Halcon really feels to me like a second home and the staff all family. However their care is still always excellent .
I know I'm safe and my family know I'm safe and we are all so grateful to them all. Lots of laughter and Halcon annual summer barbecue to enjoy, this time on a western theme , amazing plus a trip out to a local garden centre ( with air conditioning)
So a fortnight so very much appreciated, thank you all.
I would recommend Halcon 100%

Wonderful home

My son recently spent a week at The Halcon Centre during which time the staff kindly arranged for him to spend some time at the radio station. Needless to say he was delighted and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I appreciate that it was an early start for the staff to get him prepared, especially during a heatwave. He spent two hours on the radio helping to present the program along side the regular hosts. It was a dream come true for him and something he will never forget. Once again he cannot thank the staff enough for their kind perseverance in arranging this for him.
Dear Marilyn, thank you so much for your incredible feedback for the Halcon Centre in Taunton. Roger enjoyed his visit to Halcon as usual. He loves going for his little holiday, and it gives me a fabulous break because he is in really good hands. They do everything possible so he enjoys his visits. He comes home stimulated and happy. He really enjoys the food, and he loves the personal touch from all the staff. Thank you Halcom, you are a lifesaver.

Our son became unwell - waking up in the morning with breathing difficulties. He was admitted into hospital with a severe chest infection. When in hospital the manager of Halcon visited on a regular basis as did some staff. They made sure that our sons needs were met and that the hospital staff were made aware that he was very unlikely to communicate about wheather we was in any pain, thirsty, uncomfortable, need to pass urine. It was essential that the nursing staff asked hime about his needs.

Halcon Centre
Thank you everyone for making this possible.

3 of us often visit our friend when she is at Halcon for respite care. We are so impressed with what we see on our visits. Halcon has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are always cheerful and helpful. They made us delicious coffee on our last visit in their new coffee shop. We know our friend thoroughly enjoys her visits to Halcon.

On days when residents go out, they should be first up so they are ready to leave in good time without rushing. This does not often happen, which is frustrating.
Overall, I enjoy living at Halcon.

My grandmother (Robert's mum) has visited him every week for the years he has been here- she is also made to feel so welcome and part of their family.
There is no better feeling knowing your family member is cared for and loved the way Robert is.
A huge thank you to Kevin and all of the staff at Halcon for all you do.

I must admit the staff are absolutely brilliant, I do really enjoy myself coming in. A Bit gutted had to leave to go back to my wife lol. Been here twice now, residents there as well, lovely. I'll always come back.
Dear Lee, thank you so much for your brilliant review! We are so glad that you enjoy your time at Halcon, and look forward to welcoming you back for a further respite stay in the future. Best regards, Halcon Centre
Good week for my son. Would have liked to have gone out during his week. He did go to church on Sunday. A trip to the park, restaurant or shopping would have been nice. He was wearing someone elses trousers the day of departure, came home using someone elses sling, so his is still at Halcon. Missing socks. Urine bottle came home stinking of urine.

Halcon Centre
The attitude of meeting him where he is at and demonstrating interest in who he is as a person as well as caring for his physical needs, from both the management and whole team has been outstanding.

We pride ourselves on our person-centred approach to care, and on taking the time to get to know our residents and visitors as individuals - we are so pleased that your experience reflects this. We look forward to your son's next respite stay with us. Best regards,Halcon Centre
My respite at this car home was meant to be a seven-day break. Haven't hadn't had any respite for five years. This is my first experience with respite initially they couldn't be kind enough almost overly nice, but that was a reason for that I will explain in a minute I'm a vegetarian I don't feel like the cases for my dietary needs properly even though I paid 1700 pounds to stay for seven days turned out to be very stressful. I hadn't had a bath in literally five years. The first bath they gave me was really nice and warm and hot. The second bath they gave me was just warm. Even though they know it's a massive effort for me to get from my wheelchair to the bath being hoisted. I was quite shocked from previously being a professional earning 35,000 a year to be disregarded as completely disabled. They couldn't see past the fact that I was in a wheelchair that is not true that they are a really good place for disabled people on discharge, I was treated very badly. The manager was a very rude man
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We were not aware of your concerns during your stay with us last November, so are grateful to you for bringing them to our attention now. We welcome all feedback as it provides us with the opportunity to learn and improve, and always invite an...
My sister always enjoys her stay at Halcon and I feel relieved to know she is in good and safe hands with kind staff.

I have been coming to this respite care centre for 15 years and I have always found that the staff are extremely helpful and professional. The rooms provide all the facilities one needs, hospital beds, ceiling hoist and fully equipped wet room bathrooms. The staff are all trained to use this equipment and do so very safely. There are TVs in all the rooms. Being very close to the center of Taunton mobile phone signals are excellent. It has extensive grounds and they are used for outdoor events in the summer. You can get public transport to the center of Taunton and a large retail park is not far away including multi screens cinema and bowling alley. There are staff specifically employed to help the respite and long-term clients with activities like arts and crafts and also group activities like bingo. They also organise outings. Three meals a day and unlimited coffee and tea and of course, biscuits are provided by a kitchen which seems to be open 24 hours! Five Stars.
Thank you for leaving such a fantastic review for Halcon! We always look forward to your respite stays with us, and we are so pleased that you rate your experience, the facilities, activities and care on offer as 5-star. Thank you for your kind words, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
We have been using Halcon Centre for over ten years and have always found the staff caring with the manager keeping a tight ship regarding standards.

Meet the Team (1)

I am passionate about breaking down the barriers that many young people with complex physical disabilities experience to living a fun and fulfilling life, and instead support their ability to live their lives as they choose. At the Halcon Centre, we create the right environment and provide the right specialist care to empower these young adults to take control of their own lives. We have no strict routines here – our residents can choose when to get up, when to eat and what they want to do with their day. Our role is to ensure all of their needs are met so that they can enjoy being as independent as possible.
I like to think of the Halcon Centre as an accessible hotel with 24/7 tailored care and support thrown in – our residents are our guests, and we want to make sure that their stay with us is an enjoyable and hassle-free experience.
As a small-scale respite and residential care centre, we get to know those in our care as individuals, to learn their likes and dislikes, understand their hobbies and interests and share their sense of humour. Whether long-term residents or returning respite visitors, building this rapport provides familiarity, comfort, continuity and reassurance for those we care for, helping them to truly feel at home at Halcon. Ultimately, we are here to support you to live life to the full, on your terms. So, whether you’re interested in staying with us for a respite break, or considering something more long-term, we are here to help you thrive.
