Buxton House is a warm and welcoming residential and dementia care home in Weymouth, Dorset. With a light and airy atmosphere, the home allows residents to live their lives as if in the comfort of their own homes whilst being cared for by committed, professionally trained staff.

Buxton House has 64 ensuite single bedrooms, divided into four wings to create a homely feel. Each wing has its own spacious lounge/diner and kitchen area.

Buxton House provides compassionate care for those who can longer live independently and also offers intermediate care for people requiring a short period of rehabilitation.

All residents can enjoy a wide variety of activities and entertainment in and around the home, plus outings in the Care South minibus to local landmarks and attractions.

An excellent home, the staff and management are always professional, respectful and cheerful and always go out their way to help in any way they can to help resolve any issues we as a family have when it comes to my mums care.
My mum is very happy at Buxton House as she’s treated more like a family
member than a resident by all the staff and she enjoys all the company that Buxton House has to offer in other residents and staff alike.
I drop in quite often to see my mum throughout the week (pre-covid) if only for a quick 10-minute chat, I've even dropped in at odd times and they are always accommodating and I feel this is one of the best things about Buxton house, it’s more an open house with excellent care for my mum as she’s never looked so well cared for!
It’s always clean and well presented in all areas and mums room is very roomy with all the home comforts she wishes for.
A great home with excellent friendly staff and management.

My mum has mixed dementia, she has been struggling to manage in her flat, and it got to the stage of Mum needing 24-hour care, which we provided as a family, but this just could not go on. Doing so, Mum did not know who we were or where she was although she has lived in the same flat for 18-years, and
was very sad and very depressed and couldn’t really do much for herself at all. Mum has now been at Buxton House for just over two weeks. My brother visited her yesterday, and we, as a family, cannot get over the transformation; she looks 30-years younger and is definitely much happier - she was just existing in her flat and now she is living a much happier life. We cannot thank Buxton House and all the staff enough. Mum says they are all lovely people. I can’t wait to visit Mum and see the difference for myself, but for now, I’m so happy and thankful that Mum has a fabulous place to live. Thank you all so appreciated.

Mum spent 5-weeks at Buxton House during the lockdown, so unable to comment on rooms, food, activities etc. All staff were helpful and cheerful when contacted by phone. No alternative to calling was offered for speaking with Mum. The site manager did not contact or return calls during the entire stay,
preferring to delegate his work. Mum had nothing but praise for the kindness, patience and hardworking staff that care for her. Thank you.

I'm a granddaughter of a resident and I must say I honestly think Buxton House is the best place for her. She's well looked after and tells me she loves the food and the carers are amazing and do an outstanding job keeping her safe. They do a wide variety of activities and we enjoy seeing all the photos.
When visiting was allowed, I must say the care home was well presented and looked beautiful at Christmas with all the decorations.

Buxton House is a very good care home. My mum is settled and very happy there and I couldn’t ask for a better care home for Mum. The management and staff are friendly and professional. In my contact with Buxton House on behalf of my brother, I find them very cooperative and helpful. It is clear that the wellbeing and care of their residents is paramount, which is exemplified by the extended care necessary for their residents during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I find that their contact
with relatives by telephone, such as monthly health updates, immediate contact for any health issues arising, call for direct assistance from relatives if needed, etc. is very assuring. The addition of Skype to their care armoury is reassuring for both resident and relatives.
Their organised activities for residents and apparent connections with the local community adds greatly to the wellbeing and standard of life of the residents.

Wonderful home and carers who took my mum in during the first lockdown. Mum has dementia and care needs and I cannot thank them enough for the care they provide her every day.

Since Mum has been in Buxton House, she has been a real challenge to the staff. She has settled in, and I'm sure she is happy there. Since covid, it has been difficult for all concerned, but the staff have stepped up and stood in the gap and made an effort to be able to get to see Mum. They keep us

I visited my mum for the first time since she became a resident at Buxton House. Despite the visit being limited to 15 minutes due to the current restrictions, it was a very pleasant experience. The visit had been prepared for by the staff in a very thoughtful way. The staff were extremely attentive
to both my mum and my dad and me who were visiting. They took great care of mum and dad since the visit was conducted outside they took care to ensure she was wrapped up warmly enough and comfortable.

It is clear that not all staff are aware of the residents changing needs. For example a full tea cup/mug can be handed to a resident when it should be known they cannot hold it and sometimes it is put to their side or other position where they are not able to reach and lift it.

The completion of this review is my first and I should like to say that from day one, I have been entirely satisfied. From the outset, I have been most impressed with the high standard of Buxton House and the complete professionalism of the staff from top to bottom. I have to say that I am surprised

It is always a stressful and worrying decision when it is necessary to introduce a much-loved parent into the care of a residential home. I have been extremely encouraged and pleased as to how well my mother is settling down in Buxton House after only two weeks. The staff, always with a smile, are caring,
helpful and positive. I am now much more sure that we have made the correct decision with regard to mum's happiness, calmness and safety.

My mother moved into the dementia department of Buxton House on 5th January 2020, after losing her husband in November 2019. Having visited our mother every day since my sister and I have been more than happy with her care here. All the staff, without exception, are very caring and attentive, nothing
is too much trouble. The food is excellent with a good choice and our mother has improved in health and temperament already while living here. Our hope is that she can live the rest of her life in peace and comfort. We feel that this may well happen.

There is no better place my dad or our family would rather his care be than Buxton House. The love, care, compassion and hard work by all staff members is amazing. After 2 months, dad is happy and content. He constantly says how beautiful the home is, how good the food is and mostly, how wonderful all
the staff are. We also agree 100%.
Thank you Buxton House for the amazing care you give to my dad. You are all angels. We wouldn't want dad to be anywhere else for his care.

Staff excellent. Very caring and friendly.
Nothing too much trouble. Food is also very good and enjoyable. The home is beautiful and I wouldn't choose to be anywhere else other than at home.

My mum has been a resident at Buxton House for about 7 years and she has always had the best of care. The staff are very caring, attentive, friendly and helpful. I am very glad my mum is there - I can relax in the knowledge that she is getting the very best of attention and care which a frail 98-year-old

“I have worked in the Health and Social Care sector since I was old enough to be employed; whilst continuing to study, develop and achieve the skills and qualifications I have.


I began my career working with Care South as a Care Assistant and progressed to my present role as Home Manager of Buxton House. I initially began my journey at Buxton House and worked across the company in different locations – I am so glad to be back!


Ensuring every day is meaningful for the people we care for is what drives me and the team at Buxton House to give the best possible service.


We aim to support our residents and be involved in the care we provide; to enhance their independence in confidence, knowing we can support them with our person-centred approach.
