Since my husband came into Fairlawn, I personally have been treated with sympathy, kindness and compassion by all staff and my husband has been made to feel welcome, cared for and respected.

When we encountered a problem recently, I was extremely impressed with the manner in which the management went the extra mile to solve it.

Carers dedicated, very amicable, treat my wife with friendly respect and nothing is too much trouble.
Quite happy for her to stay as she is safe and cared for.
Unfortunately, a shortage of carers at times is a notable problem (throughout the area).
Food is marked as good - but I haven't tasted it!

Presentation of food could improve.

Rooms adequate, staff helpful. My wife is treated with reasonable care and dignity. I can't remark on meals because I am never there to see.
Cleanliness is very good.

But I do think a member of the staff should be in the rest room all the time the residents are there. There are long times when staff are not there. My wife has no complaints, if she is happy I'm happy.

As husband of resident, I sleep well relaxed in the knowledge that my wife is getting thoughtful and kind care all of the time. I am with her every day and would quickly see any change in Fairlawn.

Excellent, caring staff, office staff and meals. 3 years of care "so far"

Staff are very helpful and address any problems with tact and understanding. They are always cheerful and helpful. My wife is happy and I am also. Activities are only for third floor on Wednesday morning and this is not enough.

Overall Experience
My mother, a resident at Fairlawns for 5 years, is very well cared for. Occasionally she has needed medical care and this has been provided without delay. The level of staff care and support during these times of need is excellent, and I'm kept fully and quickly informed of changes.
Mom is completely content in her home, and her relationship with the staff is a delight to see. Their understanding of her needs, both physical and emotional, is excellent.
She doesn't always choose to join in with activities, which is respected and understood by the staff, but she readily accepts invitations to trips out and has had some memorable, yes! memorable, visits to local events. Her joy on these occasions delights her accompanying carers and the appreciation and value of these jaunts is heartwarming.

The accommodation, which includes some of her own meaningful furniture, is simple and comfortable. Meals are simple, nutritious and familiar to Mom and perfectly appropriate.

Fairlawn is a wonderful home from home. My husband is always treated with great kindness and respect. All the carers that I have met are really excellent at their jobs. The home is cleaned to a high standard and the food is very good. Myself and my two daughters are so grateful for the excellent service.

Mum is very happy in this home. She is now in a wheelchair and in the later stages of Alzheimer's but they take good care of her. She is clean and tidy and likes having her nails done.
The staff are friendly and caring. Mum is included in activities and recently went out for afternoon tea.

My daughter is a solicitor working in private client and recommends Care South, having seen this home, to her clients.

My brother has been in Fairlawn for 5 years and has always been well cared for, my wife and I feel he is being well looked after and cared for to a high standard. The staff are always friendly and helpful in caring for him. We would like to express our thanks for the effort of all the staff on the occasion of him receiving his "Legion of Honour" from the French government on Jan 9th 2016. They could not have been more helpful and enthusiastic. Well done to the manager and all staff.

My husband has Alzheimer's which affects his speech and ability to walk without help. He has always been a happy man no grumbles. I had been caring for him with help until I had to go into hospital. My husband has been in Fairlawn since April, he has settled in well and he likes being with other people. All the staff are very kind and helpful. I go to see him every other day if possible and sometimes help at mealtimes. The food is tasty and varied. There was an open day yesterday which we all enjoyed and I hope to go to Mudeford next time they visit. I have not put excellent for activities because my husband cannot answer questions.

Review from Pauline J (Friend of Resident) published on 1 September 2015 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I would just like to say a few words, when my friend first went to Fair Lawns, it wasn't good. The people there were quite good but it had a nasty smell, stained chairs which you did not want to sit on; there is no need. For this even if it is old it can be clean and stain free, but since the new manager has taken over, he has turned the home around. It is now a much brighter, beautiful home and very welcoming. It has helped the staff and residents alike, a good job well done.

My parents in law came into the home this year. The care they have received is 100%. The staff and manager always greet us when we visit and are so caring. The home is always spotless and their bedroom is always clean and tidy. Nothing is too much trouble and I am always informed of any problems regarding them. The meals are good and they enjoy the activities. So yes I would recommend Fairlawn at Ferndown.
