Herons Park Nursing Home & Dementia Unit is an established home with a good local reputation situated in a parkland setting.

The main home, which has been extensively refurbished and upgraded, has a new build separate dementia unit that was previously awarded Gold accreditation by the DSDC (Dementia Services Development Centre).

My father was a resident from Dec 2019 until his death in July 2025. During that time the care has been excellent. The carers and nursing staff all demonstrate excellent care and respect for each and every resident. The "behind the scenes" staff (office, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen) all have
a good relationship with residents and are there with a smile and a friendly word or two and sometimes assisting with activities/entertainment. The activities team work hard at providing both general entertainment and personalised activities thus enriching the lives of residents. Families are made to feel welcome and are kept up to date with their relatives needs and care. During the last two months of my father's life the care was outstanding not only for him but for us as a family. We always knew my father was well cared for but it made us realise he was also very much loved and it felt as if we were all part of the Herons Park family.

All the staff were extremely kind, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them; they were always very attentive.
Dad loved the staff at the home, who became like members of his family to him.
Communication from the home was also excellent; they always informed me of any changes that
needed to be made in Dad's care.
Dad had daily visits from his family, and we were always made very welcome. I would definitely recommend this care home.

My mother moved to Herons Park in February 2019, where she has received excellent care from all the staff for 5 years and 3 months. Residents are also kept well entertained with lots of different activities. If, in future, I need it, I hope this is the home I would go to.

I was at the Herons Park Nursing Home for 2 weeks for respite care following a major kidney operation. Everyone was very kind, considerate and respectful during my stay and I was very well cared for in every sense. It made a huge difference to my recovery.

The care my father received at Herons was excellent. Dad was at Herons for nearly three years and was treated with care, kindness and understanding throughout. He found his declining abilities difficult to accept and this caused anxiety and frustration in him at times. Time was spent talking and listening
to Dad and he was taken out on visits and shopping trips when he was able to do so. Staff really supported him in using the phone to call us and keep in touch. Friends and family were welcome to visit at any time and we received a cheerful welcome. There was always something going on, the staff got involved in things and created a genuinely happy atmosphere. The most positive thing was the way all the staff who work there really do care. Dad's end of life was care was superb. He was treated with dignity and died peacefully. We were also shown great kindness at this difficult time. Many thanks to everyone at Herons.

The care given to the resident is very good. The staff treat them with patience and dignity. They provide activities in which residents can participate (or not) as they wish. Family and friends of residents are encouraged to talk with the staff and any queries are dealt with sympathetically and appropriately.
Herons Park is a very friendly place in which all can feel at 'home'.

When my sisters initially viewed your care home, they knew immediately it was the right place for our father. The caring, loving atmosphere was very apparent. Your staff took great care of my

Following the death of my Mother, I would like to record my thanks and the gratitude of our family for the care that she received during the two-and-a-half years she was a resident at Herons Park.
The standard of care provided has been of a high quality throughout her stay and, despite her deteriorating
physical condition which made this a very difficult final period of her life, she was as happy as possible. She was certainly comfortable and felt secure.
The high levels of cleanliness, the facilities available, and the quality of the food she received were important to us. Of even greater importance has been the quality of care provided by the team of staff. This has been excellent. Mum was treated with respect which enabled her to retain some dignity as her body failed her. Her care felt personal; it was attentive and thoughtful and such kindness from staff who are busy and are carrying out such a challenging role is what makes them special.

My mother spent only a few weeks here following her discharge from the Hospice and the care was exemplary. At such a difficult time, the staff were amazing and so kind and supportive to all the family but especially my dad. Her death, whilst tragic was handled delicately and with all the sensitivity
you would need and again this is tantamount to the kindness and quality of all the staff working there. It's difficult when choosing a care home, for someone like myself who has a lot of experience of them in my job role (GP), I know a lot of places are struggling as a result of poor funding and the morale and ultimately, care, suffers as a result but from the moment my father I visited we knew this wasn't an issue here. I am incredibly grateful to the staff for all their hard work, care and support in giving my mother a dignified and respectful death. Thank you.

I recently spent two weeks for respite care at this wonderful care home and have to say what a pleasant experience it was. The care that I received was superb. The staff are all so helpful and really nice. I was treated with great respect and kindness throughout my stay. The food is really good, homemade
and served beautifully. I cannot find fault in this care home and would highly recommend it.

Me father was transferred here from hospital for end of life care which was never going to be easy, but the wonderful staff here made his last few weeks the best they could be. Every time we visited here we were warmly welcomed, everyone had a smile and whenever we were here someone popped in at least
once an hour to check all was well with him.
Our experience of Herons Park could not have been better, the staff were 100% amazing, even down to the trainee students on placement. The environment was spotlessly clean, food was nice. Well done Herons Park Nursing Home.

My nan had been at the nursing home for nearly five years, in that time she moved from the nursing unit to the dementia unit, of which were both excellent. For me personally, my nan being as when she went in was a big thing for her. The staff have been amazing, from kitchen staff to cleaners, to nurses
and maintenance staff! I highly recommend this nursing home!

Herons Park Nursing Home & Dementia Unit was somewhere my mum went for respite. From entering the home the staff were welcoming, friendly and the atmosphere lovely. The care my mum received was exemplary and nothing was too much trouble for staff in all departments.

Sadly, my mother passed away while there but the dignity and respect and loving care shown to my mum and ourselves as family was amazing in her final days, cannot fault the dedication and compassion all staff have shown.

My father only had a two-week stay at Herons Park after we discovered his cancer had spread and he was in need of end-of-life care. From the first moment I visited Herons Park, I was struck with how genuine, kind, caring and helpful all the staff were and what a lovely home it was. Even though this
was an extremely sad time in my life, I enjoyed coming to spend time with dad as I knew he was in safe, caring hands with a lovely family who also welcomed me visiting at all times of the day and night. I know dad enjoyed his final days at Herons Park, laughing and chatting with the staff for whom nothing was too much trouble when it came to keeping him comfortable and pain-free. Sadly my father has now passed away, but I will always be eternally grateful to the fabulous staff who treated my father and all the family with such kindness, sensitivity and dignity.

My mom had recently received dementia and end of life care at Herons Park Nursing home. All the staff were professional, compassionate, respectful and just completely amazing in the care they had shown my mom and my family while visiting. Nothing was too much trouble. We were allowed to come and go
any time we liked and my mom could not have received any better care. She was kept spotlessly clean and comfortable and you could clearly see all protocols were put in place to keep her feeling safe and at the end as comfortable as possible. End of life care was explained to us as each step was taken to keep mom out of pain and comfortable. Inside the home is spotless and Mom's room was a very good size and we could take in things from home to make it feel comfortable and familiar. Herons Park was a happy vibrant place to visit and it has made what was such a very difficult time more bearable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart you are all angels.
