As most of us would feel, giving up a home is very traumatic, but Mother was received with such genuine kindness and friendship at The Elms, that within twenty-four hours
Mother loves her beautiful room, looking out over fields of sheep and horses. When she wants to soak up some sun, she goes to a chair just outside her room, reads the paper, has a coffee and chats to passers-by.
The quality of the human environment sets The Elms Residential Home apart.
We are so happy and thankful to all the staff at The Elms.

I'm passionate about delivering high standards of care for the residents we look after. I've been in the care industry for 29 years, with my start as a care assistant and working my way up to become a registered manager.
Being a registered manager for a care home carries significant responsibility, as it involves overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure the highest standards of care for residents. My role requires a balance of compassionate leadership, strong organisational skills, and a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks such as those set by CQC. I ensure that staff are well-trained, residents’ needs are met individually with dignity and respect, and that the care home operates safely and efficiently. Building trust with residents, families, and staff is essential, as is the ability to respond effectively to challenges and continuously improve service quality. My role is both demanding and rewarding, with a direct impact on the well-being and quality of life of vulnerable individuals.
We have a great team here at The Elms with an atmosphere of happiness. The laughter from staff and residents alike throughout the corridors and home is satisfying to hear. The Elms is really a home from home for the residents, and this is how we like it to be.
Hi, my name is Anita, and I have worked in the care sector for approximately 24 years, the last 10 of which have been here at The Elms. I am level 4 qualified, I am one of the Senior Clinical Leads, and I enjoy every minute of my job and still do!
Being a Clinical Lead here means wearing many hats — and that’s what makes it such a fulfilling role. At the heart of what I do is making sure our residents receive safe, high-quality, and compassionate care every single day. I’m not just in the office — I’m very much on the floor, working alongside our care staff, offering guidance, and stepping in wherever needed.
I spend a lot of time supporting the team — helping with training, answering questions, and making sure our care plans are truly person-centred. I carry out audits, medication checks, and help keep us compliant with all regulations, but I always keep my focus on the people — both residents and staff.
We are situated in a rural location with beautiful views that our residents all enjoy. We have a lovely working relationship with our residents and enjoy reminiscing about their past experiences and having a laugh. Here at The Elms, I'm proud to say we provide top-quality care and compassion for all of our residents and we always ensure all their needs are met.
Hi, I'm Kat, and I love working at the Elms. I've been here for over 10 years, and it gets better all the time. As a clinical lead, no two days are ever the same. My day starts with a handover, and I check in on any changes with our residents, review clinical notes, and make sure we’re fully up to date on everyone’s care needs. Medication rounds, supporting and mentoring care staff and regular supervisions are part of my role. I ensure our clinical practices are safe, up to date and in line with CQC standards.
I work closely with GPs, district nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Communication is key to making sure our residents get joined-up, holistic care. I meet regularly with families, too, helping them feel informed and reassured about their loved one’s care. When the Registered Manager is away, I step in to support the running of the home.
What keeps me going is knowing that I’m making a real difference — not just to the residents, but to the staff as well. It’s a role that’s challenging, rewarding, and genuinely meaningful.
As the proud owner of an excellent care home, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing we’re making a real difference in people’s lives every day. Creating a warm, safe, and respectful environment where residents feel valued and genuinely cared for is at the heart of everything we do. I take immense pride in the dedication of our team, whose compassion, professionalism, and commitment to quality care are what make our home so special. Seeing residents thrive, families feel at ease, and staff grow in confidence and skill makes it all worthwhile. This isn’t just a business — it’s a community, and I’m proud to be part of it.
The team at the Elms is what makes it a success. I am grateful and proud of the incredible senior management team and all of our outstanding carers. These are the people who make the difference day to day.
