My father has been at The Elms for three years now and we both love it. Dad has dementia so can have changeable moods but the staff handle dad brilliantly. I cannot fault his care, it is superb, everyone works very hard to make it a calm, happy place to live. Nothing is too much trouble. Because it's
a bungalow, its easy for people to get around with beautiful gardens and views over the countryside. You get to know the lovely staff and other family members, we always have a quick chat, it's a great atmosphere and I would thoroughly recommend anyone looking for a care home to consider The Elms.

The elms is a home that makes residents, friends and family feel part of something special. The personal care is outstanding, the atmosphere is lively and there is always laughter. This is how life should be especially as we age. The new wing is contemporary and beautifully designed to take advantage
of its location in the countryside. Many great parties and family events with all generations. I enjoy myself every time I come here. The staff truly care for each person that steps through the door.

All the staff are warm and welcoming to my brothers and I, and seem able to contain my Mum's more difficult character traits.
Mum also seems to be in much better health for being there. She seems to be well looked after, safe, and has been helped to integrate a little too.

The long-standing staff are all friendly and helpful and know the residents individually (and their families) and go out of their way to support them and make them feel they're at home; they are also poised to spring into action when required and are highly professional in dealing with any difficult
situations that arise. The home has a lot of clever touches from multiple intimate seating areas indoors and out to bird feeders outside the window of each room: everyone and everything seems designed to go the extra mile.

We looked around several residential care homes when the time came my Mum needed more help and as soon as we stepped foot inside The Elms we knew we had found the right place. All the staff are friendly, approachable and have taken the time to get to know us as a family, we are always made to feel
welcome when we visit. The Elms is always spotlessly clean, very well cared for and the gardens are a delight with views over open countryside, a very peaceful setting. In My Mum's own words "They cannot do enough for me, they look after me. What more can I ask for, I am very lucky and the food is very good". We highly recommend The Elms for anyone who is looking for outstanding care for their loved one.

My father moved to The Elms in January '23. The team at The Elms helped him to settle into his new surroundings while also helping to reassure us, that we had made the right decision for him.
Once dad got to know the team members and they in turn understood him, dad came to feel that The Elms was
his home. There was always a range of activities to participate in and the choice of food was good.
We found that dad was always happy to see us and when we brought him out for a day with the family, or a meal out, he was happy to 'go home' and back to his usual base.
In dad's final weeks, the team at The Elms not only preserved dad's comfort, cleanliness and usual high standards, including daily shaves, but did so with kindness and respect.
They also always made sure that we, as family, were looked after too.
Thank you for all your compassion and showing us that we had made the right choice back in 2023.

My father in law moved to the Elms nearly two years ago, a difficult decision but one that was made easier by our choice of the Elms.
Despite initial difficulties in settling in to his new surroundings, the staff did a wonderful job of helping him adapt and keeping us informed of any issues and how
we could help.
Despite his worsening ability to communicate with the staffs patience and consideration they could understand and accommodate his needs, even when that meant a wet not electric shave.
As time passed and he settled in to his home he selectively enjoyed the regular activities especially the sing a longs.
Finally however time catches up with us all and it was the dignity, respect and love shown by all in those final days that has prompted me to write this review.
We are all grateful that we chose the Elms and that it has such a wonderful and dedicated staff.

My mum's been at the residential home since December. From day one Mum has settled in very well.
She enjoys the huge range of daily activities on offer, the food always looks lovely and full of variety and always homemade.
Mum enjoys her cake and coffee in the afternoons a real treat.
The home
is impeccably clean, the staff are always friendly and nothing is ever too much for them, even at busy times.
The social media updates are an excellent way of keeping not only myself updated but the whole family, seeing varies photographs of what mum has been up too.
Always kept informed of any issues if any including medical.
All round excellent service.

My mother is a resident of The Elms. She has dementia and a number of medical conditions, which make caring for her demanding, and sometimes frustrating. The staff at The Elms are outstanding in caring for her, their approach to caring for dementia residents has settled my mother down, she is less frustrated
and I feel that they really know her, her needs and her personality. The home is clean, the staff really engage with the residents. I know this takes a lot of work and care. She genuinely seems happy here. There is a huge range of activities for the residents, the food looks great and I really appreciate the social media updates. The staff never appear stressed or overburdened, and clearly genuinely care for the residents.
We are kept informed of any updates, are free to visit any time and are always made to feel welcome.
This is how a care home should be.

The Elms is a beautifully run residential care home that looked after my dear mum in the closing years of what was a very busy and active life.
The staff are delightful courteous and helpful and go the extra mile to assist.
It's a beautiful setting affording far-reaching country views from many of
the rooms, a big sun terrace, and masses of recreational space for the residents to mingle.
The ambience is good and the place is always spotless and a home from home for all its residents.
I never worry about Mum being there because I know she is well cared for and happy. The staff are a great crowd who work well together and I never feel anyone is unapproachable.
There is a lovely garden for everyone to enjoy in the better weather filled with a variety of shrubs, and bedding plants, tables and chairs are provided so in the better weather everyone who is able can fully enjoy the facilities.

