During the last few weeks of my father's life, all the staff at Coppelia House were extremely diligent, patient and kind. I could not fault the attention paid to his needs during this difficult and demanding time. The staff seemed to know him and his eccentricities well and responded to him with affection.
We were kept well informed regarding the declining state of his health in the final days and were contacted in time to spend the last hour with him. The procedures that followed his passing were promptly but respectfully carried out and we were grateful for the kindness and understanding shown to us by all the staff throughout this time.

My mother was cared for at Coppelia House and my father, brother and I would like to say a huge thank you for the care, love and compassion shown by everyone from the day she came into the home until the day she passed away.

Whenever I visited I was always struck by the kindness of all the staff

and the fact that nothing was ever too much trouble; it felt like a home and there was a feeling of warmth and companionship

Everyone made my mother's stay as comfortable as possible, and always encouraged her to join in as much as she could. Towards the end, all the staff showed great patience in trying to get her to eat and drink and treated her with love, respect and dignity.

Thank you.

A lovely home for my Mum for the last two years of her life and my Dad for the last months of his. Friendly and loving staff and management - lots of activities organised for residents to enjoy - always welcoming to visitors making it feel a home away from home.
Thank you for the care and love you
gave to my Mum and Dad.

I was staying with my friend when she had a call from Coppelia about her mother who is a resident there, that she was very unwell. I spent a lot of time there over the ensuing four days with my friend and her mother. The staff were very kind and respectful to the mother and absolutely lovely to the
whole family. They made me feel like family too. They just made an awful situation so much more bearable. Coppelia is clean, bright, well run and homely. I am a retired RMN manager and I have visited many homes during my career. I honestly think Coppelia is the best home I have set foot in! Well done to all. I am personally very grateful.

My Nan was very well looked after at Coppelia House and I thought all the staff and facilities were lovely. It is a country house with a great atmosphere and the room was bright with a garden view. We could not fault the care and attention she received and the support to us as a family was excellent.

My husband lived at Coppelia House for over two years, before he died in April. I recently visited, and it seems that the local management has received support to allow new ideas to be implemented. It was good to see a band of staff who have been there for years. This continuity is valuable to the
residents, particularly dementia patients. The staff being familiar with the residents, their usual moods and appearance, is helpful.

The staff tried hard to encourage residents to participate in activities and the Activities Organiser was enthusiastic and imaginative in adapting events and occupations to the individual residents. Regular musical events were popular and visibly lifted the mood of the residents.

The food was mostly excellent, dependent on the chef at the time. Willingness to offer individual choices and to permit food from home was helpful.

Families were welcome at all times.

The period property presents challenges to care, though the grounds are an asset.

Sadly my mother-in-law died at Coppelia House on 10th September 2016. She had 2 1/2 happy years there being extremely well cared for. She really loved the place. She was always treated with care and dignity. I thought that when I visited the staff were always so friendly and helpful and kind. In her
final days it was obvious to me that all the staff had done everything they could to make her comfortable as possible. It is a strange thing to say but I think she had a really good death. Much better than my parents.

My mother has lived at Coppelia House for two years. She has a good relationship with staff and residents. Recently my mother had a fall and broke her hip, the support from the manager and staff was excellent. The room that she is in is lovely and she has a view of the garden. The meals are of a good
standard and always fresh produce used. Personal care is very good and staff have always made sure mum looks clean and tidy. I feel that Coppelia House is one of the best care homes in this area and would recommend it to anyone.

From first impressions as a visitor, the care home was very clean, very pleasant and well maintained with secluded rear gardens. I was given a warm and friendly welcome. For the past 21 months, I have been a one day a week visitor, sometimes staying for lunch. Entertainment and activities have always
been good and enjoyed by the residents. I have seen a high standard of care and dedication by management and staff. Concluding, I rate it as a caring and well-organised care home.

Coppelia House has provided excellent care to a very dear friend who is 90 years old. She has been in the care of Coppelia House for nearly 3 years and has received excellent service, friendliness, care in all ways (room cleanliness, food, service, hospitality to friends, general health care and good
liaison with the local GP) throughout this stay. From the welcoming smile and friendliness of all staff to the excellent nursing care (when needed), respect for residents and general helpfulness from all those who care for the residents, this is a Home in all senses of the word and is completely recommended.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.767)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.767) out of 10 for Coppelia House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.867 for Coppelia House is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.867
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coppelia House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
