Kingsmount have been amazing in looking after my father when he returned home from Spain after a stroke, they treated him with care , compassion and dignity. Always doing their very best to meet his needs and kept us informed of anything that we needed to know, always answering any of our questions in a friendly and caring manner.
Thankyou Daryl for this review, it is lovely to read your kind words and I will pass them to our staff.
Without exception staff are clearly confident and genuinely care for those living in the home
I was never in doubt that my husband was being very well cared for and that he was safe in their care
Whilst visiting it was evident that this level of comprehensive care was shared with all of the ladies and gents living at kingsmount, as I witnessed numerous interactions all very respectful
My husband wasn't initially keen on the need for respite care but the team at kingsmount won him over.
Thankyou so much for this lovely review, I am so glad you were happy with the care at Kingsmount. Your husband was a pleasure for us to support.
My mother initially chose Kings Mount after seeing how my father Jim was being treated, some years ago. They moved into a double room and thoroughly enjoyed their life, being pampered. After my father passed away, Mom was very happy to stay in the residence in a smaller room, but still being pampered. Towards the end of her life I never had any worries about the wonderful care she received. I give a very heartfelt thanks to all the lovely staff who tended her.
Thankyou so much for this lovely review, Your Mum was a pleasure for our staff to support. I will pass on your review to the team at Kingsmount.
My Uncle arrived at "Kingsmount" in 2018, with his wife joining him a few weeks later. The care that they both received was exemplary from both the staff and the management that the both of them decided it was sensible choice for them to stay at "Kingsmount" permanently. Upon the sad death of my Uncle in 2019, my Aunt was relieved to be able to move the single room that she desired (with views across the bay). That was it - she was settled and being looked after and this was her home! Every Christmas and Birthday (and National Day I understand) was celebrated with cakes. The excellent weekly entertainment varied from singers & magicians to animal encounters. All of her care needs were met and reviewed constantly and she was always saying that she was putting on weight because the food was so tasty. She made many friends with the staff, in particular Di, Min and Brennan, and I want to thank you all for the peace of mind you provided in the care of both my Aunt and Uncle
Thankyou so much for this lovely feedback which I will share with the whole team. Your aunt was a pleasure to support and communications with the wider family always easy and relaxed. Thankyou for trusting us with your aunts care.
The care my nan has received is second to none. She was admitted with EOL from hospital as was in a very bad state. Kingsmount gave excellent care and gave her a new lease of life. Personal centred care is excellent, helping her with her hair and make up and eccentric clothing. Management and Staff has always be open and transparent about all nans care and door has always been open if i need to discuss anything. They are able to identify her early signs of detiorioration and act promptly. Being in healthcare I have always been weary of any homes, but I feel safe and at ease knowing my nan is in safe hands. Entertainment and social activities are extremely good, always stuff going on, nan likes her room mainly has the option to go to the lounge if she wishes, Dianne is brilliant with 121 activities. Thanks Kingsmount for being caring and providing excellent care.
Thankyou so for this lovely review, it means so much to our team to hear such positive feedback. Thanks for trusting Kingsmount with your Nan's care.
We placed our father in Kingsmount in November 2025 as his dementia meant he could no longer live alone. Although the home claims dementia care as its specialism, the manager, Brennan, gave notice to the local authority on day six without informing us first. He stated my father's behaviour was "too extreme" for them to manage, despite initially assuring us they could meet my father's needs. When I asked Brennan for guidance, he offered none and instead said he had never had to give notice to a resident before, which added shame and anxiety during an already difficult time. After this, Brennan often seemed too busy or distracted to address our concerns. With the local authority's support, we found a more suitable home. When the social worker asked about our father's stay, I relayed what Brennan had told me. The social worker was concerned, explaining that Brennan has issued notice to residents many times. A distinct lack of care from a 'care' home manager, at an immensely stressful time
Thank you for the feedback, it has saddened me to read this amongst more positive reviews. I will investigate where we can improve our assessment process for new residents. We receive information from referrals and visit potential residents at home, often a family member will be present so that we...
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to the wonderful staff at Kingsmount who allowed our Mum's final days to be so peaceful and dignified.
Thank you for this lovely review, your mother was a pleasure to care for. I am so pleased that you felt our team did well.
Kingsmount Care Home was truly amazing both before and after my husband passed away. The staff were compassionate, attentive and went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and well cared for. Even after he passed, their kindness and support meant so much to me and my family. I can't thank them enough for the love and respect they showed me during such a difficult time.
Thank you so much for this lovely review, we are so happy to hear that you were pleased with the staff and the home. He was a pleasure to care for.
The staff were very attentive and professional. When I went to sit with my mum, if I was there for an hour, two or three different people would come to check she was comfortable. The home called nurses and ambulances when Mum needed them. The room was spacious and clean. All staff were caring and I really felt that they looked after my mum well.
I will pass on your feedback to the Home Manager and all the teams involved in the care of your Mum. We are very proud of our carers and staff at Kingsmount and they are always appreciative of hearing lovely comments so thank you for providing that.
I can not recommend this care home highly enough. From the moment Mum went in till she left she was treated so well. She loved all of the staff from management and care staff to cleaners and catering staff. As relatives we were kept informed of everything that was going on regarding Mum and always made to feel very welcome. On the day she left she was visited by so many care staff and the management team which meant so much to her. Quite simply an outstanding care home.
