I live in the USA and have been unable to visit my mom for 2 years. When I visited ber in October, on entering Kerria Court, I was very pleasantly greeted by the ambience - decor brightness and the warmth of, not just the home, but every staff I interacted with.
When she 1st moved into Kerria Court,
Mom asked why she couldn't live with one of her children, now she says she wishes one of us could move in with her. That's a testament to the love, care and support of the Kerria Court team.

All my dealings with staff, from the manager to cleaning operatives, have always been positive. All staff are friendly and supportive. Communication is excellent: I feel I am well informed regarding my mother's care, health and well-being. All my queries have been acted upon in a timely manner. I believe
my mother is receiving the best care in the care home.

My husband has now been a resident in Kerria Court for four months. Since he has been there, he has settled very well and appears to be very happy.
This is due to the friendship and professionalism of the carers working there at the care home. The carers are very friendly, welcoming and caring, nothing
is too much every request for help or advice is always met with openness and kindness.

We used the service for respite care. The process was simple and the staff were extremely helpful. Our nan was happy and well taken care of and family members were able to visit.

Staff were happy to update us on how our nan was, which made the family feel comfortable.

We will definitely use

the service/care home again.
Thank you all.

Mum stayed for two weeks respite and I can't thank the home enough. They made the family feel at ease as it was Mum's first respite stay. Mum was well cared for and we will use this service again. Family popped in to see Mum and she was well presented and she was eating more than she did at home as
her appetite has increased. I am very happy.

My auntie has only been at Kerria Court for a couple of week, and we were really worried about her settling as she has always lived independently. After visiting her today, I could not believe how quickly she has settled. She told me she's really happy. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble.
They are so caring. The room is large and bright. Thank you for everything Kerria Court.

When I arrive Dad is always sitting in the common room with all the other residents. Dad is never on his own and never lonely, that's why my dad is in care, he has dementia and I didn't want him spending hours on his own without company. Dad is always spotlessly clean, well-fed and looks really well.
I can work knowing Dad is very well cared for. The staff are always very friendly and always welcome you at the door.

My mother has been in Kerria Court for just over 4 months and has settled down well thanks to the staff. Mum does know good food from 'alright', and says the food is excellent. Her flat is warm and has a large window, so is also nice and light. Mum is checked regularly, which has helped her to relax
- we are both happy with our choice of care home.

I have found the staff very informative and always have time to listen. Only downside is the visiting times, which seem very limited - only 6 slots during the whole day! Also, we are only allowed to see the resident in their own room, why not in the garden?
Management let me take my husband to any
hospital appointment, for which I much appreciate.
Reply from Amanda Gomez, Home Manager at Kerria CourtThank you for taking the time to review Kerria Court. We're pleased that you rate our overall standard as excellent and I will ensure that your feedback regarding our staff is passed on. In line with current government guidance, we need to ensure that the number of visitors at our home is fair for all residents and it is maintained at a level that keeps our residents and staff safe in terms of infection control. As the weather becomes colder or poor, we need ensure the wellbeing of our residents with visits. We would be happy to discuss this in more detail with you at a mutually convenient time.

Mum has been at Kerria Court for over 2 years now and is generally happy there. During the last year, her mobility has reduced greatly to the point where she is now entirely dependent on staff to move her around, even within her own room. This change in mobility, unfortunately, coincided with the first
Covid-19 Lockdown, which resulted in communication from Birmingham Council to the home and, more importantly, to Mum being very poor. With 2 staff members being needed to move her anywhere, then understandably she can occasionally wait a long time to move and leaves her feeling like she is a burden to the home. On a wider, more positive note, the home have been superb in keeping everyone safe, the home almost virus-free, and maintaining a very good service in the most extreme situation. Throughout these last 12 months, as a family, we have been grateful that so much care has been taken by all staff to keep themselves and residents safe.
Reply from Amanda Gomez, Manager at Kerria CourtWe greatly value your feedback and we are pleased that you rate our overall standard as very good. After what has been a very difficult year we are now moving forward in the home to make improvements to enhance our service further. The new menu based on residents' choices will be introduced as from 26th April and, although we must maintain a level of social distancing within the home, we have also introduced a new activity planner. Communication and access to external services from Birmingham City Council and the NHS have been extremely challenging but now, as restrictions ease, hopefully, this situation will improve.

During the Covid-19 pandemic I have been able to Skype my mum frequently, also I have visited with her periodically following the lockdown guidelines. If my mum is happy so am I.
The manager and her team are doing a fantastic job.
Special thanks to the staff for doing Mum's hair, this is very important
to her. Thank you to the rest of the team for caring, kind words, hard work and dedication - keep smiling.
Chef, my mum is loving food again. Thanks

Although still in a COVID-19 situation, I feel that all protection and communication where possible has been very much achieved by the home. Prior to secondary lockdown, when I visited and was able to see my sister for a garden appointment, everything was done correctly, which enabled me to feel very
happy after seeing her. I feel blessed to see her looked after and looking very well, all thanks to the staff at Kerria Court.

A superb facility. Staff are all professional and caring at all times, nothing is too much trouble. They go out of their way to provide activities for individual resident's to suit their requirements. The home doesn't just focus on the residents, but also the family members offering support and advice.
The food and accommodation are of excellent quality. Thank you, everyone.

The carers themselves are friendly and helpful. Mum is fortunate that she has full capacity and it has taken a while for Kerria Court to embrace this. We are concerned there is little stimulation for Mum, although we are pleased to hear those with full capacity will now be gathered together once a week
for lunch or tea. We have some concerns about the diet Mum is offered. She is diabetic (tablet controlled) and her medical blood sugar test results have worsened consistently since she moved to Kerria Court.
Reply from Amanda Gomez, Manager at Kerria CourtThank you for taking the time to review Kerria Court. We are pleased that you are likely to recommend our home. Diabetic options are available daily on the menu and we respect choices made by our customers. We will explore increasing the number of options available and the chef will review menu options with the customer. Staff highlight appropriate choices and offer advice to diabetics to promote and encourage a healthy diet. We are continuously reviewing our range of activities we offer on a daily basis and will ensure a timetable of planned activities is made available personally to customers as well as visual displays around the home. It was agreed at the recent relatives' meeting to increase communication sharing by using email direct to management and to provide more opportunities for relatives to meet together with management.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.569)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.569) out of 10 for Kerria Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.694 for Kerria Court is calculated as follows: ( (135 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 180 Ratings = 4.694
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kerria Court is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
