This care home is exceedingly well-run by the manager who is always ready to listen to any concerns regarding the residents' welfare. What is important is the relaxed environment maintained by the staff and where visitors are always welcome. I am very happy that my brother is living here.
Dad has been at Milkwood since January 2025. He quickly settled. Carers at the home are excellent and there is very good communication between us and the team. Activities are well planned and engaging for the residents. Dad has always enjoyed the trips out in the minibus with Tash.
Thank you for your review, your comments are much appreciated. It is a pleasure to take care for your Dad.
My mother needed respite care a couple of years ago, and stayed in Milkwood for 6 weeks. When she needed a permanent facility earlier this year, Milkwood was the first place I wanted her to go. The staff are so kind and patient with her, despite her often awkward, dementia driven, behaviour, and will always try to distract her from sad moments. They clearly care for their residents and I love the amount of different activities they do. It gave me a big smile to see my mum dancing on TikTok!
Thank you for your review. We were glad to help Mum again when she needed it. Credit to our Activities team for their comprehensive activities schedule!
Fantastic care home. My mother is very well cared for in very way. Excellent staff, very clean and always very attentive. The mini bus is a great asset for getting the residents out and about. I would highly recommend to friends and family.
Thank you for your lovely review! We are very pleased to continue offering our outings to those who can manage them, and bring entertainment in for those who can't.
Engaging with everyone, happy and life for her has improved immensely.
As a family this is so wonderful to see her spirit return and enjoying life again.
A big thank you to all at Milkwood.
The change in your Mum has been great to see, thank you for your review - I will pass this over to the team.
The Milkwood House team have been fantastic in terms of care for my mother. As the next of kin I deeply appreciate the safe, caring, wonderful environment they have created. Perhaps as important (as caring for my mother) is the communication to me, and the professional decision making responsibility they have taken on, which reduces my level of stress and anxiety at a key time in my mothers life. Thank you Jack & the Milkwood team!
Thank you for your review, it is our pleasure to have and continue caring for your Mum and family.
I couldn't wish for a better home for my mum having worked in care and having visited various homes l can genuinely say Milkwood is the best and l am so lucky she is there.
Thank you for your lovely review - I will pass this on to the team.
From the first time I viewed Milkwood for my relatively young husband with Alzheimers I was met by welcoming staff. As I walked around the home I noticed that residents looked happy and well cared for. Run by a kind approachable Manager with caring friendly staff. In the past few months my husband has settled well, comfy clean room, lovely food and encouraged to participate in a varied timetable of activities run by a great Activity Team. Also nice safe garden to wander around in. The whole place feels safe, warm and friendly.
Thank you for your review, it is a pleasure to support you and your husband.
The team of carers also need a mention, most give a very high standard of care, and always take the time to have a chat with the residents, making sure they feel valued and listened to. The food is of a very high standard.
The car park is a negative. The gravel is wholly inappropriate for wheelchair use. It must be difficult for staff but near impossible if residents are coming and going with other elderly visitors.
Thank you for your review, it is a pleasure to support your Mum and family. We are always looking for how we can improve, so thank you for your comments around the car park, I can feed this back.
My mum is in this home ,I'm very happy and can relax knowing my mum is in great care. Everyone is very happy to help out with everything. I can arrive at anytime of the day ,offered coffee or tea .and have a lovely lunch if I with to have one . When mum had to into a nursing home i was very worried. But made me very welcome showed me the room ect .the activities are amazing. Mum enjoys joining in . It's so lovely seeing all the videos and pictures making me feel better that my mum is happy. Thank you everyone
Thank you for your lovely review, it is a pleasure to have Mum with us and for her to be so engaging, especially with music!
The staff are very kind considerate and understanding whatever the situation
Mother was treated with the greatest dignity
right to the end
Thankyou Milkwoood I could not of wish for
better care for my mother.
Thank you for such lovely words. We will miss your Mum for many reasons, but one in particular being how well she responded to the certain musicians playing on her smart speaker!
