The Towans care home is located on the coast in Burnham on Sea, Somerset, with many of the rooms having sea views.

The home cares for up to 28 people and residents are encouraged to bring personal possessions such as pictures and mementos to make them feel at home.

There are two lounges where residents can socialise as well as a conservatory which looks out onto the garden which is full of shrubs and flowers. In addition, there is a 'bistro-style' dining room where residents can chat and eat.

Nutrition is an important part of life at The Towans and residents are given fresh home-cooked food. Snacks and hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day.

My husband started attending the Towans care home, for day care last year. It is a beautiful home which is set in its own grounds and is close to the sea.


It is a home in the true sence of the word, having a very friendly and warm atmosphere. The staff are extremely dedicated to the residents,

caring and respectful. They provide tailord care, support and encouragement to suit each residents individual needs, which I have found goes over and beyond, exceeding any expectation.


There is a wide range of exceptionally well planned activities each day, providing stimulation, interaction and much laughter. This includes singers, musicians and much more.


Meals are varied, tasty and prepared to a high standard.


The Towans provides outstanding care and support for both residents and their family's.


I have found it so reasuring to know that my husband is in such safe hands and can't thank you enough for all you do. I have no hesitation in "highly recommending" the Towans to to others.

Following cancer treatment to my husband and myself having a replacement hip surgery we came to the Towans for respite care. This was an extremely good decision. The home was so welcoming. Every member of staff was kind caring and considerate, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, well
cooked and presented. The general appearance cleanliness and decoration were perfect. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Towans to anyone needing respite or full time care. Thank you everyone.

My mother has been a resident at the Towans for eighten months and the care she has received has been exceptional. The staff are all friendly, professional and genuinely care about the welfare of the residents. Everyone is encouraged to get involved in the many activities available and a wonderful family

Have been in care after a second hip operation and the quality and professionalism given here have exceeded all expectations. I cannot speak highly enough of each individual working here. I would recommend it to anyone. The Towans the help with recovery or to anyone who needs to come in as a resident.
Am very grateful to each on here. They treat each one in their care as special.

Some Five months ago I started attending The Towans Care Home, for respite care, once or twice a week. I feel that the staff have been excellent in understanding my needs, and make me feel very welcome and safe in their hands. They are approachable and nothing is too much trouble for them. They work
very well together to support the residents and make us feel part of a family. The Towan's activities are quite outstanding and very well organised. We do various activities such as Tai Chi, entertaining games, like Name That Tune, and Musical Bingo. We have visiting singers and musicians, also Alpacas and Owls have come to see us, which is very interesting. The food is excellent, very well cooked and varied. I never expected everything to turn out so well and it certainly has opened my eyes. I've been, able to make new friends and attending The Towans has enriched my quality of life. I have no hesitation, whatsoever in recommending The Towans to anyone.

My mother moved into The Towans, for 2 weeks respite care, in November 2024, following a couple of falls in her home. The respite care was quickly converted to permanent residency as we were delighted with the home and care received. The staff are amazing. So kind, caring and cheerful. They are very
dedicated to the residents, helping them to live their best lives, in their remaining years. My mother hadn't wanted to move into care, but she was soon won over. She can't fault the care received. The food is excellent. Great choice for each meal with sensible, tempting portions. My mother had become quite isolated at home, seeing only her daily carers and occasional friends and family. She is now taking part in most of the activities. She enjoys the company of the other residents and has made some very nice friends. She even tried knitting recently, something she hadn't done for about 30 years. We couldn't praise The Towans highly enough. It's a wonderful home with superb staff.

My mum has been at The Towens Care Home for almost a year now. The change in her is wonderful to see. She is happier healthier and a lot more social. I can't praise the care staff enough for the first-class care they give to Mum. The towens always have activities each day for the residents to take part
in which Mum loves and she's always looking forward to meal times as she tells me the food is lovely. I really can't fault the excellent care she receives.

I have visited friends at this residential home many times. All the residents seem happy and are well cared for. They have interesting activities every afternoon and numerous entertainers are invited to the home to entertain the residents. The staff there appear to me to be very caring.

After coming here for rehab after an operation I was treated very well and the care and exercises were carried out daily. The food was excellent and all staff were very friendly and helpful.

My mum has been in The Towans for around 4 years now and is extremely happy there and far more outgoing and social than she has been for years. This is due to the amazing staff who are always friendly and helpful. There are loads of different and imaginative activities that she enjoys taking part in.
The building and grounds are beautiful, and Mum has a lovely light room. It is good to know that she is safe, happy and well looked after.

The Towans is lovely. It really feels like 'home' and my aunt is very happy there. All of the staff are absolutely fantastic, they are all so kind and patient - every single one of them. I cannot praise them all highly enough. The effort put into making the residents happy is lovely, there are musical
afternoons, games, quizzes and armchair exercise classes to name but a few. My aunt has been there for a year now but when she first went in she was really struggling at home and looked terrible, ill and grey, but within a month of being at The Towans she looked so much better, putting on weight and rosy cheeks, it really transformed her life. The peace of mind knowing that she is in safe hands is such a relief! I think it is wonderful! I don't think even Sherlock Holmes could find somewhere better!

