I truly appreciate the wonderful care you gave to my mum over the last two years.
The team built a lovely rapport with our family and we will never forget the wonderful surprise Diamond anniversary celebration

Staff have been great during my mum's end-of-life care, looking after the family with drinks, food, advice about care help, leaving us alone when needed and being available at all times. The care home is a decent standard.

The home is very friendly and seems to be very well run. We saw my brother getting his evening meal and it looked delicious. He has certainly put on weight since moving in. The staff seemed very interested in his welfare. The main concern for us is that our brother is happy, which he obviously is. Well

I am the daughter of someone who lives at Godiva lodge in Coventry. It was my mother and father's 48th anniversary today, 01/06/22, I phoned in advance to let the carers know we were coming and wow what a lovely surprise, the staff had decorated a room with a lovely table cloth and decorations on the
table, then came in with a trolly with beautiful cups and a teapot of tea. I cannot praise this care home enough as they always go the extra mile. My dad and I are eternally grateful for their love and devotion to my mum.

Not only were they amazing while our mum was a resident of Godiva Lodge, but when she was on end of life, not only did they deliver the best care for her, but supported the family also and made them feel welcome within the home 24/7 and nothing
was too much for them, even when they were really busy.

My husband went to Godiva for respite in November 2021, however as he was waiting for a permanent place this was able to be continued from December. He was so unsettled at home, and I was worried that he’d struggle to cope. How wrong was I! He was made to feel at home straight away, the staff all take
an interest in the person, not the disease! I was pleasantly surprised by how well he settled even though there were a few hiccups on the way. It was difficult during December with Covid restrictions, but the staff were amazing keeping the residents entertained and were always there on the end of the phone regardless. It’s such a relief to know how well he’s looked after and that he engages with the staff and the other residents and takes part in the activities he wants. Never seen him looking so physically well for years and that’s all credit to the staff, worth their weight in gold!

Our mum went to live at Godiva Lodge at the beginning of lockdown in 2020.
As you can imagine, as for many, this has been a very tough couple of years. The staff at Godiva have done a wonderful job of looking after Mum and keeping everyone safe. We know she is well cared for and loved.
It was her
90th birthday on the 4th of February and what can I say but what a fantastic response from Godiva. They cleaned and decorated a room which our family could enter without entering the home itself, further efforts to keep other residents safe, they provided food and a cake and gave Mum a gift of flowers.
We cannot say how much we appreciate their kindness, generosity and flexibility during these ongoing difficult times. Thank you so much to everyone there, we have memories to treasure on our mum's milestone birthday! Words seem a bit inadequate but we are so very grateful.

My mum has been a resident at Godiva Lodge since 27th September 2021, when her previous care home closed down. After looking at several care homes I chose Godiva Lodge and I'm so glad I did. She has a lovely, spacious room with her own private facilities, where the care staff help her with her personal
needs i.e. showering. Each time I see her she is smartly dressed - the staff have helped her choose colour coordinated clothes. Mum has gained weight since being at Godiva Lodge, which I'm not surprised at, as the food always looks lovely. Mum is very particular about her hair and has a weekly appointment at the hair salon within the home. There are regular activities, which the residents are encouraged to join in with. When I visit I am always made welcome and you never have to look for a care assistant. They are very "on the ball" and if there are any concerns, they don't wait for my next visit. They call me straight away. Well done to all at Godiva Lodge.

Mum has blossomed since coming to Godiva Lodge in October. She has made friends, joined in activities and has socialised more and her daily interactions have increased. Her memory is still poor but she appears to be more alert and lively with a better positive outlook. She enjoys the food and always
looks clean and well-groomed. I now have more peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well cared for, thank you.

Such an amazing place. My Mum had to be moved there during the COVID outbreak, we were not allowed to settle her in, but the staff have all been amazing and brilliant in their care of our Mum. She is really happy and put on weight, so good to see her like this, after a very upsetting time. A massive

Our mum has been cared for in Godiva Lodge for three years. She is so settled and she has a wonderful relationship with the Godiva staff, who bring a smile to her face. I know we feel reassured that she is well cared for and I know she definitely enjoys the food. During these strange times we are currently
living in I know we, like many of the other families, appreciate the hard work and dedicated care the team are providing. By putting the photo's/video's on of the activities that are going on in the home we can see our Mum, as well as the other residents who we have come to know over the years Mum has been there. The team continue to entertain with their videos with the Queen one just before VE day being an absolute legend. The residents look to really enjoy being part of these events. A big thank you to you all and thank you for putting things on social media so that we have that contact until we do get to see our loved ones again.

Godiva Lodge is warm, welcoming and bright to enter. The staff are caring and treat residents with kindness and understanding. My mum has been here for one year and this time last year was extremely stressful
I now have full confidence that my mum is well looked after.
Although her Dementia is slowly getting worse, her walking has improved a great deal. I am very pleased that despite what my mum may say to staff, they still
give her respect and meet her needs.

The number and frequency of activities have improved over the last year (the resident has been here for over three years).
Communication with family could be improved. For example, receiving a phone call from the hospital to say parent was ok and ready for collection which was the first I knew of the
fall?
The frequent changes of staff are confusing for us let alone the residents and causes inconsistencies.
The building is kept clean and tidy. The menu is varied and looks/smells tempting. Personally I object to the term 'customer' being used to describe residents it's very impersonal.

My husband has been in care for 13 months in that time he has excellent care by all the staff, carers and everyone that works in Godiva Lodge. They always show care and support for my husband's needs.
They are always friendly towards me on visits and available to discuss his care.
I often have meals
with my husband it's lovely to have a time of normality together at this stressful time. They are always supportive of my husband's needs.

All the staff go out of their way to be helpful and always have cheerful smile for residents, their family and friends.
The kitchen staff are always willing to meet any dietary needs and will explain any concerns that we may have regarding these.
My husband really enjoys the Friday music sessions
as do all the other residents by the look on their faces.
Would appreciate a weekly church service but know it is difficult to find people with the time to do this.

January 2019 I raised a number of concerns with Godiva Lodge. This was acknowledged in February and treated as a complaint by Anchor with a full response promised within 10 days. None has been received as at 17 July. Care has improved but is basic. She is fed, kept clean and safe. However, fundamentals
i.e. spectacles/hearing aids are rarely fitted when I visit. Three pairs of named spectacles and hearing aids went missing within 4 weeks of living there as well as other articles. There appears to be no lost property box. There is always a smell in her room. The sitting room is often unstaffed when I arrive or if staffed, they are fully immersed writing notes in a care plan rather than usefully interacting with the residents, though in the last few weeks there appears to be more organised activities. Woollen garments are stretched out of proportion in the laundry. I find the office/admin staff unapproachable when trying to find information. There is no liaison between staff and next of kin and I am not made aware of Mum's health or when a doctor has been called out to her. Entering and leaving the premises is unsatisfactory.

Outstanding care consistently over the 6 years my aunt has been there. Genuine kindness and thoughtfulness from the staff. They have always been sensitive to my aunt's likes and dislikes, and have made her so happy. She genuinely thinks of the staff as her family. I'm so grateful that she is in this
care home. As a retired staff nurse, I have seen a huge range of care homes, but never anywhere as good as this.
