When my great uncle could no longer care for himself, he was lucky enough to find residence at Mile Oak. The management and carers were all so helpful and compassionate to my uncle's needs and were great in their correspondence with me. I would highly recommend Mile Oak based on our experience with
them.

My mother spent 9 months here. Initially, she took advantage of the activities available and enjoyed the comforts of her garden view room. Her individual needs were always met and as they increased so did the attention she received.

In her room, she was visited regularly and her dietary preferences

met. She was charmed, humoured and engaged. We always felt that special attention was paid to how she liked to be dressed and made up.

We will be forever grateful for the patience and understanding, welcome and love she received from all the staff.

As visitors, we were always welcomed, offered refreshments and kept informed about concerns and changes in circumstances.

Unfortunately mum was only with the care home for three months before passing away due to an unexpected illness.

We wish that she had agreed to move there a lot sooner than she did, as the care that she received at the home was exemplary. She did have a major eating difficulty but with the care

from the staff, all who treated her with dignity, she was even able to boast that she was putting on weight.
We thoroughly recommend this home for the care and affection that mum was given.

I find the home caring, nurturing and clean. When I visit my friend she is well cared for and her room is clean. The meals look appetising and nutritious. Every resident seems known to the staff. Staff are chatty, helpful and caring. I like it so much that I would be happy to live there.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.404) out of 10 for Mile Oak Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.629 for Mile Oak Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.629
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mile Oak Rest Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

I am proud to serve as the Manager of Mile Oak Rest Home, a role I stepped into after being promoted from Deputy Manager in 2025. Before joining Mile Oak, I worked with Care South for over 4.5 years, gaining extensive experience across various positions, including Carer, Senior Carer, Care Team Leader, and Head of Care. My background spans both luxury care settings and dementia care homes, providing me with a well-rounded perspective on senior living and healthcare.

In my professional development, I have completed a Level 3 Diploma in Lead Adult Care and am currently pursuing a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management, further strengthening my ability to provide exceptional care and guidance.
My journey into the care sector began in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, following a 15-year career in management within a different industry. However, my earliest memories of care stem from my childhood, where both my Nan and Mum worked in the industry. After school, I would often visit my mum’s care home, helping out and completing my homework alongside the residents—experiences that shaped my deep appreciation for care.

At Mile Oak Rest Home, creating a loving, supportive environment for our residents is at the heart of everything we do. Supported by a dedicated team, I cherish the time spent within the home, fostering meaningful relationships with our residents and their loved ones. No two days are the same, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive difference every day.
