Stainsbridge House offer a safe and supportive environment for older people with dementias such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Parkinson’s disease. They offer day care (full days and half days), short breaks (often while family carers are on holiday) and, of course, permanent care.

Staff receive specialist training to care for the people who live with them and they tailor support and service to suit each individual's needs. All bedrooms have televisions, telephones, emergency call points and en-suite facilities most with showers. They have ample parking and a beautiful landscaped garden with a patio and views over the River Avon.

They place great emphasis on catering and provide individually for each resident’s needs and the activities team coordinates meaningful activity within the home 7 days a week.

My wife has been a resident of Stainsbridge for two and a half years due to an advanced stage of dementia. She is very well cared for by the home. She is always clean, clothes are clean and she is well fed. She needs two nurses to hoist her out of bed, wash, shower and toilet, a nurse to feed her, etc.
She is very confused, often speaks gibberish, thinks I am her father, all very sad from the lovely girl I married 41 years ago. I love her very much.

My brother has been a resident for two and a half years.
He was made welcome and comfortable from the beginning and always said how kind and caring the staff are.
He stayed for a week and was happy to move in the room straight away.
He was impressed with the cleanliness of the room, enjoyed the quality
and variety of the meals and always remarked how kind all the staff were.
Since the deterioration of his dementia, I am impressed with his constant care.

My mother suffers from dementia. She has a replaced hip but is unable to walk more than a step or two without full support. She has always been treated with great respect, care and kindness. I am particularly grateful to the understanding staff and especially the manager of this home when my mother
became ill and was hospitalised for a few days. They welcomed her back very quickly and even though she requires more help and care now, she has been encouraged and loved and is still smiling and feisty.

Excellent food and staff. The home is always clean and it feels more like a hotel than a care home. The owner is friendly, polite and responsible. The members of the staff are caring and polite. The activities are excellent. Beautiful garden! If I had Dementia I wouldn't mind living there.

Just want to say a big thank you to Stainsbridge staff - you do a wonderful job of caring for my mum. You are patient, caring and efficient. I've met many of the staff and all of you have been great with mum. I was particularly impressed with what you did to get her out of hospital after her fractured
hip. Mum seems pretty content when I see her, particularly recently. I know that she can be quite a handful at times - feisty and combative! But you cope with all that. She certainly seems to enjoy the food. She gets great hair-dos. She clearly enjoys the sweetie trolley. All in all, I get the impression of a very well run/managed place, with great staff. So glad to have mum somewhere where she seems content and is so well looked after. THANK YOU!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.393)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.393) out of 10 for Stainsbridge House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.618 for Stainsbridge House is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.618
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stainsbridge House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
