I cannot comment on food or activities, but what I did see of the food it was first class on all occasions. I am extremely pleased with all aspects of the home and I would recommend Pengover House to my friends.

Amy LucasJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2002

I started my journey in 2002 working at Pengover as a care assistant then progressing to senior care assistant after completing my degree in Psychology.

As I grew into my role an opportunity to become a Deputy Manager came up and I was fortunate to apply and was successful. I worked closely with the Manager, learning more skills to ensure that Pengover, the clients, staff and family members felt valued and respected.

I remained in the role of Deputy for five years, during this time I completed my Operations Departmental Management CMI level 5. This opportunity gave me insight not only into myself but also into Management style and leadership styles.

In 2022 I applied for and was successful in the role of registered Manager. I continue to learn, I feel that learning and evolving are never-ending.

I am passionate about Pengover, the clients we care for, the staff we support and the families that visit their loved ones.

I believe that Pengover is a home, not only for the clients we care for but also for

staff, family members and visitors.
