My Dad, as always, seemed very relaxed and happy when I visited. I take my dog to visit the home often and he is welcomed and spoilt by residents and staff! Dad was clean, tidy, which is how I always find him. We visited his room for a cardigan and the room was neat and tidy. We sat for a while in the
garden and was joined by his friend. This friendship is encouraged and helps Dad. I left before lunch, which he looks forward to. All in all a positive visit.

Staff are friendly and always help where needed. Comfortable, homely surroundings with good food and welcome visitors at all times. Would like to see more trips out for the residents, although the activities within the home are very good.

Fantastic support for both my Mum & Dad at extremely short notice.

They were a great help and understood the needs of my Dad whilst my Mum was in the hospital and then took my Mum for a few days respite before they were ready to return home.

It's always a pleasure to visit Crrtichill, I nearly always leave with a smile on my face as there is such a lovely atmosphere of charming and caring humour whatever the challenges are for the staff that day.
My mother, though reluctant to move into residential care, has become very attached to the
staff at Critchill which proves that they have won her over with their conscientious care of her. She has no criticism of her time at Critchill Court.

My mum became a resident at Critchill Court in January of this year. The staff were fantastic, welcoming us as a family and helping mum to adjust quickly to her new surroundings. The whole team worked well together, always with a smile and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them. I felt very
reassured knowing that mum was happy and more importantly that she was safe.

The home benefits from being on one level, with adequate sized bedrooms, a lovely dining area with excellent food and a large lounge area used by the majority of residents plus a smaller lounge area which is brilliant when friends and family visit. There is also a well kept garden area for those that enjoy a sunny day.

If you want your family member to enjoy a friendly atmosphere, to be well cared for and to be happy, look no further.

They were so welcoming to my grandmother when she arrived, and are looking after her so well. She has settled in quickly because of their fantastic care and kindness. The staff all know her and answer all our questions - they are unfailingly cheerful and pleasant and nothing is too much bother. We are
so glad she is happy and safe.

I am very happy with the care and love given to my mother, who suffers from dementia, by the staff at Critchill Court. They are patient, loving and always seem to be smiling and willing to help. The facilities are good and the garden is wonderful. I would recommend this home to anyone who has to make
the difficult decision of placing a parent in residential care.
I live abroad, but the staff are always happy to get in touch about the slightest question regarding my mother which gives me great peace of mind.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.713)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.713) out of 10 for Critchill Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.835 for Critchill Court is calculated as follows: ( (85 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Poors x 2) + (24 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 164 Ratings = 3.835
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.878 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Critchill Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.2 = 0.978
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2017

I joined Critchill Court in 2017 as a night care assistant and progressed to become the Registered Manager in 2021. Over the years, I’ve taken on a variety of roles within the home and still enjoy getting hands-on—whether it's helping move furniture, covering the floor, or painting benches in the garden.

I'm deeply passionate about dementia care and strongly believe in adapting our environment to better meet the needs of our residents. I'm currently working towards my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, as continuous learning and development are very important to me. I actively encourage my team to pursue growth opportunities and expand their skills.
