The Old Vicarage is quite simply a haven of tranquility, good organisation and excellent care. We count ourselves blessed that we were able to place our father there. He spent his last 6 months being well cared for and in peace.
Absolutely fantastic care provided by The Old Vicarage - 11/10! My Mum has been with them since December 2024 and she loves everything about being there. Fantastic room, great facilities and the staff are all great. When I visit I can see the connection and the relationship Mum has with the staff which is lovely to see, I honestly believe they see her as a friend (as does she), a real credit to the Team here. Lovely setting and huge garden which is so well kept, activities on a daily basis and lots of things for Mum to get involved with if she wants to. But for me, the best bit of all is the staff who make Mum feel loved, safe and secure - that's all I could ever ask for and they do this exceptionally well. #greatwork@TheOldVicarage
The nursing care was wonderful and in the final two weeks they gave my family a huge amount of support for which we will be forever grateful.
During her time there there she would take part in a wide range of activities and would often sit out on the patio and look out over the delightful gardens. It was a special place for her.
A very caring home and one in which made my Mum very happy. Thank you.
A huge thank you to all the staff.
Just lovely thoughtful care from all the staff, nothing is too much trouble. Beautiful surroundings and a small tight knit group of residents with an individual approach to needs... Can't recommend it more!
My brother has been in the Old Vicarage for six years and has benefited greatly from the care and attention he has received there. Many of the physical problems he had have now been resolved thanks to the daily attention he gets. He has been able to continue his hobby of gardening and growing produce outside in the lovely gardens. There is a wide variety of activities on offer such as visits to Steart Marshes, garden centres and local coffee mornings; all organised by an experienced carer. The friendly, happy atmosphere of the Vicarage together with the considerate management make it the excellent care home that it is.
The Old Vicarage has been an absolutely wonderful place for Mum to live. Mum went from living alone to a home where she made new friends and lived in beautiful surroundings. Mum was initially able to get around and enjoy the activities and facilities but as she became less mobile, the staff at the Old Vicarage was able to continue to make it feel like home for Mum. I spent many hours visiting Mum on my trips home and was always so impressed at the love and care given to all the residents; how welcoming everyone was to me; and the high expectations of those running the care home, as well as their involvement with the residents. Mum loved the food and I joined her for some meals which I thoroughly enjoyed. The Old Vicarage staff members truly care for the residents, their family and friends. It is hard to convey in words our gratitude for the all that this precious care home has done for Mum.
She enjoyed the communal areas and the organised activities, particularly anything involving music, which was her main interest throughout her life.
In her latter months after a decline in her health, the level of attentiveness and care was second to none and the care home and all the carers could not of done more.
I saw that my mother was treated very well and included in as many activities as possible even as her condition worsened. The level of care right until her death was excellent and they treated me with kindness and respect at all times but especially as she was dying. She died with dignity in a beautiful and peaceful home. A beautiful garden full of flowers and wildlife was a joy to see through her window.
My family and I are very grateful to the staff at The Old Vicarage Care home for the outstanding care they gave our mum in her last 3 months of life. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found the Old Vicarage amongst the myriad of other care homes available. The staff were very welcoming and helpful from the outset and we knew instantly that it was the perfect 'home from home' for our mum. The environment & building itself are spotlessly clean and welcoming, with numerous rooms overlooking the immaculate large gardens. The residents are clearly happy, with an emphasis on supported independence where possible, but with the individualised care and compassion that is also needed.
Mum was happy and content, each day being client-centred with flexibility and choice in all aspects of care and her daily routine. With close links with with an excellent local GP Practice and District Nursing Team the staff were able to support mum, and the family throughout her time there. Thank you.
I am so impressed with the care my mum received in her final months at The Old Vicarage. The staff were fantastic not only did they support mum so well but they all supported our family members with the very difficult time we were going through. They went above and beyond for my mum and treated her with dignity and respect. My mum was very happy at The Old Vicarage, which gave us great comfort. I can't thank them enough for everything they've done and as a family we will be forever grateful.
Mum particularly appreciates the range of activities on offer, along with the home cooked food. Residents are encouraged to help with gardening and taken on local outings. Mum has been able to maintain links with her home village which has made the transition easier for her.
I have total confidence in the care Mum is receiving; this is certainly not what I imagined a care environment to be like. I am beyond grateful for the exceptional support given to both Mum and me.
Cannot thank The Old Vicarage team enough for the Care they give my Mother, she has gone from a lonely person in her own home, to joining in with many activities, knitting again, and singing with the residents. She is always saying she loves the food and all the staff are lovely. When we visit weekly we find everyone very friendly and caring.
I am so impressed with the care my mum received at The Old Vicarage. The staff were so lovely and supportive of my mum's needs, and she was treated with dignity, respect and as an individual, and this was reflected by how happy my mum was there. I cannot thank the staff enough, as it was such a relief to the family to know she was being so well looked after, safe and was comfortable. Thank you.
I cannot express how much the last two weeks spent in The Old Vicarage Care Home have helped me get over my recent hip replacement and several years of extremely stressful events. The wonderful staff at all times have been a joy to meet, chat to and experience their help in every way. The whole team has surrounded me with warmth, friendship and extreme care. The surroundings both inside and out are beautiful and so well cared for and maintained, therefore all in all I feel compelled to write this tribute.
Having visited a lot and directly experienced two care homes in Somerset I can say The Old Vicarage is a wonderful establishment with a truly amazing staff who looked after our father better than I could ever have hoped. They really went out of their way to make him comfortable and tried hard to involve him in the life of the home. I was really impressed with the range of activities on offer and the proactive way they were presented. The building and gardens are also beautiful and it is generally a very peaceful and pleasant environment. I can't recommend it highly enough!
The Old Vicarage team provided my father with excellent care through to the end of his life. They were kind and supportive to me and the family, making a difficult time more bearable, and always took time to talk and update us. The home has a happy, relaxed feel of a family home. It was always clean and fresh and tea was always available! The garden is a wonderful haven of peacefulness to wander around and sit in. I cannot praise the staff enough for their kind, caring approach and their good humour.
My respite stay at The Old Vicarage has been very enjoyable. The staff are first class, the facilities are second to none, the residents friendly, food good and so I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place whether as a resident or respite care. Also, the house and grounds around are beautiful.
Overall we have been very pleased with the care received.
Thank you Old Vicarage.
Since I arrived three months ago I have always felt safe and well cared for. I was welcomed with kindness and courtesy even when I had to call for help four or five times during the night. I am impressed with the atmosphere here amongst the staff themselves, there is much laughter and seem to work really well together and respect each other. I don't see this home as an institution but as a community of care. I'm grateful too for the way in which my family and friends are always made welcome. I am happy here.
