The Review Score of 7.1 (maximum of 10) for Critchill Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Critchill Court in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 2.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 2 years. (A 2 year period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 12 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.674 for Critchill Court is calculated as follows: ( (95 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.674
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 2.45 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Critchill Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4 then divided by 2 = 2.000
Target of 10 positive Reviews (50 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 10 Target = 0.900 , then divided by 2 = 0.450
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother went to Critchill Court for a one week respite stay. I felt as though she became one of the 'family' whilst there, and it was confidence instilling that the staff knew who she was and about her when I called to see how she was, even though she wasn't permanent. The other residents seemed settled and contented and the staff seemed to have time for everyone and everything. We were made to feel welcome whilst visiting at dinner time, even with a baby in tow, and the staff were open to talking and didn't feel rushed. The difference in my mother over the course of her stay is immense; she seemed frail and lost when she arrived and left as the person she was several years ago...Well almost! Thank you to all of the staff and residents for making mum smile!

When my dad needed further care I was given two homes that were thought to be suitable for my dad's needs, one was literally round the corner to my house and one was about 15 minutes away, so naturally my instinct was to use the nearer home, until I went and visited Critchill Court, upon arrival and after the tour I fell in love with the place, the biggest selling point for me was (and still is) the staff!
I cannot emphasise enough how well the staff look after the residents, they are amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble for them at all!! they really get to know the person so fast and work so very very hard, each and every one of them.
The Manager and the supervisors, along with the rest of the team are exceptional, they take time for even the "little things" to make the residents life that little better.
There is always something going on, and its very very clean.
I cannot thank them enough for what they have done and continue to do for my dad. Thank you very much!!!

My Dad, as always, seemed very relaxed and happy when I visited. I take my dog to visit the home often and he is welcomed and spoilt by residents and staff! Dad was clean, tidy, which is how I always find him. We visited his room for a cardigan and the room was neat and tidy. We sat for a while in the garden and was joined by his friend. This friendship is encouraged and helps Dad. I left before lunch, which he looks forward to. All in all a positive visit.

My mother has just moved in on a placement after being in rest bite for 6 weeks. The manager and staff couldn't do enough for my mother. Getting tests done to make sure she received the best possible care. We are very grateful as a family and now know that she is safe and well cared for.

We found Critchill Court to meet and indeed exceed our expectations. My father was treated with care and respect for the whole of his respite stay.

Fantastic support for both my Mum & Dad at extremely short notice.
They were a great help and understood the needs of my Dad whilst my Mum was in the hospital and then took my Mum for a few days respite before they were ready to return home.

Staff are friendly and always help where needed. Comfortable, homely surroundings with good food and welcome visitors at all times. Would like to see more trips out for the residents, although the activities within the home are very good.

It's always a pleasure to visit Crrtichill, I nearly always leave with a smile on my face as there is such a lovely atmosphere of charming and caring humour whatever the challenges are for the staff that day.
My mother, though reluctant to move into residential care, has become very attached to the staff at Critchill which proves that they have won her over with their conscientious care of her. She has no criticism of her time at Critchill Court.

My mum became a resident at Critchill Court in January of this year. The staff were fantastic, welcoming us as a family and helping mum to adjust quickly to her new surroundings. The whole team worked well together, always with a smile and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them. I felt very reassured knowing that mum was happy and more importantly that she was safe.
The home benefits from being on one level, with adequate sized bedrooms, a lovely dining area with excellent food and a large lounge area used by the majority of residents plus a smaller lounge area which is brilliant when friends and family visit. There is also a well kept garden area for those that enjoy a sunny day.
If you want your family member to enjoy a friendly atmosphere, to be well cared for and to be happy, look no further.

They were so welcoming to my grandmother when she arrived, and are looking after her so well. She has settled in quickly because of their fantastic care and kindness. The staff all know her and answer all our questions - they are unfailingly cheerful and pleasant and nothing is too much bother. We are so glad she is happy and safe.

I am very happy with the care and love given to my mother, who suffers from dementia, by the staff at Critchill Court. They are patient, loving and always seem to be smiling and willing to help. The facilities are good and the garden is wonderful. I would recommend this home to anyone who has to make the difficult decision of placing a parent in residential care.
I live abroad, but the staff are always happy to get in touch about the slightest question regarding my mother which gives me great peace of mind.
