My mother has been extremely happy at Ganarew. Any deterioration has been hers, not the homes. She is treated with real kindness and has in the past been able to recognise this. She trusts the staff and recognises their benevolent attitude towards her. Her accommodation is pleasant and she has been fed well.

My sister-in-law has been at Ganarew for almost thirteen years and has been looked after exceptionally.

She has been well cared for in every way and is very happy there.

Ganarew House is a welcoming environment and staff and management are friendly, kind and approachable. There are some improvements that could be made, but overall I feel confident that Mum is safe and well cared for.

My 89-year-old mother has been at Ganarew House for approximately 5 months. She suffers from Alzheimer's and vascular dementia and mostly speaks Spanish. The staff have been very accommodating and empathetic in spite of the language difficulties. The ambience is jovial, warm and caring.

Have found carers very helpful. The care my mother gets is good and food is excellent. Possibly a bit more entertainment and trips out. Can't fault anything there. Very clean, showers regular. Staff lovely.

Overall Experience

As our mum deteriorates we have had to ask questions from the staff, for understanding the dementia process. All have been helpful and kind. Generally, anything that concerns us is responded to quickly and with a professional manner. Mum appears cared for and usually clean. However, despite all her clothes being named we do find her in someone else's trousers!

My experience with Ganarew Care Home has been very good, nice staff who have made a real effort of interacting with my aunt. The only complaint I really have is the amount it costs to keep my aunt in this establishment.

Generally very satisfied with care being given. Only on one occasion when I felt it was necessary to comment on my wife's appearance (hair).

Very impressed when told that visiting was not allowed during a tummy bug episode.

Overall standard, care and support of residents is good and in our presence when visiting, staff are friendly and treat residents with dignity. Bedrooms are clean and tidy albeit a little dated in décor, but always well presented. The premises are always secure and staff always check who we are visiting. Staff contact us immediately with any concerns or falls.

Review from L E (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 November 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The home was able to accommodate both my elderly parents at short notice and showed considerable understanding of their needs and personalities. Sadly my father was too unwell to enjoy the care he received and he died in hospital. My mother is now a permanent resident and declares that she is "very happy", she had gone from being a rather miserable uncooperative person (she has vascular dementia) to a cheerful and engaged individual. The staff are extremely caring and seem fond of her. I never imagined that she would agree to join in activities and go on outings! She also loves the food, relatively plain but wholesome, well suited to that generation.(however, I dare not tell her the cost! She thinks it's free!).

My Nan has now been at Ganarew House for 8 months.
It is still a hard time for the family but the staff at Ganarew have been so helpful and supportive.
They aren't just here to support our families, they are here to support us all.
My Nan has settled in well and has even made herself some friends which gives myself and my family a bit of 'peace of mind'.
She goes out on the home's mini-bus and really enjoys her outings.
I honestly wouldn't have her anywhere else.
The home, care and staff are outstanding.

Thank you, everyone.

I have worked for social services for the last 32 years and I have worked as a care assistant alongside nursing for physical disabilities and now I work in daycare so I think I am definitely experienced enough to say that I find the staff at Ganarew House to be caring, patient, understanding and totally professional in their daily interaction with my mum. As you can imagine it wasn't easy to leave my mum in the care of others - but when I go home, I know I have left her in their capable hands.

Dad initially went for respite care but now will be staying. He found the transition difficult but all the staff have been helpful and supportive.

Staff have been very understanding. They quickly got to know who my dad was as a person and not just another client.

All the staff are very caring and affectionate and make my relative feel special.
Her heath and hygiene have improved greatly, she now has a good diet and is given medication as needed.

Her quality of life is much better since moving to Ganarew.

My mother-in-law has lived at Ganarew for 2 years. In that time she has transformed from her past life of loneliness, isolation, confusion day and night, poor diet, no personal care, paranoia and all the symptoms of dementia, to having a life that has transformed her and is as independent as it can be.

She has constant company, care 24/7, amazing food, a safe environment and entertainment. She is so settled that she believes it's her workplace with the benefit of rooms. We can only thank the owners, managers and all staff for creating this outstanding place to live.

My husband has been a resident in Ganarew House for 3 1/2 years. At all times he is treated with the utmost kindness and care. The staff are exceptional I can't praise them too highly. From the manager to the carers, domestic and often staff members I have never received anything but politeness and great friendliness.
