My mother has been in St Catherine's Residential Home for 15 months now. We are extremely pleased with the home, they all go above and beyond to take very good care of my mum and all the other residents there.
I have regular updates regarding mum, the staff are always pleasant and very helpful. I really couldn't

wish for my mum to be anywhere better this gives our family a lot of comfort knowing she is safe, warm, clean and most of all happy.

The staff at St Catherine's Residential Home have been consistent in providing professional and caring support for my cousin whose needs have increased significantly this year. They have adapted their care structure and obviously care about their residents.

Reply from Pearl Goss, Owner/Manager at St Catherine's Residential Home

Thank you so much for your kind, positive words. It has been very sad to see the decline in your cousin over the past few months. Our team definitely give their all to all our residents and significantly rises to any changing care needs required. Your cousin is loved dearly by our team. Thank you.

My Mom is so well looked after, cared for and genuinely loved at St Catherine's Residential Home.
Us as loved ones are always welcomed with a smile and a chat.
Communication from the management and staff to ourselves is excellent and they are always ready to listen to us.
There are daily activities to keep the residents occupied and they celebrate everything and I mean everything, Love it.
No one wants their loved one to need to go into care, but you will honestly feel they are at home here.
There is also a social media page that is updated daily with photos of the residents and activities/entertainment taken place that day.

I wanted the best for my Mom and I feel with St Catherine's, I get exactly that.

I can't speak highly enough of the staff at St Catherine's and the care they give to my mum. Mum has been a resident for several years and the staff are, without exception, professional, patient and caring at all times.

Reply from Pearl Goss, Owner/Manager at St Catherine's Residential Home

Thank you for such kind words about the care your mum is receiving. I know it has been a very emotional time with the loss of your father. We are all feeling the loss too. Your father was an amazing, caring, loving, devoted husband. Take care and thank you once again for your kind words.

My mom is a current resident of St Catherine's. She was supposed to be there for 7 days of respite care. We have been prevented from visiting our mom since her second day there, due to an apparent outbreak of gastroenteritis. On the day she was due to come home, St Catherine's prevented it, citing 'Safeguarding concerns'. I've now been prevented from visiting my mom for almost 2 weeks. My sister managed to see our mom the day after she was supposed to have come home, but it was a battle to persuade the manager to allow that. We have now been informed that our mom has contracted COVID. We, my mom's family, feel like she is being held hostage there.

However, on the two occasions I did visit most of the staff seemed lovely and looked like they were working hard to meet the care needs of the residents. But the lack of communication from the management team, together with their heavy-handed approach to our family has been a nightmare. We all really regret opting for 'respite' here.

Reply from Pearl Workman, Owner/Manager at St Catherine's Residential Home

We are extremely sorry that we had to be proactive in this case. We have a duty of care to all our residents, whether permanent or otherwise. We stand by the actions we took in this situation, raising a safeguarding with Social Services. This decision was not taken lightly, but in view of the...

My mum has just moved to St Catherine's having had a bad experience at a home. Despite the anxiety around moving, I can't express how wonderful the staff at St Catherine's are. From the moment she arrived, they have shown compassion and understanding and a desire to know her as a person. I can't thank them enough.

Reply from Pearl Goss, Owner/Manager at St Catherine's Residential Home

Thank you for those really kind words. Lovely to see mum settling so quickly. We do have a dedicated team, and they fully understand how difficult it is for both family and new residents, moving into a care home.

My grandad has been at St Catherine's for a couple of months now. The care he has received has been amazing. The staff are so caring and make sure Grandad is always happy. In fact, I've never seen him smile so much.
As a family, we love seeing the photos as we aren't able to visit frequently due to where we live.

I want to thank all the staff for their kindness and care.

I have no complaints about the care here. The home has vastly improved over the last two years following poor CQC inspections. The care staff put their heart and soul into looking after those in their care. The activities programme is very good and designed to meet the needs of those with dementia, the food is good.

My mom was here from September 2017 to July 2019 when she passed away. She was self-funding and in the time she was there fees rose in 2018 and 2019 by over 5% well above inflation and above other care homes in the area. You also need to know that this home charges post-death fees for a full month. Mom was charged £117/day for a full calendar month from the day after she died. Not all homes charge this, there is no legislation but guidelines suggest no more than ten days. Local authorities and NHS either refuse to pay any notice period or no more than three days. I think this is an unfair practice, check your contract before you sign it.

Not knowing much about residential homes before my wife had to enter one. I did not know what to expect. I found St Catherine's Residential Home a very friendly place and got to know my wife's carers pretty well. They are very polite, very patient with the residents and nothing seems to be too much trouble all in all I'm very satisfied with my wife's care.

St Catherines is, above all, a loving and caring home. Residents receive a high-quality experience, from the standard of rooms and facilities, the food, daily routine and care from the staff, who are dedicated, friendly and supportive in all matters and in all areas.

My mother has always had the most excellent care and support here, she would always greet her carers with a smile and always enjoyed her interactions with all of the staff and they with her.

She was always happy, comfortable and truly felt looked after and cared for. Thank you.
