I just wanted to say thank you for looking after my mum for respite last week. She felt very safe and cared for and thought all of the staff were kind, thoughtful and good fun. Her visitors told me how lovely everyone was and my experience was of a very welcoming and friendly group who couldn’t do enough
for my mum and were also very concerned to make me feel looked after too.
Please thank everyone very much from both of us - it was a really positive experience and we will both be happy to repeat it in the future.

My mum has been a resident at Critchill Court Care Home for many years. The staff are very caring and approachable and happy to answer any queries. Mum says she feels safe there and likes the staff who have a lovely rapport with her. The activities offered are varied and run by a very kind, enthusiastic
leader. Mum enjoys walking or sitting in the enclosed garden in summer. The dining area and shared spaces, e.g. activity room and lounges, are light, bright and inviting. I would recommend Critchill Court.

Not during easy times (Covid), this care home looked after my Mum wonderfully.
All staff (and sadly due to external issues, there were many!) cared for and looked after a mother quickly degenerating with dementia.
The place is clean, secure and friendly. All staff, without exception, cared. Three
in particular.
Thoroughly recommendable.
(Just to make the review appear more genuine, and not all perfect! The gardens could be given slightly more attention!!)

My cousin's care home was closing on the 14th of October, we had three weeks to find a new one. We visited Critchill Court Care Home by appointment on Saturday the 24th of September and were most impressed. She was assessed by Critchill Court's assessor on the 3rd of October. They informed us she had
a room available on the 10th of October. She moved in, was greeted and given a cup of tea while her belongings were put in her room. We visited her almost a week later. She had settled and was happy and contented and informed us what was happening. We visited on 24/10/2022 on her 91st birthday, very happy and content.

My brother is encouraged to join in group activities and keeps in the communal areas of the home. The staff are very good to him and he has a good rapport with them. Visiting has been restricted because of Covid, but when I meet him in the outside pod he is always on time and his appearance is good
as if he is well looked after. He always describes the staff as nice and says he like it at Critchill Court.

Mum has been living at Critchill Court now for nearly four years and is very happy there. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and treat mum with dignity, care and compassion. During the past year, Covid precautions appear well thought out, practical and pragmatic. Mum feels at home in Critchill
Court and seems happy and comfortable there.

My mother was a long-term resident of Critchill Court Care Home until her passing in February of 2021. I would have no hesitation in recommending Critchill Court based on our experience over this time. Mum was always really well cared for and this provided me great comfort and reassurance. Her needs
were increasingly complicated (due to Dementia) but at every stage, the team around mum, the manager and key workers provided solutions and a 'can do' approach to her care needs. I was worryied at different stages as her needs evolved that she would have to move to somewhere else, which would have potentially been very unsettling for her, but because of the wonderful staff there, this didn't happen. They provided a safe, secure, caring environment - met my mother's needs with calmness, patience and skill- all of which gave myself and the rest of my family huge reassurance. Thanks very much.

The care and support provided is excellent. Staff are kind and professional and always busy. The rooms and furniture have all been recently updated or renewed. The meals provided are always freshly cooked and look very good.

Cannot fault the care my mother receives at Critchill Court. Staff always helpful, they phone up when mum needs anything. This is a great help to me. Facilities are good, with a lovely courtyard in the centre, perfect for mum to sit out and get plenty of fresh air. Thanks to all the lovely staff.

I brought Mum in nearly one year ago purely for respite. Dad also moved in a few months later but sadly passed away in hospital so Mum has stayed. Mum can be very difficult and quite harsh, and quite rude at times, but EVERYONE is always so nice to Mum, my sister and myself. Nothing is too much trouble,
there have been many tears from my sister and myself and the carers always give us a cuddle to help us. I honestly don't know what we would do if Mum wasn't in Critchill Court. The staff are lovely, very considerate to us all. I still remember what one person said to me "don't worry we are looking after Mum now - when you leave your visit just go away and don't worry about anything we will deal with everything". I am extremely grateful to every single person in the home - the residents walk round all happy and friendly chatting to us. It is a lovely place and I know we did the right thing deep down, as it is such a friendly place to be. I would be happy to live there when the time comes.

We have been so pleased with the way our friend has settled in and how well she has been looked aftert. She seems popular with staff which gives her a nice safe feeling. A year ago she was all alone and so confused but that's in the past now thanks to Critchill Court.

Last year I needed a home urgently for my troubled mum with Alzheimer's Disease who wasn't able to stay at her old care home. The staff listened and were full of compassion and couldn't be more helpful enabling mum to settle in straight away. The square layout means whichever direction mum turns she
will always find her bedroom. The secure garden allows mum the feeling of freedom she needs. The staff are extremely caring and always take time to listen to any concerns. The home is decorated in a bright and cheerful way, with plenty of open spaces and seating (not in a circle like some homes). There is a list of daily activities displayed for all to see. I can honestly say that they do happen because I've joined in with many of them. It's never easy to visit a loved one and then leave them behind, but I leave with a happier heart. I can't thank the staff enough for giving mum the respect and dignity that I feel she deserves through this extremely difficult, scary and very confusing time in her life.

Having become quite concerned about the welfare of my wife's elderly relative, and with advice from doctors, we looked around this home as a possible safe placement. We instantly liked what we saw, it has been brilliant for our relative who feels safer and is being given emotional and medical support.
Also
really enjoys the activities on offer and being able to socialise a lot more.
The staff have been brilliant and supportive.
Overall the premises are clean and safe with good food and staff and all the residents seem happy.

My mother went to Critchill Court for a one week respite stay. I felt as though she became one of the 'family' whilst there, and it was confidence instilling that the staff knew who she was and about her when I called to see how she was, even though she wasn't permanent. The other residents seemed settled
and contented and the staff seemed to have time for everyone and everything. We were made to feel welcome whilst visiting at dinner time, even with a baby in tow, and the staff were open to talking and didn't feel rushed. The difference in my mother over the course of her stay is immense; she seemed frail and lost when she arrived and left as the person she was several years ago...Well almost! Thank you to all of the staff and residents for making mum smile!

When my dad needed further care I was given two homes that were thought to be suitable for my dad's needs, one was literally round the corner to my house and one was about 15 minutes away, so naturally my instinct was to use the nearer home, until I went and visited Critchill Court, upon arrival and
after the tour I fell in love with the place, the biggest selling point for me was (and still is) the staff!


I cannot emphasise enough how well the staff look after the residents, they are amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble for them at all!! they really get to know the person so fast and work so very very hard, each and every one of them.


The Manager and the supervisors, along with the rest of the team are exceptional, they take time for even the "little things" to make the residents life that little better.


There is always something going on, and its very very clean.


I cannot thank them enough for what they have done and continue to do for my dad. Thank you very much!!!

My mother has just moved in on a placement after being in rest bite for 6 weeks. The manager and staff couldn't do enough for my mother. Getting tests done to make sure she received the best possible care. We are very grateful as a family and now know that she is safe and well cared for.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2017

I joined Critchill Court in 2017 as a night care assistant and progressed to become the Registered Manager in 2021. Over the years, I’ve taken on a variety of roles within the home and still enjoy getting hands-on—whether it's helping move furniture, covering the floor, or painting benches in the garden.


I'm deeply passionate about dementia care and strongly believe in adapting our environment to better meet the needs of our residents. I'm currently working towards my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, as continuous learning and development are very important to me. I actively encourage my team to pursue growth opportunities and expand their skills.
