Mum was in Elizabeth House for 6 years.
She had severe Dementia.
Mum went in from hospital and was violent and disruptive.
The staff have always been supportive of her and me and provided her with a home and care second to none.
We will always be grateful.

I find that the new manager has made improvements to the home, mainly in the dining area which relates to the chairs. The care team leader who has worked there for some year's, always stands out. With regards to the carer's, these seem to change and the use of agencies is often the case. I feel it is
important to support maintaining staff. One thing I feel is also important is that a person's name should be used, there are times when the term "love" is used. More attention has been given to the grounds rather than the rooms, also, laundry is a problem. I do my mum's yet sadly I find other people's clothing in her room with other people's names or room numbers. I feel the manager always has time to talk and so does your care team leader but when asking a carer a question, I don't know.
Reply from Tarina Price, Home Manager at Elizabeth HouseThank you for your feedback and i would like to provide the following response.
Use of Agency - At Elizabeth House we work hard with recruitment to establish a good solid team. Despite all efforts form time to time we do require added support through agency. Care South work with a designated agency who provide a high quality of support by providing, where possible, regular staff to maintain continuity of care to our residents.
Terms of Endearment - Staff do approach residents using their preferred name and will sometimes go onto using terms of endearment to those residents who respond in kind.
Laundry - The home has developed a strong, committed Laundry team, who work together to deliver a good service to our residents. The home manager is committed in addressing, and works towards resolving any concerns persons may have.
Garden - At Elizabeth House we welcome and embrace relatives who like to get involved and therefore support the home. The home has three relatives who have taken a keen interest in our gardens. The home has its own contractor who carry out the bulk of the work to keep the gardens looking colourful and attractive for all residents.

It is a very good home. My one concern is they are fed so much food and if they are not very hungry, it is almost forced upon them. I feel too much food is offered and cost could be reduced very much in this area.
Too much food is wasted!
If they walk out the dining room, please leave them and not
force them back!

As soon as you are let in, always with a cheery greeting, it soon becomes obvious that everything is in order - this being security, safety, personal care and stimulation.

The thing that hit me on my first visit was the atmosphere. Nearly everybody was walking around with smiles on their faces.

The staff who organise the entertainment and games really put their heart and soul into it. I know my wife is in caring, safe hands.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.702)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.702) out of 10 for Elizabeth House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.877 for Elizabeth House is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 155 Ratings = 4.877
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elizabeth House is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello, I’m Donna, and I am very happy to introduce myself as the Manager of Elizabeth House.
I began my first care role over 20 years ago and have been part of Care South for nearly four years, previously working at one of our sister homes. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to take on a variety of roles, each one helping me grow and deepen my understanding of what truly matters in care. It has been an honour to be part of people’s lives and to be trusted in providing personal, meaningful care and support to residents and their families.

I have a real passion for people and for promoting dignity and respect in everything we do. I take pride in leading a team that encourages independence, ability and well-being.

I have a particular interest in dementia care, end-of-life care and supporting residents with complex needs. I was involved in the implementation and pilot of Namaste, a new approach to supporting those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia at Care South.

It was a truly positive experience, and I am very excited to bring this to Elizabeth House.

Alongside progressing in my career, I have also raised my two children, who are now teenagers, and they continue to inspire me every day.
