I'm very happy with the level of service my mother gets. She can be difficult in her eating/drinking/toileting all of which my dad struggled with at home but the staff seem to have got my mum into a better frame of mind and encourage her to walk and do things for herself but help is there when she needs
it.
My mum's memory is a lot worse and she no longer remembers what meal content she has but I've asked others and they say the food is lovely which it does seem to be.
She is clean and happy. Does not want to leave there either so we are happy. Thanks to the staff.

Right from the beginning my aunt was looked after in a professional and personable way. The home is very well-run and maintained. The staff from the care assistants to the senior management are fabulous. The staff make it a very good place to live and my aunt is kept to a high-level standard of living.
Thank you to you all!

My mother-in-law moved into Ashbourne nearly 4 years ago, and I can't thank the staff enough for the care they gave. She moved there on a temporary move following a hospital stay and needing a bit of time before returning home. She made the decision to stay at Ashbourne saying they look after me well
and I like it there so I will stay. We have always found staff to be helpful and supportive and very friendly. The care they gave was excellent, the home was always clean, it may not be a fancy modern building but when you walk in there it felt like home.
Thank you all at Ashbourne you are a credit to your profession.

Dad moved into Ashbourne for respite after several falls and hospital stays. It was a difficult time as he had been independent up to that point. The staff are extremely caring, not only towards Dad but also to me as I was very worried about the move. Dad is well looked after and if he has to be in
care long-term we would certainly want him to remain at Ashbourne. He is treated as an individual and loved by the staff after only a short time there. The activities held at Ashbourne are brilliant, lots for residents to do. And the chicken dinners are wonderful so Dad tells me! I am comforted knowing my Dad is well looked after and feels safe.

My mom was a very independent lady who took time to settle into her new surroundings. After a few weeks, she settled in and was very happy at Ashbourne. The staff are very caring, loved mum, and always kept me fully informed regarding mum's health and wellbeing. The home is always clean and rooms are
always tidy. Staff and management are very well trained, it is more like a family home than a care home. All the staff should be congratulated on keeping residents, staff, and visitors safe during this Covid 19 pandemic. Food is excellent and residents' needs are always taken care of. Excellent care home.

Dads care is wonderful - can't fault it. He is very happy there and well looked after. All his needs are met, and the carers inform us of everything. During Covid, we had video calls from his carers to us, which made Dad happy.

Mom took a while to settle because she has always been independent. However, she now is settled and it helps that staff have taken the time to get to know her. Mom has a spacious room and it is good that she is able to sit outside on the patio. On the occasions when mom has been ill I'm kept fully informed.
Mom says the food is good.

From the first time we visited Ashbourne Care Home we found all of the staff to be very caring and most helpful. Their attention to detail is excellent. We found the home to be very clean and freshly decorated. We felt very reassured when we saw how well looked after our relative is. As a team, nothing
is too much trouble for the residents and for us as visitors. For anybody needing to place a relative into care, I would recommend a visit to Ashbourne Care Home to view the facilities and meet the staff.

What can I say about this care home except that it is absolutely wonderful. The staff go above and beyond and my mom has improved massively since going there. Their understanding of dealing with people with dementia is first class. Every single staff member is lovely and make you feel part of the extended
family. They do not rush you when you are visiting and answer all the questions you have without hesitation. Without the support of this wonderful home and its staff, I am not sure my mom would be here today. Thank you.

Wonderful care provided to my father during his time at Ashbourne. The staff are excellent with residents and family. They have been particularly excellent during lockdown with the things they have done to help Dad and us when we are missing visits. Although we visit regularly they still inform us and
keep us updated re doctor's visits. First class home.

We recommend Ashbourne Care Home to anyone wishing to ensure that their relatives are loved and cared for. We have always found that the staff are compassionate, caring and "go that extra mile" to ensure the residents are very well looked after. It has given us complete peace of mind and comfort to
know that our loved ones are receiving the best possible care. The home manager has always been very approachable, helpful and is always readily willing to go out of her way to assist. Both the manager and her team are doing a magnificent job, under extremely difficult and testing times.

My Dad has been at this care home for just over 2 years. The care he has received has been very good. After just a few months he was moved to a larger, more spacious room when one became available. The staff are attentive and resolve any issues or concerns immediately making sure to contact us and discuss.
Nothing has been too much trouble. Their Covid measures have been excellent. The staff have used their personal devices to ensure we could talk and FaceTime or Whatsapp with him. After a spell in hospital, the care he received was exceptional. I would recommend this home to others.

Since Mum has moved into Ashbourne Care Home she has had a new lease of life. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and the home is very well managed. As a family, we are always made welcome when we visit Mum. They have dealt with all the issues surrounding COVID-19 extremely well and made
sure that residents and families have been able to stay in contact without compromising the resident's safety. I wholeheartedly recommend Ashbourne Care Home.

Wonderful care provided by all the staff during these very challenging times. My mother required residential care following her discharge from hospital, during the lockdown. This was facilitated quickly and sympathetically by the Ashbourne team. Nothing was too much trouble for her carers and they had
endless patience. Mum particularly enjoyed the activities! Overall it was a positive experience for both my mother and her family.

I find the staff very caring and pleasant. They look after the residents really well but sometimes there are not enough of them, such as if there are people that need help to go to the toilet, they have to wait until someone is free. Old people can't wait! And more toilets are needed downstairs so they
don't have to queue.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.076)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.076) out of 10 for Ashbourne Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.176 for Ashbourne Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (123 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (20 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 227 Ratings = 4.176
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashbourne Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
