Apsley House Care Home

I found the home looked very clean and smelt fresh. The staff were very friendly and showed kindness. I was kept informed, as to when my father was not too well. He enjoyed the food choices and the help given to him, with his meals. There were various activities he joined in, he especially liked the singing. I was made to feel welcome, each time I visited. I can't thank the staff enough for the care and support they gave him.

Aspley House is amazing. My family cannot thank the home enough for looking after my mum for over 6 years. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with a smile and a hello from one of the many staff who, in many cases, have been working at the home the whole time. The home always smells and looks clean and homely. It is warm and comforting. The staff, every one of them, always took time with mum, and treated her with enormous dignity and affection. They were so kind and thoughtful. My family can't thank and praise the home for making mum's final years as comfortable as possible. Thank you, thank you.

My father-in-law moved to this care home just over a year ago. It is unlike any I have visited, all the staff are happy to be there, and therefore this rubs off on the care they give. I would go as far to say it's one in a million and its a true credit to the manager Denise and her 39 staff. Sadly, my father in law has now just passed but even that was dealt with in the most dignified way. This home deserves 5 stars and will be almost impossible to be beaten.

An excellent care home, where every member of staff makes you feel important and nothing is too much trouble. My dad went to the home following several periods in hospital and was not at all well. Within a very short time, he had a new lease of life and was back to joining in the variety of activities on offer daily. The food is of a very high standard with excellent choices. They made my dad's final year one to remember. Thank you.

I suffered a stroke on 23rd December 2024 and admitted to hospital. I was then transferred to Apsley House on 30th January 2025. I have been under their care until I was discharged on 29th December 2025. During my stay at Apsley House, my needs were looked after by excellent staff and always a friendly atmosphere. In addition to my medical needs the home arranged regular entertainment and the residents were encouraged to participate. The non-medical staff provided enjoyable food and my laundry was well looked after. I would also like to praise the management, office and maintenance staff.

My mother came here after a 3 week stay in hospital and was treated with respect and care during her 3 week stay at Apsley House. The staff were very attentive and made her as comfortable as possible. The manager was very approachable and helpful. The room was kept clean, and the food was ok, although my mum didn't eat much in the end. Would recommend Apsley House.

Apsley House Care Home has been very good for John. When he left hospital he was in a very poor state, having not been out of bed and dressed for two or three weeks, not eating very much as food was placed on a table in front of him, left there for a while when he was asleep and then taken away. He lost weight. Apsley House provided the care he was so in need of, he ate all the food they could give him and more - and enjoyed it. He enjoyed being dressed and looking smart. He took part in some of the activities, especially quizzes and musical events. He had a wonderful 90th birthday there.

My dad was helped to learn to feed himself again, with thoughtful and simple adaptations. He enjoys the delicious meals, which offer quality and range. He is now well nourished again. The nursing staff have kept us well informed and followed up on any medical concerns we have had. Interesting daily planned activities have encouraged him to take part and interact with enjoyment. The thoughtfulness of the staff made my dad and our family feel special on his birthday. Thanks to the hard work and skills of the staff, we are now celebrating that my dad is well enough to return home.

Every time we visited our friend, over the year+ that she was an Apsley House resident, we found her happy, well cared for and full of praise of the staff. Her room was clean and as tidy as she would allow. When we visited the staff welcomed us and the Manager was especially helpful on the occasions we met her. The house was always calm and had a pleasant atmosphere.

You hear some horror stories about some care homes not this one, in my opinion its exceptional thank you all

All the staff from the care assistants, chef, nursing staff and management showed a fabulous level of care and attention for my father and always treated him as an individual. They always showed him and my family kindness at what was a difficult time for us. The facilities were generally well kept but a little run down in places. His room was upstairs and quite small in comparison to others and definitely felt like a temporary space rather than one you would want to have on a more permanent basis.

My mother has been a resident at Apsley House for over 5 years now. While it was a struggle to adapt from lone living to community living, the change in her was amazing. She is well looked after, she is reminded to take her medication and is supported with lots of available activities to nurture her personal living. You could not ask for better support for a parent than Apsley House. The staff are supportive and caring.

We received excellent care for our father. He was very happy in Apsley House for the time he stayed there. The staff were very helpful and were always kind caring and respectful. The home was always fresh smelling and clean.

The manager and all the staff we have encountered have also been really supportive of our needs during this very emotional and difficult time.

Since mum's admission to Apsley House she has been treated with respect and compassion by all the staff at the care home. We as her family have felt included in her care at all times. There is definitely a holistic approach to care for both resident and family. We know our mum is very well cared for. Thank you to all staff at Apsley House.
