As a family we have been very impressed with the care, empathy and understanding given to our unique situation.
Due to changing needs, we were unable to stick to timescales, and take up the room as planned, but the genuine compassion flexibility and kindness shown by the staff, particularly one member
of staff, has helped us greatly as we go through very challenging decisions.
Thank you for being so supportive and understanding.

Rooms have been refurbished to a good standard, but the bathroom is smaller, it would be improved with a concertina door. The shared toilets (2) are far apart, users can't always get there on time. However, they have en-suite rooms. The Centre would benefit from a second full-time cleaner as it's too
big of a job for one person, who has other roles. Physical activities could be improved with physio, ball throwing, boccia, balloons to improve and engage residents and help to improve their social skills and well-being. Value for money good compared to other facilities. Staff are so kind, caring and hardworking. A lovely team, friendly and receiving, all working towards the wellbeing of the residents. Victoria Mews Care Home has a lovely feeling of family and belonging. The new refurbishment has improved the feel of the home. Always a pleasure to visit, staff can't do enough and share information. The staff are exemplary, they all feel like family.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Victoria Mews Care Home

Thank you for your review and for your kind words, we value all feedback as this helps us to make improvements where required. Unfortunately, due to our ongoing refurbishment, we have had to tailor back on our wellbeing program to fit around the on-going works within the home. We are confident our activities will return to normal upon completion. We do have 5 communal bathrooms around the home however, with the refurbishment not all have been accessible, and we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

My mum entered Victoria Mews in September 2023 so has spent almost a year now with the team. I would like to put on record how pleased I and the family are with the experience provided for my mum. Staff at all levels could not be kinder or more helpful and nothing is too much trouble. It is clear that
care of residents is at the heart of what staff do on a daily basis. My mum is known and respected as an individual and her many needs - often emotional as well as physical - are being met despite some difficult times. Staff have kept me informed of everything and I feel I know them well as I am a regular visitor.

Mum has been at Victoria Mews for nearly two years now where she is part of their caring, professional and kind family. All staff are wonderful and well led by an amazing dedicated manager and senior team. Mum's journey is obviously changing, with all her needs met with kindness and great communication.
Nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Victoria Mews.

My mum was a resident at Victoria Mews for 5 and a half years until her death in February 2024. She spent her final years here very happily and was well cared for, with lots of activities to keep her occupied. The staff are all friendly, dedicated and helpful. They really get to know the residents and
their families and made us feel welcome. During Mum's final days they looked after us with drinks and sandwiches and their care for Mum was exemplary. The amazing staff make this a great care home. Thanks for everything.

My mother has been a resident at Victoria Mews Care Home in Coventry for over five years. She suffers from dementia. When she arrived she was very confused and anxious. The staff have worked hard to make her feel at home and she is now as content as she could be. We have had some good visits recently
and the staff appear to work well as a team, taking the time to talk with her and explain things so that she understands better. There appears to be genuine affection towards her. We live some distance away, so this assures us that she is well looked after.

My mum has been in Victoria Mews for almost three years. The staff always go above and beyond with any issues. Mum seems happy and content most of the time given she has ongoing health problems. The staff always make you feel welcome and there is always a happy atmosphere and great entertainment, which
Mum enjoys a lot. Mum's room has been made to look homely by the staff, so thank you for that. Always kept up to date with any problems. Keep up the good work and our family thank you all so very much for looking after our mum.

Mum appears to be happy and feels safe. Her general mood and response has improved since she came here to stay. The staff I have met all seem lovely and caring. She seems to be interacting well with other residents and enjoys the entertainment provider from outside the home.

The staff are very friendly. Mum seems happy and contented. I have definitely seen an improvement in my mum since she has been in the care home. I was surprised to hear that she has been socialising with other residents as she was never social when she was at home.

Mum has been living happily at Victoria Mews for many years. The home is warm and welcoming, nicely decorated and well-maintained. There are communal lounges for socialising, but also some lovely quiet and cosy corners as an alternative. The meals are varied and look appetising. Mum always leaves an
empty plate! But most importantly, it is the staff at Victoria Mews (manager, care teams and support staff), that really make it a home from home. Despite a difficult and challenging job, I have always known them to treat those they care for with kindness, compassion and respect. It gives us real peace of mind to know that Mum is happy, settled and so well cared for.

I will start by saying how very good Victoria Mews is, for me, having both parents in there. Staff are friendly, caring and so respectful of both parents. I feel very relaxed, knowing they are so very well cared for. I would recommend Victoria to everybody that's looking for somewhere to place their
parents. Five stars from me. Every single staff member is all golden and the manager does a great job.

Excellent care given to my mum for two and a half years. Lovely compassionate and caring people, kind and considerate and respectful. Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.615)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.615) out of 10 for Victoria Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.915 for Victoria Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.915
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria Mews Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
