Fairlawn is a warm and friendly residential and dementia care home in the heart of Ferndown, Dorset, offering compassionate care in a home-from-home atmosphere.

Fairlawn has 60 ensuite bedrooms over three floors and plenty of communal areas for residents to relax or socialise in, including a conservatory with direct access to a beautiful garden.

The experienced and well trained team at Fairlawn provides care for those who can no longer live independently, whether they are physically frail or suffering from dementia. All residents can enjoy a wide variety of activities and entertainment in and around the home, plus outings in the Care South minibus to local landmarks and attractions.

We would like to thank all the amazing team at Fairlawn Care Home for all their love, care and support in making the final year of our dear mama's life memorable, enjoyable and comfortable. We as her family were so very fortunate that Mama passed with such dignity and care that the team provided, not
only for dear mama; however also for her family. My sister and myself were treated with privacy and respect. The care team went above and beyond both day and night in supplying us with anything that we needed. In todays fast paced world where working in the care sector is very challenging, stressful and hugely underpaid for the workload that is required for our loved ones; it is reassuring to know that there are still quality care providers in our local community such as Care South. We will keep in contact and visit your memory garden in the beautiful grounds of Fairlawn and take time to reflect and remember dear Mama.

My daughter is in a care home as she has MS and could no longer live at home. She is very well looked after, the staff are always lovely and very helpful. She has a very nice room with her personal belongings and the gardens are very well-kept and beautiful to go and sit in. Since she has been a resident
I haven't worried about her so much as she has all she needs and if she needs medical assistance the staff sort it for her.

My mum came into Fairlawns for two weeks of respite - very poorly. After two weeks she said she didn't want to go home and the difference in her is amazing. The staff have been wonderful. She really enjoys all the activities and the staff work hard to keep them entertained. Well looked after in all
departments including food.

I’ve recently had a short stay at Fairlawn whilst my family were away. The care staff were excellent, food was delicious and I can’t fault the home. Highly recommend for a short stay. Very convenient location, close to where I live so I was able to continue to see my friends.

I found Fairlawns very friendly the staff were caring and did their very best and I greatly admire their patience with some very difficult situations. The managers were not always great but the managers there at the moment, I found very friendly, and they made me feel welcome.

My experience of the care home in which my wife now resides is excellent. The care provided far surpasses the previous care home and all she was interested in when she was in hospital for a month was "when can I go home to my room?" The staff are real carers and friendly with their charges. The food
there has room for improvement but then again you cannot please all the residents all of the time.

My mother is cared for very well which gives her family relief. Sometimes her clothes, handkerchiefs and other items belonging to her which are named/labelled go missing. They sometimes come back but sometimes not such as a handkerchief and laundry bag which my eldest sister bought for her in Madiera.
We trust and respect all the staff and wish the government would pay them the same as nurses. God help us if carers went on strike.

Generally mum and I are very happy with everything at the home. If mum has anything to say about the home, it's about the food and cost of care and sometimes the activities. But you can't please everybody all the time.

Always a warm welcome is offered to me when I visit the home. Staff know who I am and who I am visiting. My mother is very well cared for, he room is always clean and tidy, and staff respect her privacy and how her room has all her personal items, i.e. pictures and ornaments around, which are left as
she wants them. She has choices of activities, hairdresser etc, and they meet her needs with her choice of food. Overall, she is happy there, which is what is important for us both.

I've always been grateful for the care Fairlawn has shown my mum, and the dedication of the staff, particularly in the times of Covid, however since the new manager has been in the home I've definitely seen an improvement in the standard of care/communication. The manager sets a great example in her
work ethic, wearing many a hat,(manager, carer etc). All staff that I've met couldn't be any more dedicated to their roles with little thanks in means of pay from our government.