Everything about my mother's stay in the Towans has been superb. She was very anxious when she arrived but the commitment of the staff quickly eased her initial fears. Throughout her stay she has been well looked after and staff go out of their way to ensure her needs are met. I would have no hesitation

The Towans itself is a lovely, mature building with a warm homely traditional vibe. This together with an amazing body of staff makes it a perfect place for my mum who has been a resident for almost two years. Over this time Mum has had two stays in hospital. The staff worked hard on both occasions
to get her back to The Towans as soon as possible so that they could ensure her recovery. On every visit or on any time I collect Mum and return her, she is welcomed back with a lovely greeting and she always smiles and seems to be relieved to be back. There is always something going on and the constantly updated social media page backs this up! Lovely photos of all the activities from music and exercise to live singers and dancing. The activities organiser does a fantastic job. I have a lot of contact with one particular member of staff who has been an amazing support to Mum and myself throughout the change from Mum living with us to now living at the Towans. I highly recommend the Towans.

So pleased with the way everyone at The Towans has taken care of my aunt since she moved in 3 months ago. There's been a lot of changes in her life - from living independently, and driving just months ago, to now surrendering her full-time care to these people, and I can honestly say the team have
worked hard to help her adjust, fit in and feel part of their family. One staff member in particular and her team have gone above and beyond what we could have expected any care home to do and have done it all with a smile and exceptionally good grace. We cannot fault them, and the care given has been perfectly tailored to providing my aunt with everything to adjust to this new phase of her life. I completely recommend The Towans, and the staff member mentioned previously is the glue that keeps everything running smoothly. she is a pure gem and cares deeply for each resident - which is so reassuring. Thank you for all you've done, it's lifted a weight off our minds to know how well she is taken care of - I'd give you 6 stars if I could!

My mum has been a resident at The Towans for 16 months now. She enjoys living there, has a lovely sea view room and the company of other residents when she wants that. Mum was unable to continue living alone in her supported bungalow and The Towans was the obvious place for both her and us, living close
by. The staff are amazingly friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. If a problem arises, they are quick to deal with it, keeping me informed at all times which has been my request. The afternoon activities are interesting and varied. I've been to several of them and thoroughly enjoyed seeing residents getting involved, being encouraged to be active and engage according to their ability. The activities coordinator comes up with such a varied programme, always interesting and unusual! I enjoy visiting Mum, who is now 97. Certainly, she's flourished since being at The Towans. Food is plentiful and of a high standard. I highly recommend it!

The Towans is an amazing care home, the staff are very caring and always go out of their way to make the individuals they look after happy and content. Towans has fantastic activities in the morning and afternoon, going the extra mile to incorporate different skills to maintain individuals' mobility
and maintain active minds. Spending time and encouraging them to engage and remain active. Staff spend time with individuals in their rooms or in the communal areas in morning and evening after the fun and games that occur after lunch in activities. The staff are jolly and the atmosphere of the care home is welcoming and bright. Nothing is too much for the staff and each department are always willing to help when asked. The care the individuals receive shines through as they all look well and cared for. They strive to give choice and adapt to the individuals' own routine and encourage them to share their wishes and wants so Towans can provide personalised care.

I really cannot rate the Towans highly enough. 5* doesn't do it justice. My Mum was a resident of The Towans for 3 years before passing away today. Whilst Mum was in hospital they pushed out all the stops to help get her back Home to the Towans for end-of-life care. Oxygen was ordered, the room rearranged,
the bed sorted etc. When Mum passed away she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. They have been kindness itself to me and our family. Really nothing is too much trouble. Finding Mum a place at The Towans is one of thd best decisions I made. A full and varied menu and activities everyday arranged. The whole team are fantastic. Thank you isn't enough.

My mother enjoys her days at The Towans for respite care. All the staff are welcoming and always smiling. There is a wide range of daily activities, such as musical bingo, gentle exercises and visits from external entertainers. Special events such as Burns Night are also celebrated throughout the year.
Residents seem happy and enjoy each other's company.

My mother has been living at The Towans for about two and a half years now. Over that time her health has declined and her needs have increased. However, the amazing staff always treat her with kindness, respect and humour. They know her well and are able to get the best out of her every day. Mum always
looks clean and well groomed, she knows that the staff really care about her.

We visited The Towans Residential Home, Berrow Road, Burnham on Sea with a view to finding a good residential home for my stepfather moving there. We found the manager and staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The home is set in beautiful surroundings and the home has a homely, cosy feel. We would

I have been at Towans for 10 years where I started as an apprentice and worked up into Management after gaining my Level 5. The best part is being able to care for so many individuals and give back to them as they have all their lives. I enjoy working with all team members and feel like I have grown up in Towans. Towans staff, residents and families become part of the Towans Team being included in the daily running of the Towans.


I try to be a problem solver and feel part of my new role recently is supporting the Families and residents alike but always being at hand for staff and any situations that arise to deal with appropriately and swiftly.
