Had a bit of drama while visiting my Mother yesterday evening. Unusually when I went in to her room she wasn't sat on her bed or chair. She was actually in the bathroom and had locked the door. She was ok but had had an accident due to a stomach upset and was trying to clean any mess up. She did her best and was embarrassed to let anyone see what had happened. Long story short I asked Heman if he had a spare care worker spare to help clean the bathroom and help change my Mum's incontinence pad. Jessica came to help and was fantastic with my Mum. She managed to clean the bathroom and get my Mum cleaned and changed ready for bed without any drama. Jessica is a natural kind hearted care worker, who often go unrecognised for their work. If Jessica is representative of the rest of the staff then this care home deserves high praise. I always find Godiva a nice welcoming place to visit over the five years I have been going.

My mother has been a resident here for 2 years and our family could not be more grateful for the exceptional care she receives.
From the very beginning, the entire staff has treated her with genuine warmth, dignity, and compassion.
The team is incredibly attentive to her needs, ensuring she is always comfortable and well looked after. Even though the transition to a care home can be difficult, the carers have been patient, kind, and quick to form a warm, trusting bond with her.
The home maintains a peaceful, uplifting atmosphere with engaging things to do.
The meals are excellent, and her room is always kept clean, cozy, and secure.

As a family, we are constantly kept in the loop regarding her health, which gives us absolute peace of mind. Whenever I visit, I am made to feel welcome, and seeing my mother so well cared for is a huge comfort.

Really impressed with the home and the staff. Dad has settled in well and is happy. Food is all home cooked and family have the option of eating with the residents. Plenty of activities each day and a beautiful garden with plenty of seating. So good to have 'peace of mind' that dad is happy and well cared for. Can't fault the home to be honest.

My mother was reassigned to Godiva Lodge when her last care home closed in late 2025, despite the very short notice the transfer was smooth and the team at Godiva have been superb and welcoming. My mothers care is exemplary, physically she looks the best, regrettably her dementia inevitably progresses but the team at Godiva are compassionate and expertly look after her mental health needs as well as her physical.

I live about 4 hours away from Coventry so am unable to visit as frequently as I would like but the team at Godiva are great communicators and keep me updated. I trust the team at Godiva Lodge and feel reassured that my mother is in receipt of the best care 24/7.

We sadly lost our beautiful nan recently, after she spent 9 months living in Godiva Lodge. Those months were some of the happiest of her life, even while living with dementia. From the very first day, the staff didn't just care for Nan - they loved her. They treated her with kindness, patience and dignity, and they gave her so much joy. She wasn't always easy, but they embraced her for who she was and built the most special relationships with her. They also cared for us as her family, wrapping us in support and making us feel part of their family too. The events and special days they organised gave us precious time and memories with Nan that we will carry in our hearts forever. No words will ever be enough to thank them. The love, compassion and respect they show their residents is extraordinary, and we will be forever grateful to everyone at Godiva Lodge for the way they loved and cared for our Nan. Thank you.

Every member of staff I speak to is friendly, they do not appear under any stress or pressure, they are all very relaxed and good and happy. If I succumb to dementia in the future I would be more than happy if I was here in Godiva Lodge . It holds a special place in my heart. Once again I can't stress enough how good the staff are , they treat my father in law with respect, kindness and dignity .

Review from S F (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 14 July 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
My brother in law was admitted to Godiva Lodge during his stay there were a number of issues.
1. Poor communication - there were incidents that were not reported to us. His wife had called (by phone) to speak with the manager on a number of occasions and call back never happened.
2. My sister in law had to shower her husband on at least 2 occasions as he was unshaved and smelt.
3. He had infected cellulitis which resulted in a hospital admission (poorly managed).
4. He lost weight but there was no discussion regarding this.
5. Often when we visited he was wandering aimlessly and distressed. When we meet with the mental health nurse and a team leader the information required to discuss issues related to his behaviour was poorly recorded and the incident could not be adequately explained.
6. He was admitted to hospital, the hospital said he would be discharged and the home refused to have him back. We appreciate that this may not have been a suitable placement, however, there was no communication from the manager to inform the family of the next process.

7. We were told his bed would be held for 6 weeks while he was reassessed, this was not the case - the service did not contact the family to say his personal effects were being removed from the room. We are disappointed and this caused severe distress that could have been avoided.

My mother was well cared for in a friendly and caring environment. Staff were always very helpful and approachable. Mum was at Godiva Lodge for 3 years and she was settled and content. Her mobility improved enormously because she was encouraged to mobilise. I will miss visiting the home and seeing the staff.

My husband had a weeks stay to enable me to have respite from being his full time carer. He was extremely well cared for and staff remembered him from a previous stay last year. His dietary needs were well met and when I visited he was very content. I was made to feel welcome and staff were very respectful and caring towards residents and visitors.

I looked at several care homes in my area for my dear friend who has Alzheimer's and wasn't able to stay safe at home. Anchor Care Home proved to be the nicest in many ways. It has a very homely feel and all the staff are attentive and friendly. The four resident lounges are designed to a similar layout In most private homes. En-suite bedrooms are clean and comfortable. My friend is settled and happy in her new home.

Over the last year or so Godiva Lodge has provided my husband with a secure home.
Dementia is so cruel. When your loved one has dementia continuing with life for both of you can be so hard. Knowing what to do for the best, for them and yourself is very difficult. Staff at Godiva have helped so much with the necessary adaption. I know he is being looked after by specialists, in a kind, loving way.
Staff at Godiva are always at hand to make visitors feel part of the Godiva family. If asked, they will talk about the resident.
The atmosphere is pleasant, and various acts of kindness take place regularly
The Home is clean: no unpleasant smells prevail.
Food is excellent. Well balanced thought-out menus. (No excessive salt or additives). Residents can add these themselves if they request to do so.

Godiva Lodge is a Care Home which exceeds expectations.
