Faithfull House is an elegant Grade II Regency building which has been subtly adapted into a stunning residential home. It is situated on Suffolk Square, with shops and amenities on its doorstep with Cheltenham town centre in easy reach.

Faithfull House can offer people a little day to day support amidst their full and independent lives, right the way through to full residential care (with specialist knowledge of dementia and end of life care).

The beautifully proportioned dining room and lounges are at the heart of the home. The two smaller lounges, library and conservatory mean there is always a quiet place to be found. The accessible private garden are full of interest throughout the year and includes a summerhouse and seating areas.

All the bedrooms are en suite and there are also five apartments as well as rooms for respite care.

The care team includes dementia specialists, a physiotherapist and a qualified nurse (who works closely with the GP surgeries and district nurses).

The Bluebell Suite offers extra care to those with a higher level of needs, such as those living with dementia. This self-contained suite has its own lounge, dining rooms, garden room and accommodation with beautiful views over Suffolk Square. This calm and tranquil setting offers familiarity and continuity which gives extra reassurance and comfort to its residents.

The catering team provide fresh, nutritious home cooked food and are skilled at adapting the menu for different dietary requirements and those with swallowing difficulties.

The activities team work both individually and in groups to offer varied, stimulating and enriching activities including visiting musicians and entertainers, arts & crafts, gardening, games, gentle exercise and trips out.

Throughout Dad's brief and unexpected stay of 3 days, care was given with quiet respect, dignity and attention to detail for our whole family during a very challenging and emotional goodbye; end-of-life care was mindful and compassionate throughout. All the staff who supported us from clinical leads
to cleaners, catering, carers and maintenance were all very clearly part of a longstanding team who cared about what they did and how they delivered it. They helped us all navigate a journey of passage and continued to do so even after Dad's passing. All at very short notice in a manner which enriched us all, in spite of our utter loss of a beloved father.

It is daunting and a source of great anxiety when a parent needs to transition to full residential care. It is a step into the unknown, consequently, it is very reassuring to know that you have made the right decision. From the onset, the staff at Faithfull House have treated my parent with sincere
care and respect. They are professional, helpful and communicative. The only reason I haven't ticked 'excellent' for the categories below is that there are always little things to improve. But the really important stuff - quality of care and respect - is certainly excellent. I would (and do) recommend Faithful House.

My Nan has had a turbulent 12 months and in Faithfull House she has found a home. The building is large, with a number of communal areas in which to socialise or to read. Nan's room is spacious and she is allowed to bring whatever she would like into the room to make it hers.
The busy carers take their
time whenever they are with Nan and when my family and I visit we are always offered refreshments. We really do enjoy visiting and find relief in seeing Nan so well looked after by all the staff.
Nan enjoys the activities programme and also benefits from excursions out of Faithfull House. She cannot wait for the warmer weather to spend time in the large garden.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home and its caring staff.

I really can't fault the care my mum receives at Faithfull House. The staff are exceptional in both the care that they give and importantly communication. I'm also impressed with the number of activities that are available, which play such an important part in stimulating residents.

Faithfull House is a lovely building in a lovely regency square in Cheltenham. The rooms, some of which have views over the square are nicely appointed and well maintained. The best thing about Faithful House though is the staff who are kind, caring, friendly and understanding and most importantly patient!
Thank you.

Faithfull House has provided the family with excellent support in settling mum into residential care. From our initial enquiries and throughout the transition, the staff have gone over and above to make the move as smooth as possible by using a fully person-centred approach. The staff have been so kind
to both mum and us. They have demonstrated they understand the difficult emotional decisions that have needed to be made.

My father had a recent respite stay at Faithfull House following a fall at home. The whole transition went really well. He massively benefitted from the in-house physiotherapist and the rehab facilities. Both my father and I would not hesitate to use Faithfull House in the future.

Whenever I visit Faithfull House Care Home, the staff are always very welcoming. My cousin has always appeared well cared for and tells me, themselves, that the staff are very polite and caring. She's been a resident for over a year and is very happy at Faithful House. Her room, although not overly
large, is very homely and well taken care of. The home, itself, has always been clean and tidy, the garden is especially pretty and a lovely place to spend time in. My cousin tells me the meals are always tasty and the variety is good. I have not witnessed activities as such, due to the timing of my visits, but my cousin very much enjoys the chair exercise sessions and appreciates the religious services given in the home by the local church. Any questions I have had for staff have always been responded to promptly. I am very glad that my cousin has found such a safe and caring place to live.

The help and support we have received from the team at Faithfull House have been superb. The assessment of my mum was dignified and sensitive, considering she isn't aware of her Alzheimer's Disease diagnosis. Every effort was made to keep Mum within their care after the respite care ended. Mum has settled
amazingly and is extremely fond of her carers. Faithful House doesn't;t feel like a typical care home - its energy is beautiful.

When I get the chance to visit my dear friend, I’m always taken aback by the level the professionalism, care, and friendliness of the staff. They do everything possible to make Faithful House his home from home. It’s warming to see the other residents receiving the same level of care, compassion and
understanding to make them comfortable, relaxed, and involved as possible. My friend has always been ‘grumpy’ and demanding. However, his wife ‘no longer with us’ said the staff manage him better than she did.

Considering the pressure the healthcare industry is under the staff at Faithful house do a fantastic job. I have nothing but admiration for the way they look after the residents, keeping them safe and secure.

My only experience has been visiting the home since my friend moved in and also taking him out on visits. My wife is very well looked after here and seems happier and more communicative than before she moved in about 12 months ago. There are plenty of things to do and many other residents to interact with which suits her just fine.
I am happy that as someone with Alzheimer's she is in exactly the right

My family and I were most impressed with the level of care that my father received at Faithfull House. All of the staff were very friendly and professional, and any questions that we had were dealt with promptly. I am very grateful for the way that my father was looked after in his final days and the
support that I was given by very caring and dedicated members of staff.

Our parents were admitted for respite care during the first Covid-19 lockdown. It was a very stressful time, particularly as my sister and I live 100 miles away. From our first interactions, we were hugely impressed by the professionalism and care shown to us all and reassured that our parents would
be in safe and loving hands. Although we have only met a handful of staff due to the current restrictions, they are always there for us on the end of the phone or email and we have been able to establish a real sense of connection with them. Having spent the last few months in the care of the Faithfull House family, they have now decided to make it their permanent home. They seem to have found the perfect balance of a place (room with kitchenette and bathroom) of their own, with the added benefits of full care including regular attention from the in-house physio and hairdresser and daily social interaction with all the wonderful staff. We are so thankful to have found such a special home.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.629)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.629) out of 10 for Faithfull House Residential Care is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.629 for Faithfull House Residential Care is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.629
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Faithfull House Residential Care is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care home manager Joined: 2017

Dale has been home manager at Faithfull House since June 2017 he has worked for over 20 years with Lilian Faithfull Care.

He started his career with the charity whilst working part-time as a domestic when he was at college. Since then he has worked his way in a wide variety of roles in all of our homes, spending 3 years as assistant manager, deputy manager and home manager before coming to lead Faithfull House. This experience has meant he has an in-depth knowledge of all the aspects of life in our homes, understanding every detail.

Dale thrives in his role as home manager; “It’s different every day, I am a real people person so this job is so rewarding”. His ‘open door approach’ means he is always available for residents, staff and their families. The support given to families can often be overlooked but it is an important part of Dale’s role; “We like to be there for families whenever they need us, whether for advice and guidance or to be there to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on.” Another aspect of the role that he loves is the opportunity to help staff develop “it is so rewarding helping people progress in their careers.”
