In choosing a care home for my 85 year old sister, we viewed five local establishments. Greenhill House was prominent. My sister moved into Greenhill late Nov. 2024. Whilst we may have had some initial scepticism, this was short lived. We have found every member of management and staff to be professional, attentive - obliging. The premises are clean to a high standard and the food of good quality. My sister has settled in well and enjoys being there. You are to be congratulated in running an excellent home.

I very much appreciate the team approach at Greenhill. The carers, admin, laundry and kitchen staff all show great concern and interest in both me and my husband. The young lady employed to manage activities is always positive and encouraging. I visit Greenhill most days and find most of the staff showing a high standard of respect to the residents. However I am most concerned at the continual rising costs and worry that I will no longer be able to afford the care of my husband.

My mum was resident in Greenhill House for nearly four years during which time she was really well cared for by the manager and her team. She had a lovely clean, well decorated room and went down in to the communal lounge everyday for her meals, company and to participate in the activities which were put on every day, keeping her stimulated and entertained. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, not only to the residents but also to the family and other visitors. They would always make time to stop for a chat and take an interest.

Lovely, friendly and helpful staff throughout. Always greeted with a smile whenever I have visited. Staff really enjoy their job and care deeply for all the residents. Have never not been greeted with a smile in the two-plus years of visiting.

My dad has lived at Greenhill House since June 2021. I feel very lucky to have found such a lovely care home for him. Before he moved in, Dad was reclusive and lonely and suffered from low mood but since moving into Greenhill he has become sociable and content. The decor of Dad's room is very pleasant and it is always spotlessly clean. He appreciates having an ensuite bathroom. The staff are compassionate and caring and care is tailored to the individual. Dad enjoys the varied activities provided by the very enthusiastic activities coordinator. I always feel welcome when I visit. Staff keep me updated and are always happy to answer questions. Greenhill has an excellent manager. There is a lovely atmosphere at Greenhill. Staff are always striving to improve the quality of life for residents. Now that Covid restrictions are easing, they are aiming to arrange more trips out. I would recommend Greenhill to anyone.

My mum died recently after having spent about three years in the lovely surroundings of Greenhill House. Mum suffered from dementia and throughout her stay, the care which she received from the staff was the best we could have wished for. At the end, my sister and I were able to stay with Mum so that she had both her family and Greenhill 'family' with her when she passed peacefully away. The kindness and compassion of the team to all of us were so appreciated. The staff who looked after Mum throughout her time at Greenhill have been caring and dedicated. Management and communication are excellent.

My dad died recently in Greenhill after being a resident for about five years. He was always cared for with respect and kindness. It was a hard decision for my mum for him to go into Greenhill permanently, and being a proud man, he found it hard too. All the staff spent time with him doing puzzles and talking to him and allowed him to walk inside and out day and night. During the last few days of his life, we were able to stay with him and the care that both he received and we received was exceptional.

I would have no doubt in recommending Greenhill to anyone.

Greenhill House has been home to both of my parents for a number of years. The suite they had enabled them to continue to be together although Mother suffered from Dementia. The friendship and care they received was exemplary and I can not speak highly enough of the Manager and her team. When Mum died 2 years ago, Dad moved into a lovely single room with garden access. The support of the staff was excellent, and he looked upon all of them as his family. Covid has been an extremely difficult time for Dad, our family, and not forgetting the Care Home staff themselves. Sadly Dad’s health deteriorated recently, and after several weeks in hospital was placed on end of life care. His one wish was to be able to return to Greenhill House to die, and the wonderful Manager and staff made his wish come true. He passed away happy to be with his friends and ‘ family’ “. My parents and our family have never had any reason to complain, and I can’t speak highly enough of the wonderful team. Thank you.

My Mum and Dad moved into Greenhill House about three years ago, when they were both in their early nineties. They began their stay in a beautiful flat with its own small kitchen and lounge. The views from the windows were of the hills above Cheddar. They were helped to live as independently as they wished, with help always on hand when they needed it. My Mum developed dementia and the staff were very supportive of my Father as well as giving my Mum all the extra love and care she needed. The staff were more like family members than carers and both my parents were very fond of the staff. Unfortunately, my Mum passed away after a fall and a short hospital stay. Dad was devastated, but the staff rallied around him and supported him until his own passing this May. He had been hospitalised for a time but wanted to return to Greenhill House. The Hospital and Greenhill worked together to make this possible. We cannot praise Greenhill staff highly enough for their dedication. Thank you!

My cousin lived at Greenhill House for a couple of years prior to his death in June 2021. During his time there he was looked after with a great deal of love and care, and was given unstintingly the significant level of attention and support he needed at that time. It was abundantly clear to us, on the occasions when we were able to visit, that he was treated, along with all the other residents, with great respect, making the House a real home for all of them and according them the dignity they deserved. The accommodation is of a very high standard, and, more importantly, the atmosphere was positive, happy and welcoming. We are very grateful to the manager and staff for all they did for him, and thereby for us his family.

In the time that my mum has been a resident, since October 2019, we have found the staff very supportive and helpful. Despite the fact that she has not settled as well as we would have wished, we have no worries about the care and treatment she has received. When we were able to visit normally pre-covid there was always a warm and friendly welcome, and since Covid visits have always been made as comfortable as possible. Weekends are probably the most difficult time for the residents as it appears that there are few formal activities taking place. The manager is always willing to listen and help if there are any concerns and keeps all families updated with what is happening on a weekly basis.

Fantastic care is given to my 98-year-old father. He has made the transition very well and they have also been very supportive to my mum who now lives alone and visits. It has a very family atmosphere and we got used to it through daycare initially before covid. The staff seems to work as a real team which I think makes it work so well compared with other places we have experienced with other relatives. Thank you Greenhill.

My father was a resident at Greenhill house for 3 years in the dementia section. He has received excellent care throughout. All the staff have been caring and considerate, treating him with respect, kindness, patience and affection. As a family, we have always been welcome to visit as much as we wanted until lockdown last year. Following this visits were resumed at the very earliest opportunity. The home is exceptionally well managed and has coped well under the severe pressures of covid. The home has been very open with us with a weekly manager's update about events, activities, testing, vaccination etc. The manager has always made us feel that people, both residents and family, are her priority. Sadly my father passed away in January and he was looked after very well at the end of his life by care home staff, local GP and district nurses together. I was able to visit as much as I wanted and be with him at the end.

The lovely staff at Greenhill House took great care of my dad. He thoroughly enjoyed his life there and the efforts staff made to ensure everything he needed was provided exceeded our expectations. When he was diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier this year everyone rallied around to make his final weeks as pleasant as possible and this made the final days much less daunting.

The staff are super efficient and super friendly. They interpret individuals needs and offer great support without being in any way patronising. Communication between staff and resident’s family is excellent and we were always informed immediately of any issues that needed action. I am so glad my dad moved to Greenhill House for his final months.

Jenny FutcherJob Title:Registered Manager

I have worked for Somerset Care for 21 years, and have been based at Greenhill House since September 2018. As soon as I walked into Greenhill I knew I wanted to be there – it’s a lovely home with a really nice atmosphere in a brilliant location.

I love the everyday contact with residents that you get in a residential care setting. I can take a break from the office and spend time with our residents, and my door is always open to them if they fancy a chat.

The thing I love most about my job can also be the hardest part at times – the variety. No two days are ever the same! I can come into work with plans for the day which change as soon as I walk in the door, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have an extremely knowledgeable and caring team at Greenhill, and we are proud to have created a warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for our residents and their visitors.
