Overall Experience

When I heard that Mum was going to need the support of a residential home I was worried that her worst fears were about to come true. Neither of us could have been more wrong and we found an incredibly friendly and supportive environment at the Aveland Court. The team were approachable and caring at

every level, welcoming and flexible with visiting hours and sensitive to individual needs. The daily activities provided along with regular entertainment slots really boosted Mum's sense well being and all the residents clearly looked forward to joining in the fun. She did so well there that after a few months she was able to return to her own home.
I think that she really needed the structure and stimulation after so many years of living alone. Knowing that Mum was getting regular meals and receiving her medication in a timely manner was very reassuring for me especially. Above all she was safe and secure and I hope that if the need arose she would be able to stay there again.

Overall Experience

My Mum has not been at Aveland Court long and has taken a long time to settle in but with the care and attention from management and staff, I have recently seen a huge improvement. The staff gives time up to sit and chat with her making sure she has all she needs and is happy. I have a huge sense of

Overall Experience

Since my Mum came to Aveland Court, she has been more settled and happy than in previous places. The staff are all kind, and caring and nothing is ever too much trouble. They have helped my Mum settle so well into the home and made her room feel like a safe space that's her own and also decorated it

in colours my Mm had chosen. There is always something to keep my Mum entertained such as days out, activities, and live entertainment. Aveland Court is an amazing place that feels more like a family rather than a care home. This home was most definitely the right decision we could have made for Mum.

My mother feels well cared for and safe. The staff are very supportive to my mother's neds. Any concerns I have about my mother, the staff are always willing to listen and act as necessary. There are always lots of activities, although my mother does not wish to take part.

Our mum was taken to Aveland Court after leaving the hospital but was not able to return home because she was not fit and home needed things done so she could cope.
The staff were all really nice and very kind, and their caring was so good. She has not returned home, and we are very happy with all

Overall Experience

Aveland Court is an outstanding care home. Every member of it's staff shows love and affection and nothing is too much trouble.
Aveland Court is spotlessly clean, the meals provided are wholesome, fresh and beautifully cooked. My mother's room is light and spacious and has her own pictures and ornaments

around her. There are daily activities like gentle exercise, a singer, pet visitors (very much appreciated by my mum), bingo, arts and crafts and much more. It's created a new happy chapter of Mum's life. She is happy and so am I. Feel so happy to have found Aveland Court.

I want to say a big thank you to Aveland Court staff for a lovely Easter Party for family, friends and residents. It was lovely to see so many people and lots of children joining in with the well thought out activities. There was live music, games, an egg hunt and a fantastic buffet.

The manager and the team here are all wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are kind, caring and patient. I will take home(as here for rehab), many beautiful moments of their love and care. As a vegetarian, my food was chosen with care by the kitchen staff.

Overall Experience

My dad recently suffered a problem that left him almost completely blind. This, with the associated psychological trauma, was overwhelming to all of us, but obviously to him in particular. His emotional state improved almost immediately since coming to Aveland Court and he is overall much happier. The

whole of the staff here are amazing. They are unfailingly kind, and some of them will even pop in to see him as soon as they arrive at work, or before they leave, as well as finding time to pop in and out to chat with him throughout the day. He is surrounded by new friends who care for him and as a result, he is happier and more settled than he had been for some time. I cannot recommend Aveland Court highly enough. I didn't believe that this type of excellent care existed anymore.

Overall Experience

Mum lived at Aveland Court for over 4 years and very recently passed away there (June 2020).
I fully understand why the home was awarded these results by the CQC in early March 2020, but so much has changed over a very short period. I believe it would be unfair for anyone to think that this is still

the current situation. Our experience is the complete opposite of the CQC findings. There is a new permanent management team in place, and everybody is working extremely hard to improve and it really shows. They even now have a professional chef who has devised a wide and varied menu of tempting meals for residents.
My husband and I spent mums last few days with her at the home, both night and day. During that time, we witnessed first-hand how hard all the staff worked and how well they interacted with residents in a variety of circumstances. It was far more like an extended family.
On a personal level, all the staff, without exception were simply A M A Z I N G with our mum and also with accommodating us at a difficult time. They organised everything that mum needed quickly and efficiently around her changing needs, which made such a positive difference to her final days and reassured us as well. They incorporated numerous additional tasks into their already busy shifts and all with a smile and a kind word. I have always felt that my mum was treated with respect and dignity and this was very evident during our time there. Nothing was too much trouble.
Even though there is always much to do and the nature of the conditions that the home provide care for can be challenging, there is a caring, happy, positive and professional atmosphere in the home. I am glad that my mum was surrounded by such lovely caring people where nothing was too much trouble at the end of her life.
The staff even took on additional tasks on our behalf to make things easier for us so that everything was perfect for mum before she passed away – Thank you Aveland Court!
So here is our review
Caring – Excellent Thank you all so much. Your care made all the difference. I don’t think that mum could have been surrounded by a more caring and dedicated team of professional and effective people, especially during her final difficult days.
Effective – I was amazed at how the staff knew exactly what mum needed and when. Additional services, medication and equipment were put in place as soon as it was identified as being needed. Staff liaised well with external services that were needed as well.
Responsive – Additional items and elements were implemented to help mum and ensure that she was as happy and comfortable as she could possibly be e.g. erecting a hospital bed within a couple of hours of the GP recommending it. Arranging Last Rights within 15 minutes of the request being made.
Safe – We witnessed great care being taken with all residents throughout our time in the care home. It was clear that staff are dedicated, well trained and take residents safety seriously.
Well-led – In our opinion, the new manager and her team are doing a sterling job as are the dedicated team of care staff that they lead. Everyone seems to be pulling in the same direction and striving for still further improvements.
Overall – We have no hesitation in recommending Aveland Court Care Home as a safe, caring and welcoming place for a loved one.