Thankyou so much for this outstanding review. Your Mum was a pleasure to know. Her energy during our afternoon entertainments was infectious. I will pass your kind words to the whole team.
Very good care home, with excellent caring staff, always made welcome when visiting and always kept informed of any accidents or incidents. Would recommend this care home.
Thankyou for this review, we are very pleased that you were happy with the the home.
He was looked after wonderfully for the three and a half years and I was always impressed with the cheerful and positive attitude exhibited by all the staff I met and spoke with on the phone.
The manager, in particular, has always been a calm and capable voice at times of concern and I was moved to hear that one staff member in particular had visited my uncle in hospital in his final few days.
Thankyou so much for your kind words, we so very pleased that you were happy with the care at Kingsmount, We were all very fond of your uncle and he was a pleasure to look after.
Mum was at Kingsmount for 18 months the care team have always been very friendly, kind, and cared for Mum in a fantastic way, Mum has now passed away and I would like to thank the whole team at Kingsmount for all the care and attention they have shown. Their support has been so appreciated by our whole family.
Thank you for your kind words. Your Mum was a pleasure to look after for as long as we were able. Our Care staff are amazing and your comments will be passed on and appreciated by all.
My mother was a resident at Kingsmount Residential Home from February 2023 until she sadly passed aways in October 2024. The team at Kingsmount made every effort to meet her changing needs and her various likes and dislikes! My mother loved to talk to her carers about their lives and families, all of the team were so lovely to her and she made some lovely friends. During the last few days of her life, everyone at Kingsmount was exceptional in caring for our mother and in care and support for myself, my sister and family.
Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure to look after your mum for as long as we were able. She was loved by all and will be missed. I will ensure your comments are passed on to our carers and all the teams involved.
My mother entered the care home 4 years ago on end-of-life care. The staff have treated her so well with kindness and understanding I cannot praise them enough. Although she cannot enjoy the communal facilities she is quite happy in her room with a lovely view.
Dad has been a resident at Kingsmount since the beginning of the year. His dementia can make him difficult to deal with at times, particularly with regard to personal care. The staff have been extremely patient with him and have ensured that they build a rapport with him so that he is not so resistant to care, to the point where he now participates in activities in the lounge much more than he ever used to. We are extremely grateful for this level of care and the staff's determination to maintain his quality of life.
Thank you so much for your kind review, we love to see our residents engaged in activities in the lounge.
The staff at Kingsmount are friendly, welcoming and caring. I am kept updated on any issues or changes that happen and they contact me regularly to ensure I am happy with the service that they are providing. They have been very helpful and quick to provide any information that we have needed and to assist with any changes that we have requested. My mother is very happy and settled in this home.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this review and I am pleased to know that your mother is happy and settled.
As a family we were very anxious about Mum going into residential care but from the beginning she was shown care, respect and the staff couldn't do enough for her. Sometimes it's not easy for the person needing 24-hour care to settle but the staff from management down are excellent in making this happen. There are plenty of staff to sit with Mum when she needs it and always tea and cake. There are regular activities in the afternoon from outside entertainers and an activities coordinator on the staff for crafting. The meals are very good and the catering staff quickly got to know Mum's likes and dislikes. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kingsmount and thank you to all the staff for looking after Mum.
Thankyou for your review, it's so nice to hear that the team are helping to make your Mum feel settled.
Any improvement would be the consistency of care could be improved.
Thank you for providing this feedback. I will ensure the home manager is aware of the points you raise. We are always looking for ways we could better manage the care given to our lovely residents and if consistency can be improved on, we will certainly look to achieve this. It was a pleasure looking after your mum for the time that we did.
My Mum has been at Kingsmount for the last three weeks following a long hospital stay. I cannot fault the lovely staff here, they have gone out of their way to make her feel safe, happy and comfortable. Thank you all at Kingsmount for all your help and support.
Thank you for your kind words. It was an absolute pleasure looking after your Mum for the short time that we did. We hope she settles and enjoys her time in her new home.

Brennan joined GrayAreas Ltd just after the Grays bought their first home back in 2002. He worked his way up through the ranks starting at Mount Olivet and then moving to Kingsmount where he was quickly promoted to Senior Carer. In June 2015, Brennan accepted the post of Deputy Manager and then became the Registered Manager in June 2019.
His dedication, commitment and leadership have seen the home maintain the CQC Good rating and his compassion and warmth shown to residents, relatives and staff alike are a further testament to the quality of care he encourages from all his staff.
Brennan has a level 5 NVQ qualification and maintains an ongoing training schedule in order to keep up to date on various health and care issues.
He is an asset to our team and is available to chat with on our landline number.

Having worked in care since being a teenager, Diane joined Kingsmount as a senior care assistant in 2016. After a few years at Kingsmount, she moved to our sister home, Mount Olivet Nursing Home, continuing in her care assistant role.
Wanting a change from care work but keen to stay in the caring profession, Diane was offered the opportunity to take on the role of activities coordinator at Kingsmount. And she jumped at the chance!
Diane's role is to create and organise various activities to stimulate the residents' physical, mental and emotional well-being at Kingmount. Her work covers a broad remit from coordinating family visits to organising craft activities and spending one-to-one time with the residents.
Originally from Brixham, Diane lives in Paignton, just a short walk from Kingsmount. Outside of work, she is a regular volunteer with St. Johns Ambulance.