During the 18 months mum was there, she was always treated with the best care and the staff always took the trouble to interact with her and cheer her up if she was having a bad day. Her dementia made her tricky to deal with at times but everyone I saw was patient and kind irrespective of her sometimes awkward behaviour!
It turned into the sort of 'home' mum needed and you would be hard pressed to find a more compassionate environment.
I have no hesitation in recommending them.
It has been an absolute pleasure to have supported your Mum for her last 18 months. She was a brilliant character to have in the home and will be sadly missed.
Having arrived at Milkwood feeling rather nervous and sad, I found the staff very friendly, supportive and encouraging. Many of them have almost become my friends I feel so relaxed with them. I am no longer nervous and feel very safe and at home in my room. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to different accents.
It is a pleasure to support you and your family, and we are very pleased that you have settled in well and feel so relaxed.
I left knowing that I had.
My brother is comfortable and well cared for. He likes his own space and the staff understand and respect that but keep an unobtrusive eye on his needs nonetheless. They are patient and caring and appear to totally get his sense of humour.
And Christmas lunch was 5-star !!
Thank you for your review, I will pass this over to the staff and kitchen regarding your Christmas dinner!
Mum has been in Milkwood House for 14months now and settled in well from day one. She has a lovely cosy room, with a few of her things from home. She is always encouraged to spend all her time in the lounge- I really value this, as she always has company, even if she is not able to chat much, it means there is always something going on to observe. The separate dining room with tables of 4, all laid out like a restaurant table makes residents' meal times special. Staff are very friendly to her.
Thank you for your lovely review - we like to make our mealtimes as close to a restaurant as possible with staff sat with them to encourage food intake. I will pass on your lovely feedback to the staff.
She had become very bored and depressed in her flat, really retreating into her shell.
She had broken her wrist at Christmas and following a spell in hospital and respite care we decided that she required more care and support than she had been getting.
Milkwood was one of three homes we were recommended to. Just reading the reviews showed Milkwood as being the outstanding one by a country mile.
I turned up and was shown around by a member of staff and it was immediately clear that she loved her job. She explained that residents are referred to as family. 'We are all family here'.
Since Mum arrived it has been like night and day. We have not seen her this happy for about the last five years. She is getting involved in activities often with a wonderful member off staff and is regularly on their Facebook page!
Thank You to the manager and the team. Brilliant job all round!
Thank you for such a great review, it is a pleasure to support Mum and to have been able to assist you and your family through this transition.
to resident's is excellent .We know we made the right choice for our mom and would recommend Milkwood without any reservations.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is a pleasure to continue to support your Mum, she keeps us entertained as much as we entertain her.
The staff were very always friendly and caring and I was always kept informed of what was going on .
I was immensely impressed by the amount of different activities that went on at Millwood, even though my uncle couldn't always participate in them.
Very sadly he passed away earlier this year but he couldn't have had better care anywhere.
Thank you so much to the manager and your lovely team.
I'm sure wherever his spirit is ,my uncle is still busy doing his card tricks!
Thank you for your kind words and review. It was an honour to support your uncle in the last stages of his life and watching him still be able to do all of his card tricks!
I had my reservations of my dad coming to Milkwood as I had not heard good things however I went with it and gave them a try. To my surprise the manager and his team have always been very welcoming to me and my family and have done everything in their power to support my dad and his additional needs. I have watch my dad thrive since moving here as he is now engaged in conversations and activities. I miss my dad being at home but here is the next best thing.
Thank you for your lovely review and I am pleased that we have been able to show you the type of home we are! I will make sure I pass on your comments to the team.
My mother had been at Milkwood Care Home for several mothers now the care she is receiving is second to none the staff are absolutely amazing with her and we are kept up to date from the admin staff . Highly recommend.
Thank you for your lovely review, Mum is an absolute pleasure to care for - I will pass on your comments to the team.
