Sydenham House

She liked it very much, everyone was very helpful, and Mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay.

My sister-in-law has been at Sydenham House for around four years and has always been happy and contented. She gets on well with the members of staff who must have had a difficult time throughout the pandemic. We have also found the manager very helpful should any problems arise.

The level of care given to Grandma has been fantastic. We have currently extended her stay to provide the family more time to organise long term plans, and the care team have been super helpful! Grandma is doing so well in their care. She’s been encouraged to join in activities and eat with the residents in the lounge if she wants to. It’s so lovely for the family to know she’s getting on so well and getting the chance to socialise again on a regular basis.

I am always made to feel welcome when visiting my mum at Sydenham House. Mum is always clean and tidy and in good spirits. She especially enjoys telling me about the baking she helps with. The staff always try their best to respond to any queries that I have.

The staff at Sydenham House go above and beyond the care for the residents. Always helpful and try to answer any questions I have regarding my dear friend.

My aunt has been a resident now for some 30months, and throughout that time, she has always had nothing but praise for the staff, food and the general treatment she has received. My aunt likes to keep herself to herself by remaining in her room with her super wide and frequently (if not always) very loud television, she does love her sport as well as her quiz programmes.

All the staff have her best interests at heart and know and welcome her foibles, but providing she gets her food and drink along with her little treats she is a dream to be with, albeit that you have to spend your time shouting as loud as you can to make her understand.

I am her closest relative who lives over a hundred miles away, so my visits are few and far between. I am totally reliant on the staff taking note of any abnormalities in my aunt's wellbeing and or wishes, then keeping me informed as to any actions I may need to take, from topping up the sweets supply etc.

Mum is currently staying for respite. She has settled in well with very good support from the staff. Due to current restrictions, I visit once a week and also speak to Mum on the phone. She is always happy and talks about the lovely meals and food. She says all the staff are kind and helpful.

Although I haven't visited my sister for over a year due to the pandemic, I am confident in the knowledge that she is being well cared for. I have always found the management and staff to be very pleasant and helpful with any requests or problems, and I have great respect for them all.

A wonderful place, clean and safe, and staff treat the resident like family. The staff in my mind are unsung heroes of these hard and difficult times. I cannot thank them enough for caring for my loved one.

He had excellent care for the 15-months he lived at Sydenham House. He was unsure about moving in a first, but was made very welcome and soon settled down, helped greatly by caring and friendly staff. He enjoyed the good food, especially for special occasions, such as Harvest Supper and Christmas. As his mobility declined, you helped him very patiently and kindly allowing him to stay on until nursing care became necessary. Thank you!

Felt like I had been on a beautiful holiday. I was looked after well.

I am very pleased with the care my mother is currently receiving. The home and the staff are more positive since the arrival of the new Registered Manager last September. My mother's health was not the best it could have been, Since the arrival of the new manager my concerns were looked into and the manager ensured she had the necessary care.

It is very reassuring to know that my mum is looked after so well.

Mum hasn't been there long in for respite but very impressed in what we have experienced. The staff all seem happy in their work. Very helpful. Seems such a lovely place can't fault it at all.

My father is extremely happy residing at Sydenham House. Myself and my family are impressed at the genuine care and attention that my dad receives from the staff and carers. It is clear to see that his health, hygiene, safety and well being is a priority as it is with all residents! I feel relaxed and happy that he's being professionally cared for 24/7.

The care given to my mother-in-law b the staff is exemplary, they all are attentive and caring. The premises are clean, warm and welcoming. The management are extremely good, they keep us informed of any situation that concerns Mum. We would recommend this establishment as the best in the area. If any more money were to be available then this place deserves it. As a family it takes away stress from the family as we know Mum is in safe hands.

Unfortunately, their time at Sydenham House was quite short but I know that they were safe, well fed and looked after.

My uncle is well cared for. He is in a safe and friendly environment. The staff take time to "chat" to him which is greatly appreciated. His room with ensuite shower room, is always clean and warm.

When viewing the home with my brother when mum had to go into care first, we noticed how bright and clean the home was and how fresh it smelt. All the chairs were comfy and the residents weren't all sat around in a circle, instead chairs were placed in several seating areas around the home both up and downstairs. Mum has been there for 7 and a half years now. The home has been refurbished and redecorated to a high standard. The butterflies on the walls are a lovely touch. Staff are always friendly, always very approachable and treat residents with dignity. Activities for residents are varied, entertainment well provided, there's always something going on. The mats as you go in the door reads "staff work in the residents home, not residents live in staff workplace". A lovely sentiment and testimony to all, led by a good manager that is passionate and caring. Well done everyone!!
