My father in law was in the care of Larks Leas rest home for the last six years of his life. Throughout his stay there, he was cared for at all times with complete dignity and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the management and care team went above and beyond at all times to make his stay
with them as pleasurable as possible. If asked to sum up in a few words what Larks is truly like, I would have to say a real home from home with unconditional care and kindness from the whole of the team and a genuine want to please and look after the residents. In our experience we felt that the Larks team treated all the residents as individuals and were always thoughtful and considerate towards them. As well as the usual holidays and high days, milestone birthdays or celebrations were never overlooked without a wonderful social gathering or party taking place. My family and I would not hesitate in thoroughly recommending Larks Leas for your nearest and dearest. Such wonderful care xx

The management could not have been more helpful from the first phone call to enquire, then from hospital to their care, was stress free and very efficient, always with a smile and all the staff of every part of the care home had the same courtesy and respect. Add to that the food was excellent.

I cannot thank Becky and all the care staff at Lark Leas enough for their professionalism and care. My Aunt resided at Lark Leas for several years before she passed away in November 2025. The warm family atmosphere at Lark Leas gave our family much comfort knowing my Aunt was well cared for and happy.
She enjoyed the activities laid on every day, particularly the singing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lark Leas and the care team for their kindness and care.

The care home is so friendly and very caring the residents are so well looked after. They have social activities most days, outings regularly always a birthday cake for all residents.
The atmosphere is so nice when you go in the lounge, so much chatting and laughing.
The meals are super, our friend
enjoys everything and ha looked so much better since being there.

My Dad went into Larks Leas about a year after my Mother passed away, we had looked at a couple of care establishments for him, but we felt comfortable with Larks after a visit, he did have a choice of rooms and he chose a smaller one, mainly as it offered him a view of the garden.
The staff at the
home are friendly and informative, they would always contact me if Dad needed anything or they wanted to discuss anything. I felt happy that Dad was in good hands and wanted for nothing. Can't recommend Larks enough.

Yesterday, I was invited to a garden party with musical entertainment at Larks Leas. During the 'very warm' afternoon we were waited on by the very friendly staff with cold drinks. Then we enjoyed a delicious cream tea, after which we spent time chatting in the lovely shady garden. My cousin has been
a resident for several years and I know the saying is 'there's no place like home' but the change we've seen since she moved into care is 'incredble'.

The manager at Larks Leas was excellent at explaining everything about life at the care home and the financial requirements. The staff are exceptionally friendly and on first name terms with the residents. They succeed in making the stay have a home from home feeling. Residents views are taken into
account and acted upon. We couldn't be happier that we found this home.

Mum had become frail and needed care, although she did not instantly accept her predicament and the reliance on others. The whole team at Larks Leas did their utmost to welcome and integrate Mum, initially for respite but with a view to it becoming permanent.
The room was freshly decorated, had a pleasant
garden view and felt comfortable and homely. Mum was a somewhat fussy vegetarian but the kitchen staff did their utmost to help find her food and choices that she liked. Having experienced some rather poor treatment from two different hospitals the whole atmosphere and level of care provided by Larks Leas was very reassuring and we knew that Mum was being cared for properly. Integrated correctly with treatment from local GPs and nurses.
Without a doubt, it was a difficult decision to place Mum into a care home but Larks Leas did their utmost to make the transition as smooth as possible. I would not hesitate to recommend them as an ideal location for residential care.

Mom was very independent and reluctant to go into care. So back in late 2021, we arranged initially for her to have a 'holiday' for two or three weeks at a highly recommended rest home. She felt so happy and secure at Larks Leas that she remained on her holiday until January 2024 when she passed away
at the age of 91. Mom being a very gregarious soul enjoyed the community, and made one or two very special friends, who along with the caring staff made her sojourn at Larks a delightful period in her life. The living conditions at the home were excellent, Larks is not a huge old building like some care homes, it is a fairly modern building with a nice intimate friendly feel to it. Her room was lovely and well-kept. Mother was always a good cook herself and greatly appreciated the fine meals provided by the kitchens, good variety every day. And finally to the staff and home management, who were excellent, helpful, and supportive at all times, thank you for looking after my mother so well.

Mum spent her last few years at Larks Lees. She arrived after being in an interim placement during Covid. She was helped to feel at home and secure. Her room was beautiful and overlooked the gardens. Mum, unfortunately, developed dementia and became bedridden, and the care and love shown to her were
outstanding.
She passed away whilst I was abroad, but I was informed daily of the situation, and the most amazing caring staff, including Mum's ‘angel’ stayed with her the entire time. I will be forever grateful that I found Larks Lees for Mum.

The care my mum received from the home was always personal and professional.
Mum was made to feel part of a family, and she always enjoyed taking part in the activities and got on well with the residents. At Mum's end-of-life care, the home went over and above to make Mum's last days as happy and restful
as possible.

After a few years of my 91-year-old father trying to remain living independently he finally, and sadly, conceded that he could no longer cope living at home. After a fair bit of research, we settled on Larks Leas. And thank goodness we did. It's been a wonderful, reassuring experience for what could
have a been traumatic life-changing event. Dad settled in instantly. The staff are so brilliant, caring and friendly, all of them. Dad literally has a new lease of life. Everywhere is clean, the garden is gorgeous. As a family, we are kept fully updated and always made to feel welcome. As a nurse of 40+ years, I'm so comforted knowing I can take off my nurse's hat and just concentrate on being my dad's daughter.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.785) out of 10 for Larks Leas Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.935 for Larks Leas Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (160 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 168 Ratings = 4.935
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larks Leas Rest Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
