I just wanted to give Braeburn Lodge a massive thumbs up for the love and care they provided to my step-mum. It feels like the wild-west out there in terms of who is providing what and at what price. We really landed on our feet with Braeburn. It is a small home, which gives it a really friendly feel.
There are constant trips out and activities and the staff are loving and part of the Braeburn family, and they make you, as a loved one feel part of that family. It is reassuring to see that the staff are not continually changing, so my step-mum got to build up a really good relationship with them.
I felt my step-mum was in really safe hands. The food was excellent and a lovely touch was everyone would eat their meals together around the dining table. I could turn up at any time and was always made to feel welcome. The building was clean and bright and everyone was immaculately dressed. Despite the challenges my step-mum had, they made her comfortable, safe, and made her laugh a lot.

All staff were excellent, very attentive and loving towards my partner. The entire home was kept immaculately clean. My partner was included in art projects and entertainment several times a week which she thoroughly enjoyed. The staff went over-and-above for any special occasions, which included birthdays,
Burns Night and Valentine's Day. The food was outstanding and I very much appreciated being invited to join the residents for a meal.

When Mum died last month she had been resident at Chatterwood for over 4 years. Based on our experience during that time we would confidently recommend Chatterwood to anyone seeking a safe, supportive and compassionate environment. The staff are professional and treat everyone including relatives
and friends with genuine kindness. They were all particularly lovely towards my Dad who visited Mum most days to sit by her bedside. It was a comfort to the family that he was received each today with such warmth and generosity, he will miss his visits greatly. Communication with the wider family was excellent - they kept us informed and were always willing to answer questions and address any concerns. Whilst all the staff were hugely supportive, we'd like to specifically highlight one exceptional member of staff who truly made a difference. It's rare to come across someone as heart warmingly lovely as Lianne, she consistently went above and beyond, offering assurance and comfort to us all.

Chatterwood House Nursing Home

My husband has terminal cancer and I was caring for him at home until his nursing needs meant that he required professional help. He has been in Chatterwood since 6th February. He is so content there. All the staff are welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much for them. My husband likes to
be left to listen to his music and watch his DVDs and he can do so there.
The nursing staff are wonderful and have time to answer any questions either he or I have. The care assistants are very good, always cheerful and never too busy to say hello. The room is kept beautifully clean. They kindly installed a recliner chair for him, similiar to the one he has at home, which is a god send.
When I wanted to take my husband home for a visit on Valentine's Day, the staff were wonderful in getting him ready and we could enjoy our hours together without being pressured to get back at a certain time..
I am able to visit when I and we have no complaints. It's a lovely place.

My mother has been at Castleford for 18 months and the level and quality of care she receives is outstanding. The staff are undoubtedly the biggest asset in this home and I now think of them as my mums second family, all of them go out of their way to ensure all her needs are met in a professional
yet compassionate manner. I feel she is surrounded by people who genuinely care about her and are reactive to any changes in her care needs. She is very well supported and extremely well fed as there is a great choice of food on offer. From a family perspective we are kept very well informed and they are very receptive to us visiting/calling when we want to. I am so glad we found Castleford as it has been an excellent choice for mum and I really don't know what we would have done without them.

Very friendly, attentive staff who do care!
Mother is very happy with all aspects of the home, from the attitude of the staff, the medical attention received, the cleanliness of both her room and common areas and the standard of food.
She particularly enjoys time in the lounge where she can interact
with both fellow residents and staff.

My mum is in her 90s and has been here for just over 3 years now for dementia nursing care. Nursing staff are good and don't change too often - communications with them have been good. Care assistants are very good and some have been here for a long time. The activities are varied and the activity staff
are excellent. My mum can't do too much now but she enjoys the singing activities and the visiting church service. They do also arrange outings which my mum enjoyed when she was able to participate.

My mum was taken in to chatterwood on the 21st January 2026. We had cared for her at home but she needed full time care. She was suffering with cancer of her mouth and was on palliative care. We all knew she had limited time left . On arriving at the home we were greeted with such a wonderful warm welcome
. Which put my mum at ease straight away, she knew that she wouldn't be coming back home and was very anxious about going into the home. The staff made my mum and us as a family feel very comfortable. They settled her in her room ( which we had chosen prior to my mum arriving) it was a lovely bright room and they had set it up as we had requested. Moving the bed and furniture into a more comfortable setting for my mum. I stayed with her for a few hours , then my sister came early evening. Little did we know but this was the last time we saw our mother. As we had a call around 2.15 am that our mother had passed away. We can't fault the care and attention my mum received. Thank you

From the moment we came through the door and every one welcome my mum, we knew from this beautiful greeting this care home were going to look after her in her final days excellently. It was a short stay for my mum but she felt very relaxed before she passed and how this was told to me was reassuring.
The staff were attentive, caring and just wonderful for mum and our family.

Thank you so much for you support in a time which was so difficult for our family.

The manager Jeanette was so warm, supportive and comforting. Thank you to her and all the staff even the house keeper who packed her things up with dignity and respect.

We chose Braeburn Lodge as this is a smaller care home and this would be a better setting for our grandfather. From our first meeting with questions, then queries by phone or email, these were addressed and we were reassured at each step.
Granpa loves it at Braeburn and all the staff. I've found the
staff are well attentive, the care and love they show to each resident is abundantly clear.
Braeburn arrange trips out to see the ducks or to stop for tea nearby. They have entertainment and exercises in the lounge area, these are appropriate for the capabilities of the residents. Updates on the activities are shared on their social media posts, these are a joy to see and Granpa clearly enjoying them.
The staff at Braeburn Lodge are brilliant. Highly recommend.

Breaburn is an exceptional care home with exceptional and caring staff.
The accommodation and bedrooms are to a very high standard - it really feels like a home.
The food is cooked from fresh and better than most local restaurants.
What makes Breaburn so unique is its size - with only 12 residents
- staff are able to provide personal care which they have done each day for Les over the last 19 months. He is so happy and settled and that is all we can ask for.
The staff also make us (family and friends) feel so very welcome - it is a joy to be there!
