Mom spent 5 months in Hearons. Always friendly, treated well and fully informed by all.
Everything from the initial welcome, the care given, the welcome to family and friends visiting and to discisions around medical needs was all excellent.
In a short space of time we all felt like family!

Nothing ever too much trouble, questions always answered and dignity always given.

My sister has recently moved into Herons. We have all been made to feel welcome. I have been listened to trying to ensure her needs are fully met. Communication within the home is excellent, the whole team are all friendly and happy and nothing is too much trouble.
My sister can be fussy re food but certainly seems to be enjoying everything, even trying new things.
Staff have taken time to get to know her and shown real interest in her life, likes and dislikes. They treat her with dignity and respect at all times.
I do not live locally and the worries I had when she was at home supported with carers has been like a weight lifted from my shoulders.

Most importantly of all she seems happy, content and very well cared for.

Overall Experience
My mother stayed at Larks Leas for just over a year, unfortunately she passed away a few weeks ago. The staff and management team are outstanding. Staff are caring and engage with all residents at all levels. The home is inviting, "homely" and safe with a nice big garden and terraces that residents can access at all times. Nice rooms with en-suite. Local surgery provides doctor / nurse and medical needs if required.

The biggest asset this home has, is the amazing people that are the care and support staff, they make this home a friendly, caring and safe place for people to live.

Review of The Old Vicarage from Amanda B (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum was here for a few weeks before she sadly passed away. The staff were all very kind and caring towards her during her time here, and excellent nursing care and support to family during her last few days made a difficult time easier for us all. Being able to stay in her room here, instead of a hospital ward, was a blessing.
My Dad is still living here and is being well cared for and helped to enjoy activities that he hadn't been able to do at home for some time.

This home has a happy, homely feel. Staff are cheerful, helpful, caring and kind and the people living here seem content, happy and well looked after.

It is the people that matter. I found all the staff at Larks Leas to be excellent: bright and friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and considerate. I experienced kindnesses that went beyond my expectations. It did not take long for me to realise that Larks Leas has a positive ambiance. It is a happy place, which must be a reflection of the excellent management team and all the good people who work there. As a result, I found all the residents I met to be happy too.
Food is so important for the residents. It was excellent. Prepared by staff who are as proficient as the others in the care team. The building may not be as grand as some homes, but the staff and the level of care provided soon made me realise that my mother really could not have found a better place.

I also found that Larks Leas has a straight-forward but flexible approach to contractual matters. I never felt that I was being contractually entwined. The on-site person responsible for the accounting was also very efficient.

The care that my mum recieved was amazing. She (and us) were treated with the utmost kindness and respect. The care mum had for all of her stay was exceptional - its clear that the staff really care about the residents. Mum's passing was very calm and peaceful and our family received support, privacy and understanding throughout I can't give enough praise to the staff at The Old Vicarage.

Review of Claremont Lodge Care Home with Nursing from David V (Husband of Resident) published on 10 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My wife has just been in residence for a few days. I am very impressed with the care she is receiving and their ability to cope with her resistance due to her condition (advanced Alzheimer's). Their anticipation of what is going to be required is testament to good training there is a good atmosphere and everyone is very helpful. There is a feeling of care which was lacking in her previous care home.

Excellent quality of care provided during all stages of mums stay, meeting all her care needs. All staff very attentive and caring and had a very positive relationship with mum who said that the staff were lovely and she was made very comfortable. I was very happy knowing mum was in good hands and clearly being cared for to a high standard. Quality of food was excellent. Room was very comfortable. Staff were also excellent with myself clearly explaining things and also very kind and supportive towards me.

Review of Claremont Lodge Care Home with Nursing from Barry S (Son of Resident) published on 24 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I cannot speak highly enough of Claremont Lodge. In January 2025, Mum had a fall and broke her hip. After four weeks in hospital, her Parkinson's had progressed and her mobility was severely reduced. As a family, we had to accept that Dad could no longer safely care for her at home, so we began looking for alternatives. Everyone we spoke to who knew Claremont Lodge praised it - and now we understand why. Every member of staff has shown Mum exceptional care, compassion and respect. They are consistently understanding, empathetic and always protect her dignity. The office team, nurses, catering staff, cleaners, gardeners, activity coordinators and carers are warm and welcoming to Mum and to all of us when we visit. We've all heard horror stories about care homes, but our experience of Claremont Lodge has been entirely positive.

Review of Claremont Lodge Care Home with Nursing from Ritchie S (Husband of Resident) published on 18 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife has been a resident in Claremont Lodge since March 2025. From the morning she arrived the care and attention given has been five star or above. From Kim the manager through the nursing staff, the carers, the catering and ancillary staff, I can honestly say that everything has been faultless. I don't know how they recruit or select their staff but you really get the impression that everyone wants to do their very best for the residents. Clearly, I would prefer to have my wife well and at home but since that is not possible I would not wish her to be anywhere else but in Claremont Lodge.

I ought to say that, after a heart issue last year I spent a week at Claremont and observed the place from the inside, as it were. It was just the same for me so I have no hesitation in recommending Claremont Lodge. Before my wife entered the place and since then, I have had many comments from friends and members of the public and every one of these comments has been positive.

Review of Forest Hill House Nursing Home from David B (Mother of Resident) published on 18 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been at Forest Hill House now since June 2025. She had previously been a resident at Four previous care homes in the locality. She had not settled at any of them.
The reason we believe Forest Hill is her now Forever home, is largely down to all the staff members.
The home itself is great offering good facilities and food as in fairness were the other homes.
The staff here are freindly and largely long term staff not agency.
This has allowed for mum to get to know them and them her and understand her needs.
The management, nursing staff, cleaners, manitenance staff, kitchen staff all play apart and offer mum freindship, care and give the time to chat with mum.
As a family we cannot fault the care given to mum at this home. Please feel free to contact me for confirmation of these words.

Review of Claremont Lodge Care Home with Nursing from Ruth H (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My parents were both cared for at Claremont Lodge. I have nothing but praise and thanks to the whole team who looked after them so well. My mother was there for a relatively short time before she died in 2019. My father who suffered from MS was a resident for 17 years. As his condition worsened over time the manager went to enormous lengths to make sure that he had the necessary equipment to help him to keep his independence, and latterly to ensure the best possible comfort when he was bedridden.

The carers were so good to him. Patient, understanding, humorous, and so diligent with his physical care. As a family we can't thank them enough for all they did right up to his death.

My brother spent six weeks at Claremont for palliative care. His room was peaceful and comfortable, and the care he received from every member of staff was exceptional. Their kindness and empathy extended not only to him but also to our whole family. We are deeply grateful for the compassion and support shown during such a difficult time

I am extremely pleased with the way my mother of 92 is being looked after. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful to her. They have a friendly chat to her as well. My mother is difficult to deal with, but Forest Hill House have done excellently with her, and she has settled well. She wants to stay at the nursing home and likes cleaners, care staff, management and activities.

Aspley House is amazing. My family cannot thank the home enough for looking after my mum for over 6 years. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with a smile and a hello from one of the many staff who, in many cases, have been working at the home the whole time. The home always smells and looks clean and homely. It is warm and comforting. The staff, every one of them, always took time with mum, and treated her with enormous dignity and affection. They were so kind and thoughtful. My family can't thank and praise the home for making mum's final years as comfortable as possible. Thank you, thank you.
