All the staff are hardworking, dedicated and kind and I feel they really care.
They would do anything for my dad and are really helpful whenever he or I need anything.
Coppelia House Care Home is perfect for my elderly aunt, she has 24/7 care. Individual attention to her personal needs, whether medical, emotional, physical or social. The home is clean and attractive, well maintained with a lovely garden. My aunt loves the view of the moors from her room. She enjoys the food and especially loves chatting to the staff as they are all so friendly, extremely caring and professional. As a family, we couldn’t wish for better. Thank you Coppelia.
Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful review of Coppelia House. We will be sure to share with the staff who do work extremely hard to support everyone.
Coppelia House has been my mother's home for the last four years. The staff have always treated her with respect and kindness but over the past year, when she has become increasingly frail, the level of gentle compassion and love has been outstanding. I have also been touched by their level of concern for me too. I would not want my mother anywhere else for her remaining days. Thank you Coppelia.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. Your mother and your family all mean so much to us and we will do anything we can to support you all.
Before Covid we felt that we could always pop in at any time; the home was warm, friendly and clean and the staff obviously knew the residents well and treated them as individuals.
Most times when I popped in during the week there was something going on - a quiz, a visit from animals, craft, hand massages etc. Even for residents who did not want to take part in these, it gave a friendly and lively background to the days.
Over the last year when we could not visit due to Covid, the staff made great efforts to keep us in touch and to provide extra care.
Thank you for your review of Coppelia House which I will certainly share with all the staff.
Throughout Dad's time living at Coppelia House the staff were cheerful and helpful, always going the extra mile to look after him and facilitate our visits, especially during the extraordinary circumstances the Covid 19 pandemic imposed upon us all. Coppelia House is a Care Home rather than a Nursing Home but the staff continued to take excellent care of Dad as his health deteriorated until he passed away. They willingly did far more than could have been expected of them and for that, we are extremely grateful. The home provides a homely atmosphere, every resident has a private bed-sitting room and there are ample facilities for communal use. There is an extensive programme of activities for the residents to enjoy along with a well-kept garden. I have no hesitation in scoring all the aspects below as "excellent", there is nothing to criticise and everything to praise. What a wonderful group of people the staff are.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a heartfelt recommendation, which I will share with the team.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Coppelia. I will pass on your positive comments to the staff who continuously work hard and care about everyone who lives at Coppelia House.
My aunt, who has dementia, has been at Coppelia House for several years now. She is very happy there and loves all the staff. There is a full programme of activities and entertainment which she enjoys, especially the singing and regular pet visits. During the past few months, it has been very taxing for all the staff because of Covid 19. Throughout it all, they have remained cheerful and kept relatives informed all the way through about what was happening. My aunt became unwell but was looked after with all the care and love that is always given to her. She enjoys the food and the individual attention that she receives. I have never regretted for one second the choice for her home to be Coppelia House.
Thank you so much for your kind review - the staff have been amazing at taking on the additional challenges Covid19 pandemic has brought to all homes. We love looking after your aunt and making Coppelia her home.
Our Auntie is in this home and the care is exceptional before the virus you could go any time if you wanted to have a meal there with you family member even a friend, our Auntie had a Birthday Party and a lot of family members turned up and Coppelia House did a lovely party and all were welcome. Our Auntie is always clean and she is very happy and very settled the manager is always on hand if you have any concerns. All staff are very happy to help and very kind to the Residents they treat them like family and it is truly lovely to see. We looked at many homes before we visited Coppelia House and a lot of them seem to have a lot of air fresheners to mask smells no air fresheners at Coppelia and very relaxed more like going into someone’s home than a Residential home. The rooms are very clean throughout. This situation with COVID-19, we have been kept informed at all stages how things are. Very good service so pleased we chose Coppelia House.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review which we will share with the hardworking staff. We certainly miss having everyone visit and sharing the homemade delights from the kitchen.
As visitors, we were always greeted, at whatever time we arrived, with a smile and an offer of a cup of tea.
Coppelia is an old building and as such leaves a great deal to be desired. But it is homely, clean, fresh-smelling. It is not a modern purpose-built, soulless, sterile hospital type Care Home. It is very much a 'home'.
The garden is an amazing bonus for those who are interested in pottering in the garden, with an opportunity to be outside in the fresh air.
The staff are very thoughtful, caring and extremely patient when residents are being a little 'difficult'.
The diligence with which they tried to keep the virus at bay is to be highly recommended. It was such a difficult time for all the residents and staff. The management endeavoured to keep the family abreast of events at all times.
Thank you for your review of Coppelia House. We will, of course, share your review with our staff
My mother has now been in Coppelia for 12 Months. She would not come out of her room for the first two weeks after moving in and I was really worried that a home would not suit her but during that time all the management and staff were so nice to her and my family felt the home was doing all they could to make her happy and settled. She now calls Coppelia her home and does not look to leave. During the Coronavirus, we were kept informed of her health and well being, sending us photos and videos via email. She does have a mobile phone so we could keep in contact. We are now able to see Mum and must thank the management and lovely staff for all they do for her. They are all lovely and I would have no problem in recommending Coppelia to anyone who is looking for a safe and 'homely' home for a loved one. I have even let them know that I would like a room there in the future if I cannot look after myself any longer.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, which I have shared with the staff. We are very proud on how well they have continued to work through a pandemic.
