Buxton House is a warm and welcoming residential and dementia care home in Weymouth, Dorset. With a light and airy atmosphere, the home allows residents to live their lives as if in the comfort of their own homes whilst being cared for by committed, professionally trained staff.

Buxton House has 64 ensuite single bedrooms, divided into four wings to create a homely feel. Each wing has its own spacious lounge/diner and kitchen area.

Buxton House provides compassionate care for those who can longer live independently and also offers intermediate care for people requiring a short period of rehabilitation.

All residents can enjoy a wide variety of activities and entertainment in and around the home, plus outings in the Care South minibus to local landmarks and attractions.

I cannot fault the care that dad has so far received since he started living at Buxton House in March. The home is always clean and tidy when I visit and dad is always dressed in clean clothes and wearing a tie which is important to him.

Mum was very apprehensive about moving into residential care, but the thoughtful and caring staff are so good and patient this made it so much easier. She settled really quickly and loves it. Always clean, tidy and welcoming.

Very impressed with Buxton House, clean and nice light. The staff are wonderful always finding time to talk to the residents and making them laugh. Our mum has settled in very well and says she thinks Buxton House is just like staying in a hotel. Mum seems very happy and that's thanks to the management
and staff.

Moving my nan out of her house and finding a care home for her to spend the rest of her life was both stressful and upsetting for our family - but seeing how happy she is at Buxton House has been a relief to us all. We are so grateful for every member of staff that shows her such love and kindness.
She loves the days out and knitting afternoon. Thank you all for giving my nan a lovely home to live in for the rest of her life.

My mother has been a resident at Buxton House since June 2018. She is extremely happy here. It is a huge relief to the family to find such a lovely care home. The staff are all caring towards my mother and she is always telling us how happy she is living there.

I have been visiting a resident friend at Buxton House for nearly five years and throughout that time I've been very impressed with the high standard of quality care available. There is always a friendly welcome on arrival and the "feel good" factor that permeates all departments is even more evident
the longer one stays. Facilities are second to none and it's very obvious that all who work there take great pride in what they do. I have nothing but praise for everybody involved, especially at Christmas when generosity abounds. One never looks forward to life in a care home, but if ever failing health left me with no alternative Buxton House would be my first choice. I have visited many people in many care homes over the years and all others fall short in comparison. Well done!

During the course of my father-in-law's stay he was cared for in a friendly, attentive and dignified way, his family were welcomed and made to feel a part of his care. The environment was suitable for his needs bright and clean. Staff were helpful and often went above and beyond.

During my husbands stay at Buxton House he, and indeed myself were treated with the utmost respect. The care shown to him was everything I could have wished for and enabled him to end his life in a caring and lovely setting. I will always be grateful.

I visited my partner every day since she was admitted.
The staff are excellent and make me feel at home. I observe the staff working with residents. Food is very good, rooms clean, tables laid out very well. Staff very helpful.

I am the next of kin of one of the residents who wishes to remain anonymous. I also have power if attorney over his affairs, although he is very satisfied overall. One very significant aspect is lacking. The food is abysmally poor in nutrition, the meat is always very tough and the stew a mass of tasteless
mess, with no sign of any onion (the most basic ingredient in a stew).
His once weekly meal with me outside is his special treat - please set this matter right asap. Thank you.

This care home was wonderful, they looked after my Nan so well, kept her motivated, had her laughing with VE celebrations, and many other activities. If she didn't sleep well she would keep the night nurse company and chat. One young lady even let her brush and plait her hair, which she got such enjoyment
from. The staff go above and beyond in every way, and I can never thank them enough for all their effort, care and work.

“I have worked in the Health and Social Care sector since I was old enough to be employed; whilst continuing to study, develop and achieve the skills and qualifications I have.


I began my career working with Care South as a Care Assistant and progressed to my present role as Home Manager of Buxton House. I initially began my journey at Buxton House and worked across the company in different locations – I am so glad to be back!


Ensuring every day is meaningful for the people we care for is what drives me and the team at Buxton House to give the best possible service.


We aim to support our residents and be involved in the care we provide; to enhance their independence in confidence, knowing we can support them with our person-centred approach.
