Very worried at first to make such a big change in my life, but things have changed for the better. Stress and loneliness have gone because of so much care and attention. No regrets whatsoever.
My mother is now a resident in a bungalow in the grounds of The Old Vicarage. It is the best decision we ever made. She is safe, secure, never lonely and looked after day and night. She is happier now than she has been for a very long time. All the staff are wonderful.
A very friendly home, where nothing is too much trouble. The residents are treated with compassion and dignity and well cared for.
I do feel that there could be more entertainment to fill mums day.
Excellent care home with excellent staff. Relative is very happy and well looked after.
Mum has spent nearly 3 happy years here and in that time we have never had any concerns about her welfare. It is very reassuring to know that she is so well looked after by the friendly and caring staff who make the care home feel like one big happy family.
We chose The Old Vicarage in 2007 for location and known friendly staff. Since then mums condition has deteriorated and her needs increased considerably. The home has been one step ahead and has met her changing situation sensitively and appropriately. They demonstrate a commitment to safety and comfort in her familiar surrounding for as long as they are able. Family visits are welcomed. A handsome building with delightful grounds has been thoughtfully adapted over the years and a recent programme of improvement has resulted in considerable enhancement without undue disruption to residents. Activities are no longer relevant for my mother so I cannot comment on this aspect, Similarly, I have no comparisons on cost but I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else.
Mum was apprehensive at first but soon got accustomed to her new home, the staff treated her with respect and kindness and gave her the care that she required.
The home has provided good home cooked food and plenty of fluids.
Mum always looked need and tidy, as her health deteriorated she was treated with dignity and made comfortable.
Visitors were well looked after with endless cups of tea and cakes.
My mother was a resident at The Old Vicarage for 8 years. She received excellent care during that time including 'end of life care' when the time came. Staff are cheerful and caring which reflects well on the management. Rooms overlook the large garden or surrounding countryside. The bungalows in the grounds allow privacy and independence but residents also receive any care required.