My mum moved into The Elms at a very emotional time for our family. All the staff have just been the best support for mum and their care and love for mum cannot be faulted. The room is clean and homely and the rest of the public rooms are so welcoming. Mum is thriving on the food and the exercises and
activities which happen every day look stimulating and fun. Mum loves the singing and animal visits best. We can visit at any time and nothing is too much trouble. Mum always looks clean and well cared for. I would highly recommend The Elms.

My brother lives at The Elms, his care is exceptional. Warm and caring staff, especially the Manager. All his needs are met. The food is excellent. The staff take time to do one-on-ones with him. They have so much patience considering his mental state. Although so upsetting to see him in such need,
so comforting to know he has the best care.

Mum moved into The Elms 3 months ago. She is looked after by such caring, kind, warm staff. Her room is spotless and cosy as is the rest of the home. Her needs are met to a very high standard and she's looking so much better with the lovely food! The gardens and views beyond are beautiful - such a treat.
At a difficult time in our lives regarding our parents, The Elms came to our rescue both physically and emotionally.

My husband has been a resident for 20 months and his care is excellent, he is always clean and his food is extremely good. The staff administer his meds on time which is important with Parkinson's and his catheter care is dealt with with dignity and they keep infections at bay. The angels who look after
him are 5 stars, from the nurses, kitchen staff, cleaner and maintenance gentlemen they all make me feel cared for as well. The home is spotlessly clean and the garden is delightful. I am so pleased we are able to have the services of The Elms.

My mother moved to The Elms following a stroke and a diagnosis of dementia just before Christmas 2023 and they couldn't have been more welcoming. All the staff have made a real fuss of Mum and involved her in the group activities so she settled in really quickly. I know she is really happy at The Elms
because she suggests friends and other members of the family should move in.

My mother has been a resident at The Elms since Christmas 2023. It is a delightful place being all on one floor surrounded by beautiful, well-maintained grounds. The laminate floors throughout and slopes instead of steps mean my mother can use her walking aid. She has a very pleasant light room with
an ensuite. The food is very nice. I've been invited to lunch. Mum takes part in all sorts of organised activities with other residents which she enjoys. The staff are wonderful kind good fun cheerful endlessly patient professional and caring. They take care to help Mum with her clothes, hair, nails and makeup which is very important to her. They monitor her health and medication and I know that if I have any concerns that the home manager will deal with them quickly efficiently and professionally. I could not be happier with the care my mother receives at The Elms and she also realises how well she is looked after.

I'm passionate about delivering high standards of care for the residents we look after. I've been in the care industry for 29 years, with my start as a care assistant and working my way up to become a registered manager.


Being a registered manager for a care home carries significant responsibility, as it involves overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure the highest standards of care for residents. My role requires a balance of compassionate leadership, strong organisational skills, and a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks such as those set by CQC. I ensure that staff are well-trained, residents’ needs are met individually with dignity and respect, and that the care home operates safely and efficiently. Building trust with residents, families, and staff is essential, as is the ability to respond effectively to challenges and continuously improve service quality. My role is both demanding and rewarding, with a direct impact on the well-being and quality of life of vulnerable individuals.

Hi, my name is Anita, and I have worked in the care sector for approximately 24 years, the last 10 of which have been here at The Elms. I am level 4 qualified, I am one of the Senior Clinical Leads, and I enjoy every minute of my job and still do!


Being a Clinical Lead here means wearing many hats — and that’s what makes it such a fulfilling role. At the heart of what I do is making sure our residents receive safe, high-quality, and compassionate care every single day. I’m not just in the office — I’m very much on the floor, working alongside our care staff, offering guidance, and stepping in wherever needed.


I spend a lot of time supporting the team — helping with training, answering questions, and making sure our care plans are truly person-centred. I carry out audits, medication checks, and help keep us compliant with all regulations, but I always keep my focus on the people — both residents and staff.


We are situated in a rural location with beautiful views that our residents all enjoy. We have a lovely working relationship with our residents and enjoy reminiscing about their past experiences and having a laugh. Here at The Elms, I'm proud to say we provide top-quality care and compassion for all of our residents and we always ensure all their needs are met.

Job Title: Senior Clinical Lead Joined: 2016

Hi, I'm Kat, and I love working at the Elms. I've been here for over 10 years, and it gets better all the time. As a clinical lead, no two days are ever the same. My day starts with a handover, and I check in on any changes with our residents, review clinical notes, and make sure we’re fully up to date on everyone’s care needs. Medication rounds, supporting and mentoring care staff and regular supervisions are part of my role. I ensure our clinical practices are safe, up to date and in line with CQC standards.


I work closely with GPs, district nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Communication is key to making sure our residents get joined-up, holistic care. I meet regularly with families, too, helping them feel informed and reassured about their loved one’s care. When the Registered Manager is away, I step in to support the running of the home.


What keeps me going is knowing that I’m making a real difference — not just to the residents, but to the staff as well. It’s a role that’s challenging, rewarding, and genuinely meaningful.
