My dad lived at Moorhaven for just under a year until passing recently. I cannot recommend this home enough, my dad had dementia and his care here at the home was exceptional. The staff and manager go above and beyond to ensure all the residents needs are met through care to nutrition, and facilities, and beyond. I couldn't have wished for a nicer home for my dad to spend his last months of life.
Kind regards,
Moorhaven
- Made welcome on arrival, care home was presentable + homely, staff were friendly.
- During her stay my mother was offered a variety of activities, a selection of food + drinks on a regular basis.
- Her personal care needs were attended to + the care staff respected her dignity + choice throughout her stay.
- My mother + I would personally like to thank Ollie for his care, understanding + support during a difficult time for my mother. 5 stars for Ollie.
We're pleased to hear that the assessment with Paula was carried out quickly and professionally, and that you and your mother felt welcomed into a homely and friendly environment. It's also lovely to know that your mother had such an...
My step Dad was rushed into respite care as my mum had a breakdown. He was well looked after with kindness and compassion. All of the staff have been amazing with him, always kind patient and professional. Moorhaven is set up so that it feels like an actual home environment in a series of small hubs. He is now in the dementia unit which only has 8 bedrooms again centered around a living room/dining/kitchen area. There are really lovely outdoor areas and the dementia unit has large glass doors that look out into grass and trees which he can access. There are morning and afternoon activities, and often puzzles and games being played. Also really good food.
Kind regards,
Moorhaven
I visited him this morning, and found him happily sat in a comfortable chair beside another gentleman. His hearing aids have been replaced thanks to the staff, and he can now hear so we can all enjoy a full conversation.

Mum moved into her new home (Moorhaven) in December '23. We were quite worried how she would settle in and how life in a care home would be. We needn't have worried. Moorhaven is everything we could ever have asked for. We all feel so fortunate Mum is here. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Guests are made very welcome. Moorhaven links into local schools for different projects and it's wonderful to see the different generations mix. Mum is flourishing here. A huge thank you to everyone from all of our family.
Kind regards,
Moorhaven
The home is clean & dementia friendly, allowing residence to walk with purpose.
Management respond to emails in a timely manner, now offering prompt feedback following significant events.
Management, Senior staff & care staff are getting to know my father, his health conditions & behaviours & are making his residency as comfortable & inclusive as possible.
His daily carers are approachable, & attentive to his preferences.
The catering/kitchen staff provide huge portions, & a varied selection of 3 hot meals a day with deserts, snacks, beverages & biscuits, & a 'tipple' a couple of times a week.
Activities coordinators are friendly with planned entertainment, increasing social stimulation
Best regards,
Moorhaven

Dad moved into Moorhaven in October. It was a big move and it has taken him a while to settle and with some degree of dementia he has struggled to understand why he had to leave his home and cat. The staff have been very kind and friendly which has definitely helped. Dad is quite fixed in his ways and is not always receptive to offers of help/guidance however the staff have persevered and he is now much happier and cooperating with help re bathing etc. It is reassuring to know that he now has 24 hr care he is warm well fed and always has someone around. He is not yet joining in with activities but hopefully this may improve. I have just got access to the app from Micheala which is helpful to read about his daily progress. When we have raised any concerns the staff have listened and addressed them which has been reassuring. I think it would be helpful to better prepare and support families when moving a family member into care as it can be a very stressful time.

My husband has just returned from his first respite care stay, an anxious time for both of us. The key thing is the staff who are so welcoming, kind and helpful - and hard working. The respite room could be booked well in advance which was good. The accommodation is set out with smaller lounges and dining rooms which feels less overwhelming for residents. There are lots of nice areas to sit, all on ground floor level and a lovely enclosed garden. A second stay has been booked.
Dear Georgina, thank you for sharing your feedback for your husband's first respite stay at Moorhaven in Taunton. We are so glad that the team were able to ease your anxieties about this first experience of care, and that is was a positive experience for you both. We look forward to welcoming your husband back for his next stay with us. Best regards,Moorhaven
We visit my mother usually about twice a week. Our visit is always received by happy and helpful staff. My mother has been at Moorhaven for about eighteen months and she is always happy and cheerful. The staff on duty are always happy to help her and she appreciated their kindness.

Mum has been a resident at Moorhaven for over 4 years. The staff are cheerful and kind and have been able to adapt to Mum's changing care needs. Although it is a care home, it feels like a home. My sister and I usually visit 3 times a week and communication with her carers and other staff has always been good.

Moorhaven feels very homely. Various lovely gardens to sit in. Rooms very cosy, not all en-suite. Excellent choice and quality of food. My dad moved to this home in March, best move we did, from day 1 he settled well, staff were fantastic in making him and all family welcome. Since dad moved from another nursing home, he has shown improvement, hes now mixing well, eating better, and its lovely to see that he spends more time in the lounge then his room, which this is down to the staff, thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It has warmed our hearts to see the improvement in your Dad since he has been with us - we are glad that he feels settled and at home at Moorhaven. Best regards,Moorhaven