I found the staff at Coppelia House to be exceptionally friendly, welcoming and supportive to my father. He was anxious about going into a care home but soon felt very happy and at ease at Coppelia House. His room was lovely and spacious and the garden is beautiful. Through some challenging times, we feel that the staff were extremely communicative and resourceful and will always be grateful to them.
Thank you for the kind words which we will share with staff.
The wonderful staff clearly knew and valued her as an individual, and showed her care and kindness and humour. When, due to Covid lockdown, her friends weren't able to visit her at the end of her life, they made it possible to say goodbye by phone, and I have huge respect and appreciation for the work of the management and care staff in the most difficult of circumstances.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We will share with the staff who I know appreciate the recognition of the amazing work they do.
Mum only spent a short time at Coppelia but the time she was there, she was very happy and looked after very well. The staff are lovely, caring and so polite and the food was always to a great standard. The home was very clean and always smelt fresh. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Overall a home from home feel. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, which we will share with the staff.
The staff are the most kind, caring and helpful people, the home is always clean and never smells of anything other than lovely food and cleanliness. We would have no hesitation in recommending Coppelia House to anyone who wants a home from home feel with staff who are true carers.
Thank you so much for your kind words, which we will share with the staff team
Finding somewhere safe, secure and engaging for my Mum was of paramount importance to me when looking for a home for her. Despite her dementia, Mum was still a very sociable person and loved engaging with other residents. She was extremely content and happy at Coppelia House, largely due to the very caring staff and wonderful activities. She was able to maintain a certain independence and actively participate, with the encouragement of the excellent staff. I cannot speak too highly of the management and admin staff too,m who are absolutely wonderful.
Thank you for your kind review. We will pass on your praise to the staff
My mother was here for 2 2/1 years with dementia and then needing palliative care. Despite a change in managers, there was an excellent standard of care with staff going above and beyond what they needed to do to look after her and our family as the end of life approached.
Thank you for your kind words, which we will share with the Coppelia team.
My father moved to Coppelia House just before Christmas. He was very reluctant to go into residential care but, at age 99 was becoming increasingly frail and needed round the clock care. He was welcomed by the staff and quickly settled. As a family, we were kept informed and developed a comfortable relationship. My daughter was able to visit her grandfather almost daily and we felt confident that he received a very personal package of care. My thanks to all the staff. It was sad that he did not move to Coppelia earlier but his last months were a very good end to a long life.
Thank you for taking the time to review Coppelia and we are sorry for your loss. We will certainly pass on your comments to our staff
Absolutely delighted with all things at Coppelia House. I have had over 35 years experience in the NHS and from our initial visit to view the home until our loved one passed away, we have been delighted with Coppelia. Their attention to detail combined with a compassionate and genuine desire to care enhances everyone’s experience there. Such a friendly ambience is evident as you step in through the door, a dining room set up clearly, a courteous greeting from each staff member, makes you feel part of their close-knit community.
Thank you for the compliments and taking the time to review your experience visiting Coppelia
During the last few weeks of my father's life, all the staff at Coppelia House were extremely diligent, patient and kind. I could not fault the attention paid to his needs during this difficult and demanding time. The staff seemed to know him and his eccentricities well and responded to him with affection. We were kept well informed regarding the declining state of his health in the final days and were contacted in time to spend the last hour with him. The procedures that followed his passing were promptly but respectfully carried out and we were grateful for the kindness and understanding shown to us by all the staff throughout this time.
Thank you for your kind words which we will share with all the staff.
My mother was cared for at Coppelia House and my father, brother and I would like to say a huge thank you for the care, love and compassion shown by everyone from the day she came into the home until the day she passed away.
Whenever I visited I was always struck by the kindness of all the staff and the fact that nothing was ever too much trouble; it felt like a home and there was a feeling of warmth and companionship
Everyone made my mother's stay as comfortable as possible, and always encouraged her to join in as much as she could. Towards the end, all the staff showed great patience in trying to get her to eat and drink and treated her with love, respect and dignity.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words which we will pass on to all the staff.

With a genuine passion for person-centred care, I strive to create a home where every resident feels safe, valued, and truly cared for. My approach as a manager is to lead with compassion, empowering staff to work as a strong, supportive team while maintaining the highest standards of care and dignity. I started my journey with Peninsula Care Homes as a care assistant and have developed my skills through a variety of roles, including care assistant, senior care assistant, care lead and deputy manager, before becoming Coppelia House Home Manager.
I believe a care home should feel like a big family – filled with warmth, kindness, and meaningful connections.
I take pride in building trusting relationships with residents and their loved ones, ensuring they feel listened to and reassured. My goal is to create an environment where every moment matters, where residents feel at home, and staff feel proud to make a difference every day.

Laura is often the first team member a visitor will meet on arrival at Coppelia House. She lives locally and joined us in 2025. She supports the residents and home team with all administrative duties, which range from welcoming visitors, updating records, supporting compliance, and ensuring team members complete their training.
Laura was recently featured in our Meet the Team series available on our news and website.
