As a daughter, my experience here at The Knowles has been exceptional. I can't fault anything. The staff are so understanding of the needs of my parents. I know when I leave after a visit my parents are content, happy and safe which makes me happy. Also, the activities (music etc) have made such a difference
to them both.

My mother has been at The Knowles for some 10 months now. I am wholly confident that her needs are met all the time. She often tells me so too. The staff are very friendly, helpful and always answer fully any questions I may have. Mum is very happy there and as a family, that gives us a great deal of
peace of mind. Nothing is too much trouble.

Would like to thank the Deputy Manager for the fantastic set-up she did for my parents on their anniversary. My dad was so happy and surprised. Mom has been at The Knowles less than a year, so it has been hard for him to adjust. It is expected she has the care and treated with dignity with dementia
as she lived when without dementia. Mom is settled although there were a few hiccups with other matters but this is slowly getting better. The Knowle would be lost without the Deputy Manager as you can always count on her.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the deputy manager and all the staff that put so much effort into Mother’s Day. The home was decorated beautifully - the tables in the dining rooms were decorated with balloons, flowers and beautiful table clothes - it was a credit to the deputy manager and
all the staff. The residents all seemed very happy, chatting and listening to relaxing music. This is our Mum's first Mother’s Day at the Knowles and the deputy manager and her team made it so, so lovely for my sister and I to join Mum for lunch - the food was excellent. Thank you to everyone involved.
Reply from Maree Leadbeater, Marketing Manager at The KnowlesThank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It was our pleasure to make this year's Mother's Day special for all our residents to celebrate with their children. We are so pleased to hear that your mum enjoyed the day along with the food and that you and your sister were able to join us for lunch. Thank you.

I just wanted to acknowledge the time, effort and thought the Knowles staff put in to creating such a very special Mother’s Day for all of the residents. It was clear to see they had all worked really hard to make the day very special for all - the dining tables looked absolutely beautiful - with so
much attention to detail and the atmosphere with everyone sitting down to lunch was vibrant, with lots of happy chatter and lovely background music. Mother’s Day is always very tough but the day was so special for so many - cannot thank you all enough.

Both of my parents became residents of The Knowles approximately 2 1/2 years ago and very quickly adjusted to residential living. They were very content with this change in their living conditions and adapted quickly. I have never heard my mother say anything negative about her day-to-day living and
she is in a much happier and contented frame of mind than I have witnessed in a long time. From what I have observed I would certainly recommend The Knowles.

Both my parents have been residents, sadly my father passed away. The care and compassion shown to my mother and the family have been excellent. The staff has supported my mum every step of the way. They have always ensured I am aware of any concerns they may have. During the last year during COVID,
they have where possible ensured visits are possible.

A massive thank you to the manager and staff who made my mums and other residents Mothers Day extra special. It has been a difficult year, so knowing my mum is looked after and cared for means so much. The room and table decorations were done lovely. I couldn't have done it better myself. The food looked
amazing, and my mum really enjoyed it. She had a laugh and a sing-along with the staff and other residents. Mothers Day is special, and that's exactly what you all made it; thank you.
I really like the use of the pod. Thank you all so much for your hard work and everything you all do.

This care home is amazing. My mum now has a new lease of life and the staff are wonderful, happy and get her up doing stuff whereas before she would sit in a chair every day doing nothing. It was her birthday and they did good, got cake and got dressed up and had music. She does the cooking, knitting
club and arts and crafts. Mum is so much happier now. The staff go above and beyond.
I’d rate this home 10/10, it’s really lovely. Keep up the good work, the manager and her team make this home so special. Well done everyone!

They are very attentive to the resident's needs. I have no regrets and am very happy that my parents are resident in this home. The staff
show exceptional kindness to the residents and are always pleasant and cheerful to residents and relatives. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for all the staff.

My Mum has only been at the home for a short time so have had a lot of questions to ask.
I have found the manager and all the staff lovely and however busy they are they always had time to talk to me and reassure me.
There is a lovely atmosphere around the place and I am happy I can come away knowing
they are doing their best for Mum and she is looked after.

When my Dad had to go into a home I was really worried and upset. As time has gone on and I come to see him a lot I have felt so much better about it. The staff are lovely and have done a great job welcoming him and looking after him. I know he is safe and that is most important to me.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.604)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.604) out of 10 for The Knowles is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.604 for The Knowles is calculated as follows: ( (265 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 351 Ratings = 4.604
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Knowles is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
