Overall Experience

Although Mum was only at Chatterwood for two weeks, we are so grateful for the care, kindness and compassion she received during her time there.

From the moment she arrived, the staff treated her with dignity, warmth and genuine respect. They took the time to get to know her and made every effort to ensure she was as comfortable as possible. As a family, we were always made to feel welcome, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble.

Those final two weeks were incredibly difficult for me, but knowing Mum was being cared for by such dedicated and compassionate people gave us enormous comfort and reassurance. My brother who travelled over from NZ to see her will always be thankful for the kindness shown not only to Mum but to us during such a heart-breaking time.

Thank you to Lianne, Jack and everyone at Chatterwood for making Mum's last days peaceful and for treating her with such care and dignity. We will never forget your kindness.

The service offered to residents is 5*. Rooms are lovely and spacious allowing you to have your own personal bits Everyone's so helpful and reassuring from the moment you arrive to visit your relative. You get excellent feed back on how they have been. Lots of activities organised for the residents to do both on site and off. Food is all cooked fresh by on site chef smells and looks delicious. Home is lovely and clean and residents are always happy. Staff have time to sit and talk to the residents making sure they are ok.

Since my Father was discharged from Hospital Portsmouth into the care of Chatterwood, he has never been looked after so well. Sadly his diagnosis won't change but the level of care he receives is vastly superior to anything a hospital can provide. The staff are remarkable. I have only ever seen how dedicated and focused they are on making the rest of my Dad's life, the best it can be.
If I, or anyone else, for that matter, were to need caring for, I would choose Chatterwood without hesitation.

As a visitor, I am warmly welcomed and given any updates on Dad's health and medication. I also get phone calls keeping me in the picture at all times. This is the best service you will find anywhere. The food is superb and I would say, is superior to the best hotel food. You might read this and think this is too good to be true, well I can tell you it is all true. Thank you Chatterwood. Keep up the five star treatment.

When Mum died last month she had been resident at Chatterwood for over 4 years. Based on our experience during that time we would confidently recommend Chatterwood to anyone seeking a safe, supportive and compassionate environment. The staff are professional and treat everyone including relatives and friends with genuine kindness. They were all particularly lovely towards my Dad who visited Mum most days to sit by her bedside. It was a comfort to the family that he was received each today with such warmth and generosity, he will miss his visits greatly. Communication with the wider family was excellent - they kept us informed and were always willing to answer questions and address any concerns. Whilst all the staff were hugely supportive, we'd like to specifically highlight one exceptional member of staff who truly made a difference. It's rare to come across someone as heart warmingly lovely as Lianne, she consistently went above and beyond, offering assurance and comfort to us all.

My husband has terminal cancer and I was caring for him at home until his nursing needs meant that he required professional help. He has been in Chatterwood since 6th February. He is so content there. All the staff are welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much for them. My husband likes to be left to listen to his music and watch his DVDs and he can do so there.
The nursing staff are wonderful and have time to answer any questions either he or I have. The care assistants are very good, always cheerful and never too busy to say hello. The room is kept beautifully clean. They kindly installed a recliner chair for him, similiar to the one he has at home, which is a god send.
When I wanted to take my husband home for a visit on Valentine's Day, the staff were wonderful in getting him ready and we could enjoy our hours together without being pressured to get back at a certain time..

I am able to visit when I and we have no complaints. It's a lovely place.

Very friendly, attentive staff who do care!
Mother is very happy with all aspects of the home, from the attitude of the staff, the medical attention received, the cleanliness of both her room and common areas and the standard of food.

She particularly enjoys time in the lounge where she can interact with both fellow residents and staff.

My mum is in her 90s and has been here for just over 3 years now for dementia nursing care. Nursing staff are good and don't change too often - communications with them have been good. Care assistants are very good and some have been here for a long time. The activities are varied and the activity staff are excellent. My mum can't do too much now but she enjoys the singing activities and the visiting church service. They do also arrange outings which my mum enjoyed when she was able to participate.

My mum was taken in to chatterwood on the 21st January 2026. We had cared for her at home but she needed full time care. She was suffering with cancer of her mouth and was on palliative care. We all knew she had limited time left . On arriving at the home we were greeted with such a wonderful warm welcome . Which put my mum at ease straight away, she knew that she wouldn't be coming back home and was very anxious about going into the home. The staff made my mum and us as a family feel very comfortable. They settled her in her room ( which we had chosen prior to my mum arriving) it was a lovely bright room and they had set it up as we had requested. Moving the bed and furniture into a more comfortable setting for my mum. I stayed with her for a few hours , then my sister came early evening. Little did we know but this was the last time we saw our mother. As we had a call around 2.15 am that our mother had passed away. We can't fault the care and attention my mum received. Thank you

From the moment we came through the door and every one welcome my mum, we knew from this beautiful greeting this care home were going to look after her in her final days excellently. It was a short stay for my mum but she felt very relaxed before she passed and how this was told to me was reassuring. The staff were attentive, caring and just wonderful for mum and our family.

Thank you so much for you support in a time which was so difficult for our family.

The manager Jeanette was so warm, supportive and comforting. Thank you to her and all the staff even the house keeper who packed her things up with dignity and respect.

My mum was only at Chatterwood for the final 5 months of her life. But in that short time the staff at Chatterwood ensured my mum was well cared for with compassion and dignity. All the staff throughout the home were always so friendly and caring and took the time to get to know her. Would fully recommend people to consider it for their loved ones.

My mother was in Chatterwood for a short time for end of life care. The staff were all brilliant, with my Mum, and with us family. They were attentive, kind and thoughtful as well as being professional, honest and caring all through my mother's short stay. She sadly passed away on the 3rd June and the staff went above and beyond to make sure her last days were as comfortable as possible. I cannot fault their care and dedication.

My husband was a resident at Chatterwood from mid January until the beginning of April, when we were able to effect his transfer to home so he could be cared for here. The care he received at Chatterwood was extremely good, the staff were kind and caring. There were individual staff members who really went the extra mile for him, and we are grateful for everything done for him. We would recommend Chatterwood for its homely feel and wrap around care/

Outstanding care in a beautiful environment. I have immense praise for all the staff for their care and kindness to their clients. The home is wonderfully clean and well presented. This was my second experience with Chatterwood House Nursing Home. My mother moved there in 2020 and after a visit with her, my aunt asked me if she could also move there when the time came as she could see how lovely the home was and the outstanding care. Both my mother and aunt were very happy at Chatterwood.
