I stayed at The Old Vicarage for one week of respite care. I had been in hospital with a broken ankle. I loved my stay there; the carers were consistently happy and loving, so that I felt very cared for. The management made sure that everything was in order and the food was beautifully prepared with plenty of variety - especially the fresh fruit. Each day there were interesting activities in the lounge with enthusiastic participation. The gardens are particularly beautiful, with places to sit and walk around. Visitors were made very welcome.
I was nursed back to full health, put on weight, all thanks to the excellent, kind staff, always cheerful and willing to help, nothing was too much trouble, they were all marvellous.
Dad has been a resident at The Old Vicarage for a year. He is very happy there and feels safe and well looked after, which is all down to the care, support and dedication of the lovely, friendly staff.
Dad recently celebrated his 100th birthday and the staff could not have done more to help us make his day so very special.
Our family take huge comfort from knowing Dad is so well looked after.
I would strongly recommend this accommodation (namely The Old Vicarage Care Home) for anyone to be cared for and also the cleanliness of the accommodation, long may it reign. I was most impressed and certainly would stay again, it would be my choice.
Had a wonderful convalescence here. My room was comfortable and had a lovely view of the garden. The food was great and I could eat in my room or go to the dining room. Various activities were offered in the afternoon. Some inside and some outdoor activities.
I and the rest of the family were relieved that Dad soon settled in, and his ground floor room overlooks the beautiful garden which is accessible by wheelchair. This summer he has loved seeing the lavender blooming in the beds near the patio.
We are always warmly welcomed and kept informed and up to date with any health issues.
In my opinion The Old Vicarage is the very best residential option for Dad and we were lucky to find it.
All the staff I came into contact with were so very kind, patient and understanding and in no time at all I realised that I could trust them fully to meet all Mums care needs. Mum has settled better than we could possibly have hoped. She enjoys her food, is able to join in some of the activities but most of all loves the garden and watching the birds. The staff are respectful, kind and very patient when dealing with her needs. We are confident that we have chosen the very best home for Mum and owe a debt of gratitude to all the staff who are caring for her. We would highly recommend The Old Vicarage.
My mum has been at The Old Vicarage since the beginning of November and I think we struck gold finding it, at 98 years old it must be a daunting experience to go into a care home but she was very well looked after from day one. The staff are very friendly and have been very helpful in sorting out any problems that occurred, the food is excellent and Mum is looking forward to the warm weather when she can spend some time in the lovely gardens. She is encouraged to get up and about to help her mobility and we have seen the improvement. Many thanks.
My father has been a resident at The Old Vicarage for the last three years. He settled in straight away and is very happy there. The staff are incredibly kind and caring and he couldn't be getting better care. His surroundings are lovely and spotlessly clean with views out over the beautiful gardens. There are plenty of activities for the residents to enjoy and individual sessions for those not wanting to join in the group sessions. There is also the opportunity for residents to express their individual talents. It is lovely to see Dad so happy and settled and we can't thank the staff enough for the wonderful care he is receiving. I would recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone looking for care.
We are very pleased with how Dad is cared for at the home. He is comfortable and contented. He has been through huge changes in his life and has settled into the home very well. The staff are marvellous and nothing seems to be too much trouble. It is such a comfort to me, as his daughter, to know that he is in great hands and looked after so well. We couldn't have found a more suitable place for Dad. Thank you to all.
My dad is 99 years old and went into The Old Vicarage on the 3rd of December last year for respite care. He settled in quickly and he decided he would like to stay. The care Dad receives is excellent, the staff are very thoughtful and kind. The home is spotless, the food is very good and you could not ask for better! Whilst Dad does not take part in the activities, he will join everyone in the lounge and watch what is happening and the activity leader will always chat with him and he is happy with this arrangement. Dad looks better than he has looked in a long time. I wish I had encouraged him to move there sooner!
Mum has been at The Old Vicarage for two years now. Following a severe stroke, Mum needs constant care. Loss of her independence has been hard to accept for Mum but the kindness and patience of the staff at The Old Vicarage have helped her to make the adjustment. I am confident that Mum is well looked after. She's settled now and doesn't want to move. She interacts with the other residents and staff. I'm so grateful to The Old Vicarage for the way they look after Mum. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone who is considering residential care for themselves or a loved one.
She is encouraged to do as much as possible for herself, which uses her time and keeps her brain and faculties alive. All the staff are infinitely patient and everything is done at a speed she can handle, both mentally and physically. She delights in the beautifully kept garden and adores her scrabble sessions - both 1:1 and in the day room.
Covid-free throughout the pandemic, visiting is not as informally easy as it used to be, but we are able to visit her as much as possible - and the dog is always welcome, which is a real anchor for her.
The staff retention record alone is a testament to the quality of management, which is always open, accessible and responsive.
My wife and I visited several local residential homes on our friend's behalf but The Old Vicarage stood out as being perfect and we had no hesitation in recommending the home.
The resident has settled in very well and has found the management and staff to be very kind, caring and efficient. She has a very pleasant double aspect room in which she takes all her meals and has made it as homely as possible. The food is very good with excellent choice and she has gradually got to know many of the other residents and now takes a full part in the activities and outings arranged.
She is happy and very well cared for and now in much better health, due to that care.
I have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vicarage.
The care staff are kind and friendly and also the food is good. Very clean.
A lovely, old-fashioned place that retains many original features. The staff are nice and friendly. The food is excellent and cooked in the kitchen at the home. (Lovely main meals and home-cooked cakes etc). The activities are good and all the residents can join in if they want to enjoy themselves. Exercises and listening to music, for example. The rooms are a nice size and I have a lot of my own furniture here.
Lovely, sunny room. The staff were kind and helpful and the food was excellent. I was very well looked after in a pleasant room. The bed was a bit firm for me but otherwise, I enjoyed my stay here.
I have been arranging my husband's regular respite stays at the Old Vicarage for well over a year, following extensive research. Everything about the Old Vicarage which persuaded me that this would be where he would be most happy and comfortable have been proven spot on and in many cases exceeded. On our first visit, we both felt immediately at home and truly cared for by the manager and staff. Since then, we have been nothing but impressed by the stable management with an experienced staff of long-standing, rather than frequent changes of personnel as in some care homes. The attention to detail in communications with myself as well as in my husband's care, the imaginative range of activities, the quality of the food, the lovely garden and village setting, and the fact that this is an old building of character rather than an impersonal, characterless custom built home. My husband loves going and being there and always arrives and leaves with a smile, looking forward to the next time.
Dad went to the Old Vicarage in June from hospital after having had a stroke. He was made to feel welcome from the start and quickly settled in. Dad loves to walk and sit in the beautiful gardens, and he loves the home cooked food, often telling me what he has had to eat and the choices on the menu. Dad has joined in the activities at the care home and has rediscovered some artistic talents that I did not realise he had. The staff are wonderful in all aspects of his care, and I thoroughly recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.
My mum has been at The Old Vicarage for 18 months and I can honestly say her care has been excellent. The staff are kind and always have time to explain things. Mum really enjoys the food provided, the home and gardens are beautiful and I couldn't wish for a better place for her to be. Many thanks.
