My Aunt lived at The Towans for 3 years and was very happy there. She was quite difficult to deal with and they had endless patience which was incredible to see. Although she couldn't talk or type to say what she wanted, they made every effort to work out what she wanted and needed, things that probably Sherlock Holmes and Watson wouldn't be able to work out, but they always seemed to get there in the end! When she became really ill and bed bound they were so caring, she would still have her hair done and her nails painted. They treated her with such respect. Quite a few members of staff would make an effort to spend time with her and sit in bed with her watching TV etc. I cannot praise them highly enough. My Aunt has now died and the family know that she could not have been cared for more, or looked after better than by the outstandingly lovely staff at The Towans and that was a great comfort to the family. My Aunt was lucky to have gone to the Towans, it felt like home.

I have tried several times to respond to this wonderful, heart felt review... it's taken me a while. There are times when the pride of what my family has created at Towans is almost too big to put into words. Watching our team love and care for your dear Aunt was one of them; the personal time...

The staff have been very attentive since Dad's eyesight has declined, and his strength declining. They were very quick to respond with incidents regarding slips and falls and have suggested using a falls detection light which keeps him safe and independent for as long as possible.
Communication is always very swift when occasions arise, with clear explanations of what has happened.

I would recommend the Care Home very highly and the staff are always very polite, helpful and understanding.

After a lot of research and visits to many homes, nothing matched the homeliness, attention to detail and overall kindness of the staff at the Towans. My mum had a couple of weeks of respite at the Towans, and another care home closer to where my sister lives, during the year prior to her choosing the Towans for her permanent residential care. Three months later and there are no regrets, she feels that the Towans is her home, rather than her being a resident of a care home. At 96 she is still mobile and is able to go outside into the tranquil gardens or join in with activities in the sitting room. It is the simple things that make such a difference, such as she likes her toast and marmalade before her cornflakes, the milk for which is served in a little jug so that the cornflakes don't get soggy. The staff are always friendly and went out of their way to help both mum and me during the transition period.

What can we say to this, such a thoughtful review that really makes doing what we do worth while. The recognition for the little things as well s the big things is really appreciated, we often say the little things matter hugely.

It is a pleasure and something I am very proud of to be able to...

My mother received exceptional care and support throughout her stay. Staff were attentive to her individual needs and always treated her with kindness, dignity, and respect. They promptly identified changes in her medical condition, acted quickly, and kept our family fully informed, which was greatly reassuring.
The home had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure both my mother and our family felt supported and cared for.
My mother enjoyed the activities, especially bingo, which she loved winning! She also enjoyed spending time in the conservatory reading or playing games on her phone, and staff were always happy to help with any technical issues.

We are truly grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and dedication shown by all the staff.

This home is run by an excellent team and never had a problems. My husband loves going there. He thinks it's his job and the staff treat him with respect. Always helpful and smiling. The activities is a wonderful addition to the care and they have a mixture of things to do. You can either join in or not no pressure. You can always seek a member of staff who are very approachable if you want to ask anything and the general atmosphere is calming and caring.

My father has been at The Towans for 5 years and I cannot fault the care he has received. His health has declined over the course of this year and the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure his comfort and safety. I cannot recommend The Towans highly enough, the home has a great atmosphere, it is a genuine home from home.

Not hot water in wash basin. A friend phoned with a message not passed on to me. Additional care charged £50 extra, why? As I did my own medication creamed my legs and put on and off my compression socks, only had help with showers and night visits. When in louge for activity group making food pots, chiropodist came in and did toe nail cutting and foot care not very suitable. Paid for 1 week £1450 + £50 extra.

We chose The Towans for our mother to have 2 weeks respite after a hip replacement. The staff were very helpful and patient with her, even though she didn't want to mix with others. We agreed a plan of action to help her recovery, and with their care and help we managed to keep her safe and physically she has recovered well. Definately recommend this home 'from home' for anyone.

Leaving her birth place, friends and home of over 50 years to relocate to a care home was the hardest decision for Mum and for me. The Towans was recommended by a close friend and in August Mum came for respite care, with a view to staying long term.
From the minute we walked in, we both felt a huge sense of relief. The atmosphere at Towans is warm and welcoming, the staff are caring and respectful, going to great lengths to get to know the residents and what is important to them. We were very impressed with the cleanliness, food, stunning house / garden and quality of the furnishings. Three months in, these impressions are absolutely reinforced. Mum isnt great at mixing but loves her weekly tai chi session and musical entertainment with gentle encouragement but no pressure from the Activities Manager.

She is really settled and happy and has even started to call it " home". We cannot thank the staff and management enough for all their care and kindness over and above the call of duty.

My husband started attending the Towans care home, for day care last year. It is a beautiful home which is set in its own grounds and is close to the sea.

It is a home in the true sence of the word, having a very friendly and warm atmosphere. The staff are extremely dedicated to the residents, caring and respectful. They provide tailord care, support and encouragement to suit each residents individual needs, which I have found goes over and beyond, exceeding any expectation.

There is a wide range of exceptionally well planned activities each day, providing stimulation, interaction and much laughter. This includes singers, musicians and much more.

Meals are varied, tasty and prepared to a high standard.

The Towans provides outstanding care and support for both residents and their family's.

I have found it so reasuring to know that my husband is in such safe hands and can't thank you enough for all you do. I have no hesitation in "highly recommending" the Towans to to others.

Following cancer treatment to my husband and myself having a replacement hip surgery we came to the Towans for respite care. This was an extremely good decision. The home was so welcoming. Every member of staff was kind caring and considerate, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, well cooked and presented. The general appearance cleanliness and decoration were perfect. Some Five months ago I started attending The Towans Care Home, for respite care, once or twice a week. I feel that the staff have been excellent in understanding my needs, and make me feel very welcome and safe in their hands. They are approachable and nothing is too much trouble for them. They work very well together to support the residents and make us feel part of a family. The Towan's activities are quite outstanding and very well organised. We do various activities such as Tai Chi, entertaining games, like Name That Tune, and Musical Bingo. We have visiting singers and musicians, also Alpacas and Owls have come to see us, which is very interesting. The food is excellent, very well cooked and varied. I never expected everything to turn out so well and it certainly has opened my eyes. I've been, able to make new friends and attending The Towans has enriched my quality of life. I have no hesitation, whatsoever in recommending The Towans to anyone.

My mother moved into The Towans, for 2 weeks respite care, in November 2024, following a couple of falls in her home. The respite care was quickly converted to permanent residency as we were delighted with the home and care received. The staff are amazing. So kind, caring and cheerful. They are very dedicated to the residents, helping them to live their best lives, in their remaining years. My mother hadn't wanted to move into care, but she was soon won over. She can't fault the care received. The food is excellent. Great choice for each meal with sensible, tempting portions. My mother had become quite isolated at home, seeing only her daily carers and occasional friends and family. She is now taking part in most of the activities. She enjoys the company of the other residents and has made some very nice friends. She even tried knitting recently, something she hadn't done for about 30 years. We couldn't praise The Towans highly enough. It's a wonderful home with superb staff.

My mum has been at The Towens Care Home for almost a year now. The change in her is wonderful to see. She is happier healthier and a lot more social. I can't praise the care staff enough for the first-class care they give to Mum. My mum has been in The Towans for around 4 years now and is extremely happy there and far more outgoing and social than she has been for years. This is due to the amazing staff who are always friendly and helpful. There are loads of different and imaginative activities that she enjoys taking part in.
